   #1. This week's number one is an international swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Euroleague). He was the major contributor in an Unicaja Malaga's victory against the closely-ranked ALBA Berlin (2-2) 67-62 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. Simon recorded 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 25 minutes on the court. Unicaja Malaga (3-1) is placed second in group B. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Simon's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 12.5ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 33.3%, 3FGP: 35.0% and FT: 85.0% in the four games he played so far. Simon is currently a member of the Croatian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Marko Popovic (185-82, college: S.Idaho JC, currently plays in Euroleague). He contributed to Zalgiris' victory against the fourth-ranked Armani Milano (2-2) 92-87 in the Euroleague last Thursday. Popovic recorded 9 points. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (4-0) is placed first in group C. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. This season Popovic has relatively solid stats: 12.8ppg, 1.5rpg, 2.0apg, 2FGP: 56.3%(9-16), 3FGP: 38.9% and FT: 92.3%. He played for the Croatian national team in 2011.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Kresimir Loncar (210-83, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Russia). Loncar contributed to Khimky's victory against one of league's weakest teams BC Nizhny Novgorod (1-3) 86-82 in the Russian PBL on Monday night. He recorded 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 21 minutes. It was his first game for Khimky this season. His team is placed second in the PBL. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Loncar played for the Croatian national team two years ago.

   #4. Center Ante Tomic (217-87, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB could not help Regal FC Barcelona (3-3) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance Regal FC Barcelona was defeated 80-69 on the road by the higher-ranked Caja Laboral (#4). Tomic scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Tomic has reliable stats this year: 13.8ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.3apg and 1.3spg. He used to play for the Croatian national team last year.

Mario Delas

   #5. Former international power forward Mario Delas (207-90, currently plays in VTB United League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Marko Popovic. But that was another game of his team in VTB United League which we would like to mention. Delas contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Neptunas (1-4) crushing them 90-62. He scored 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 15 minutes. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (4-0) is placed first in group B. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. This year Delas averages: 3.7ppg and 6.0rpg in the three games. He used to play for the Croatian national team three years ago.

   #6. Center Luka Zoric (211-84, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Krunoslav Simon. However that was another game of his team in Spanish ACB which brought him to that list. Zoric was not able to help Unicaja Malaga (4-2) in their game against Gescrap BB (5-1). He scored 9 points. But Unicaja Malaga was badly defeated 82-65 in Bilbao by the second-ranked Gescrap BB. Zoric's overall stats this season are: 9.5ppg and 4.8rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

   #7. Former international power forward Drago Pasalic (208-84, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to secure a victory for Turk Telekom (1-3) in their game against Aliaga (2-2) in the Turkish TBL, despite his very good performance in Monday night's game. Pasalic was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 7 rebounds in 29 minutes. But Turk Telekom lost 66-77 at home to the higher-ranked (#8) Aliaga. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Pasalic's stats this year are: 11.3ppg and 4.8rpg in the four games. He used to play for the Croatian national team three years ago.

Center Mario Kasun (213-80, currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to a 3-point Montepaschi Siena's victory against the closely-ranked Chalon/Saor (1-3) 93-90 in the Euroleague last Friday. Kasun recorded 10 points. Montepaschi Siena (1-3) is placed fifth in group B. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. Kasun's overall stats this season are: 6.5ppg and 6.0rpg. He used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2009.

   #9. Former international point guard Jakov Vladovic (187-83, currently plays in EuroChallenge) led his Slovenian team Krka to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Etha (0-1) crushing them 100-73 in the EuroChallenge on Tuesday night. Vladovic recorded 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in 26 minutes. It was his first game for Krka this season. His team is placed second in group A. Vladovic is currently seventh on the league's list of best passers with 6 assists. He used to play for the Croatian national team three years ago.

   #10. Guard Zoran Vrkic (200-87, currently plays in Greece) led Ikaros to a victory against the fourth-ranked Panathinaikos (2-2) 72-68 in the Greek A1 last Sunday. Vrkic recorded 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 29 minutes. It was his first game for Ikaros this season. His team is placed eighth in the A1. Vrkic is international player as one years ago he still played for the Croatian senior national team.

   #11. Former U18 international forward Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU, currently plays in Hungary) led Kormend to a victory over the sixth-ranked Falco-Szova 83-76 in the Hungarian A Division on Saturday night. He was MVP of the game. Buljan recorded a double-double by scoring 30 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 4 steals. Buljan is currently second on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of most steals (fourth place). He has individually a very good season with high stats. Buljan averages: 23.4ppg, 6.8rpg, 2.6apg and 2.4spg. He used to play for the Croatian U18 national team seven years ago.

   #12. International point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help Panathinaikos in their game against Fenerbahce Ulker in the Euroleague, despite his good performance in Thursday night's game. Ukic recorded 11 points in 25 minutes. But his team lost 64-73. He averaged so far 10.5ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.5apg in the four games. Ukic is also in the roster of the Croatian national team.

   #13. Former international power forward Sime Spralja (206-83, agency: Court Side, currently plays in Poland) contributed to a Trefl Sopot's victory against the closely-ranked PGE Turow 80-76 in the Polish TBL last Sunday. He scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Spralja averaged so far 11.2ppg and 2.8rpg. He used to play for the Croatian national team eight years ago.

   #14. Former U21 international power forward Nenad Delic (210-84, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Pi Koleji in their game against Akhisar Bld in the Turkish TB2L (second division), despite his very good performance on Tuesday night. Delic had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 assists in 34 minutes. But his team lost 81-89. Delic belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #3 with 10.0rpg. This year his other stats are: 17.2ppg and 2.6apg in the five games. Delic used to play for the Croatian U21 national team back in 2004.

   #15. An experienced former international power forward Tomislav Ruzic (207-79, currently plays in EuroChallenge) couldn't help Tofas in their game against Karsiyaka in the EuroChallenge. He recorded 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. It was his first game for Tofas this season. His team was edged 64-63. Ruzic used to play for the Croatian national team twelve years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Milos Paravinja (212-C/F-79, currently plays in Slovenia), who plays in the Slovenian Telemach League could not help Geoplin Slovan (2-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Paravinja's very good performance Geoplin Slovan was edged 73-72 on the road by the higher-ranked LTHcast Mercator (#6). He was the second best scorer with 17 points. Paravinja also added 4 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Paravinja's overall stats this season are: 7.0ppg, 2.3rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Slovenian.

   #2. Milan Stegnjaic (204-F/C-81, currently plays in Austria), who plays in the Austrian A Bundesliga was not able to help UBSC Graz (3-3) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance UBSC Graz was defeated 96-90 in Wien by the higher-ranked BC Vienna (#3). Stegnjaic recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 12 rebounds. Stegnjaic is currently sixth on the list of best rebounders. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Stegnjaic averages: 16.7ppg and 7.7rpg.

   #3. Mladen Primorac (210-C-90, currently plays in Slovenia), who plays in the Slovenian Telemach League was not able to secure a victory for Tajfun (1-2) in their last game. Despite his good performance Tajfun lost 71-78 at home to the higher-ranked (#3) Elektra. Primorac was the second best scorer with 13 points. He also added 5 rebounds in 23 minutes. This year Primorac's overall stats are: 8.7ppg and 5.3rpg in the three games he played so far.

   #4. Marin Petric (190-G-80, currently plays in Germany) led Duesseldorf Baskets to a 3-point victory against the league leader BG Karlsruhe (2-0) 74-71 in the German ProA (second division) on Sunday night. He scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Duesseldorf Baskets (6-2) is placed third in the ProA. Petric's overall stats this season are: 9.9ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.8apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Croatian and German.

   #5. Drazen Klaric (204-F-80, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help KFUM Jamtland (0-0) in their game against LF Basket (4-5) in the Swedish Basketligan. Despite his good performance in Tuesday night's game Klaric recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 12 rebounds. This season Klaric has very high stats. He averages: 16.6ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.3apg.

   #6. Pankracije Barac (196-G-81, agency: Court Side, currently plays in EuroChallenge) couldn't help Pitesti in their game against Paris-Levallois in the EuroChallenge. Despite his good performance on Tuesday night Barac recorded 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. It was his first game for Pitesti this season.

   #7. Sasa Jankovic (204-F-84, currently plays in Slovakia) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams SKP Banska Bystrica in their game against Nova Ves in the Slovakian Extraliga. Despite his very good performance last Saturday Jankovic scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Jankovic averaged so far 12.8ppg, 5.0rpg and 2.0apg.

   #8. Marco Buljevic (197-G-87, also represented by Court Side, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Kirchheim Knights crushing them 98-78 in the German ProA (second division) in Sunday night's game. He scored 8 points and added 6 passes. Buljevic averaged so far 10.4ppg, 1.9rpg, 2.0apg and 1.3spg. He has both Croatian and German nationalities. Despite Buljevic's Croatian passport, he previously played for the German U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Croatian team.

   #9. Luka Gvozden (184-PG-93, currently plays in Austria) contributed to St.Polten's surprising victory against the second-ranked Xion Dukes 92-78 in the Austrian A Bundesliga on Monday night. Gvozden recorded 7 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Gvozden's overall stats this season are: 5.0ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.3apg. He also holds two passports: Croatian and Austrian. Despite Gvozden's Croatian nationality, he currently plays for the Austrian U20 national team and cannot be called to the Croatian team.

   #10. Ivica Cvitanovic (207-C-82, currently plays in Slovakia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Sasa Jankovic and both played together in the last Slovakian Extraliga game. Cvitanovic couldn't help one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams SKP Banska Bystrica in their game against Nova Ves. He scored only 4 points in 17 minutes. It was his first game for SKP Banska Bystrica this season. His team lost 86-95.

Florence's 25 second half points leads Cibona into finals - May 25, 2016

James Florence (185-PG-88, college: Mercer) scored 25 of his 27 points in the second halftime and made seven 3-pointers as Cibona defeated Zadar in game 3 of the Croatian semifinals to make it through the 2016 finals. Game 1 of the finals between Cedevita and Zagreb will be played on Sunday.
