A1 is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 9 rounds left. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, extra overtimes, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

There was a change at the A1 leadership position after last games. Round 9 most important game was a defeat of league's leader KK Zagreb (7-2). They were defeated by third ranked Jolly (6-3) 87-74 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 53-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Jolly had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Ronald Ross (188-83, college: Texas Tech) stepped up and scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Mate Mrva (195-83) chipped in 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Ante Krapic (205-85) with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jolly have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 6-3 record having just two points less than leader Kvarner 2010. KK Zagreb at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Kvarner 2010. KK Zagreb will play next round against KK Dubrovnik trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Jolly will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Kvarner 2010 in Rijeka.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 23 points and 5 assists by Robert Lez of Zabok.



Krizevci - Djuro Djakovic 78-76 OT

Krizevcki needed overtime to tame visiting Djuro Djakovic. Krizevcki came from behind in the second half to force overtime. They carried the momentum into overtime and clinched the victory at the end. Krizevcki improved at 4-5 record in the ladder and caught up with Djuro Djakovic.

Osjecki Sokol - Kvarner 2010 67-85

Very expected game in Osijek where 9th ranked Osjecki Sokol (2-7) was defeated by first ranked Kvarner 2010 (8-1) 85-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kvarner 2010. Osjecki Sokol was better in second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Power forward Jure Skific (202-88) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Ivica Radic (208-90) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was center Bruno Sundov (221-80, agency: Alti Sport) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Veljko Budimir (199-85, agency: Court Side) scored 16 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kvarner 2010 have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Osjecki Sokol lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. Kvarner 2010 will face Jolly (#3) in Sibenik in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Osjecki Sokol will play at home against Vrijednosnice OS (#5) in Darda.

Zabok - Darda 90-68

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked KK Zabok (4-5) smashed at home 4th placed Vrijednosnice OS (4-5) 90-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by KK Zabok. Vrijednosnice OS was better in second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KK Zabok shot 62.3 percent from the field. KK Zabok shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. KK Zabok looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Guard Robert Lez (192-79) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 assists for the winners and guard Mario Pesut (184-90) chipped in 9 points and 9 assists. KK Zabok's coach Dragutin Crnjevic felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Bosnian center Mato Peraica (203-81) with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Bosnian power forward Mirza Hrncic (203-86) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. KK Zabok moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Vrijednosnice OS. KK Zabok will face Djuro Djakovic (#7) in Slavonski Brod in the next round. Vrijednosnice OS will play on the road against Osjecki Sokol in Osijek.

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked KK Dubrovnik (1-8) was rolled over on the road by fifth ranked Alkar Sinj (5-4) 80-52 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-52. Alkar Sinj dominated on the defensive end, holding KK Dubrovnik to just 5 points in second quarter. They outrebounded KK Dubrovnik 39-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. KK Dubrovnik was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Nikola Gaurina (199-83, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and Josip Matic (202-92) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds.
