Ante Djugum (211-C-88, agency: Court Side) made his first basketball steps in KK Ploce. KK Zadar recognized and recruited him while he was a cadet. As a very perspective player, Djugum was called to yougster national team where he had a solid role. A bad work of the KK Zadar club administration lost a lot of talented players. Djugum is one of them. He went to the city rival-Borik Puntamika which was another step to young Djugum to become a international player. After roles in Croatia, he moved to neighborhood, in Herzegovina. The club was Brotnjo, but he wasn't satisfied with his status so he found a new job. But this time it was in Austria. That wasn't the shiniest part of Djugum's career, but after that he got a call from Slovenian famous club, Geoplin Slovan. In only 25 minutes per game in season 2011/12, Djugum averaged 11.5 ppg and 8.2 rpg. Great roles from young Croatian center have been seen by more ambitious Slovenian club, Zlatorog Lasko, where he spent this season. In 30 games of Slovenian first division, in only 23 minutes per game, the 24 year old Croatian center, managed to average 10.5 ppg and 6 rpg with 10.4 ranking per game for the 4th ranked Lasko.
You have a international experience. You have played in a few countries (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Slovenia). Which is the best country to play basketball in?
I spent two seasons in Slovenia, one in Slovan and one in Lasko. Unlike in the previous countries, I got a real chance here in Slovenia and I think that I have a good use of it. Slovenian league is also stronger by my opinion. Play-off proved that, because anyone can beat anyone, there weren't any easy games.
What is your plan for the next season?
I think that I've matured in a basketball way, so I would like to play in a higher level next season, somewhere where I could show my full talent and skills.
Do you think you will play in the Euroleague someday? I certainly see myself in the Euroleague, but I'm conscious that I need to go step by step to that goal. Euroleague is my huge wish and I believe that I can make that dream come true.
Djugum proved his skills against best Slovenian teams. He "killed" Helios in the last round of the regular season in only 26 minutes on the floor where he scored 22 points (10-14 for 2pt) and outrebounded his opponents 11 times which gave him a ranking of 28. He also got a double-double in the second round of the play-off against 1st seeded Krka where he had 15 points and 10 rebounds. A great future is expected for this young center and we believe he would make his dreams of playing in the Euroleague.
