We bring you last week's top performances from Croatians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Luka Zoric (211-84, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Spain. He could not help Unicaja Malaga (6-2) in their last game. Despite Zoric's very good performance the second-placed Unicaja Malaga was badly defeated 91-72 on the road by the lower-ranked (#3) Montepaschi Siena in the group B of Euroleague. He was the top scorer with 29 points. Zoric also added 4 rebounds in 26 minutes on the court. It was Unicaja Malaga's first loss after six consecutive victories. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Zoric has relatively good stats this year: 10.5ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 52.5% and FT: 71.4% in the eight games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Croatian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Marko Popovic (185-82, college: S.Idaho JC, currently plays in Lithuania). Popovic led Zalgiris to a victory over the eighth-ranked Lietuvos rytas (3-1) 90-79 in the Lithuanian LKL last Monday. He was MVP of the game. Popovic scored 20 points and added 3 assists. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (4-0) is placed second in the LKL. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Popovic averages: 10.0ppg, 3.0apg, 2FGP: 75.0%, 3FGP: 33.3%. He played for the Croatian national team in 2011.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Euroleague) is a teammate of previously mentioned Luka Zoric and both played together in the last Euroleague game. Simon, who plays in Spain. He was not able to help Unicaja Malaga (6-2) in their last game. Despite Simon's very good performance Unicaja Malaga (#2) was badly defeated 91-72 in Siena by the lower-ranked (#3) Montepaschi in the group B of Euroleague. He was the second best scorer with 16 points. Simon also added 5 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 34 minutes. It's Simon's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 11.6ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 43.8%, 3FGP: 40.6% and FT: 89.7% in the eight games. Simon is also a member of the Croatian senior national team.

   #4. Center Ante Tomic (217-87, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in a Regal FC Barcelona's victory against one of league's weakest teams Cajasol (1-9) 78-64 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. He recorded 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Regal FC Barcelona (6-4) is placed sixth in the ACB. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Tomic is currently fourth on the league's list of best rebounders. He has very reliable stats this season: 13.3ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.5apg and 1.1spg. Tomic used to play for the Croatian national team last year.

   #5. Former international forward Kresimir Loncar (210-83, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in VTB United League) contributed to Khimky's victory against the sixth-ranked Lietuvos rytas (3-4) 80-69 in the VTB United League last Monday. He recorded 13 points in a mere 16 minutes. BC Khimky Moscow Region (6-1) is placed first in group A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Loncar's overall stats are: 8.7ppg and 2.5rpg in the six games. He used to play for the Croatian national team two years ago.

   #6. Point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to Panathinaikos' victory against the fifth-ranked Un.Olimpija (2-6) 80-72 in the Euroleague on Thursday night. Ukic scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Panathinaikos Athens (5-3) is placed third in group A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Ukic has reliable stats this season: 10.9ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.8apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

   #7. Former U20 international center Jure Lalic (210-86, currently plays in EuroChallenge) contributed to Krka's victory against the leader Karsiyaka (4-1) 80-74 in the EuroChallenge in Tuesday night's game. Lalic scored 21 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 23 minutes. Krka Novo Mesto (3-2) is placed third in group A. His team will play only one more game in the EuroChallenge Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. Lalic's stats this year are: 11.8ppg and 4.8rpg in the four games. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team six years ago.

   #8. Center Leon Radosevic (206-90, currently plays in VTB United League) faced previously mentioned Kresimir Loncar in the VTB United League last game. Radosevic, who plays in Lithuania was not able to secure a victory for Lietuvos rytas (3-4) in their last game on Monday. Despite his very good performance Lietuvos rytas (#6) was defeated 80-69 in Khimki by the leading Khimky in the group A of VTB United League. Radosevic was the top scorer with 15 points. He also added 6 rebounds. Radosevic's total stats this season are: 9.6ppg and 5.3rpg. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2010.

International guard Zoran Vrkic (200-87, currently plays in Greece) was the main contributor in Ikaros' victory against the closely-ranked Kolossos (3-5) crushing them 86-66 in the Greek A1 on Sunday night. Vrkic was the best player in that game. He scored 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line) in 32 minutes. Ikaros Kallitheas (5-3) is placed sixth in the A1. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Vrkic averaged so far 11.4ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.4apg in the five games. He used to play for the Croatian national team last year.

   #10. Point guard Dontaye Draper (180-84, college: Charleston, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked CAI Zaragoza (6-4) 94-79 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. Draper recorded 7 points and added 3 passes. Real Madrid (10-0) is placed first in the ACB. So far his team won all ten games in the Regular Season. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Draper's total stats this season are: 3.9ppg and 2.2apg. He is a naturalized American. Draper is international player as one years ago he still played for the Croatian senior national team. He used to play for Cedevita Zagreb in Croatian league.

   #11. International swingman Fran Pilepic (193-89, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 16th-ranked Assignia Manresa crushing them 83-63 in the Spanish ACB last Saturday. Pilepic recorded 8 points in 18 minutes. This year Pilepic averages only 3.2ppg in the nine games. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #12. International point guard Rok Stipcevic (185-86, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA couldn't help Armani Milano (5-5) in their last game. Despite his good performance Armani Milano lost 80-86 in Sassari to the second-ranked Banco di Sardegna. Stipcevic was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 4 rebounds in 25 minutes. This year Stipcevic's total stats are: 5.9ppg and 1.3rpg in the 10 games. He is also in the roster of the Croatian national team.

   #13. U19 international swingman Mario Hezonja (202-95, currently plays in Euroleague) is a teammate of previously mentioned Ante Tomic. But that was another game of his team in Euroleague which we would like to mention. Hezonja managed to help Regal FC Barcelona to win against the third-ranked Besiktas crushing them 78-48. He scored 5 points. It was his first game for Regal FC Barcelona this season. Hezonja used to play for the Croatian U19 national team last year.

   #14. Former U18 international forward Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU, currently plays in EuroChallenge) contributed to Kormend's victory against the fourth-ranked Timisoara 97-86 in the EuroChallenge on Tuesday night. He had a double-double by scoring 29 points and getting 10 rebounds. Buljan also added 4 assists in 36 minutes. Buljan belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #3 with 21.0ppg. This year his other stats are: 7.6rpg and 3.2apg in the five games. Buljan used to play for the Croatian U18 national team back in 2005.

   #15. Former international power forward Mario Delas (207-90, currently plays in VTB United League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Marko Popovic. However that was another game of his team in VTB United League which brought him to that list. Delas contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked CEZ Nymburk crushing them 90-70. He recorded 5 points. Delas has averaged so far 3.8ppg and 4.2rpg. He used to play for the Croatian national team three years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Igor Maric (196-F-85, currently plays in Slovenia), who plays in the Slovenian Telemach League could not help Maribor Messer (5-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Maric's very good performance Maribor Messer was defeated 85-78 on the road by the second-ranked Helios. He was the second best scorer with 17 points. Maric also added 6 rebounds. Maric averaged so far 10.4ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1spg.

   #2. Experienced Milos Paravinja (212-C/F-79, currently plays in Slovenia), who plays in the Slovenian Telemach League was not able to help Geoplin Slovan (3-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Paravinja's very good performance Geoplin Slovan was edged 66-63 in Sostanj by the higher-ranked Elektra (#5). He was the top scorer with 23 points. Paravinja also added 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Paravinja has averaged so far 8.7ppg, 2.7rpg and 1.3apg. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Slovenian.

   #3. Mladen Primorac (210-C-90, currently plays in Slovenia), who plays in the Slovenian Telemach League was not able to secure a victory for Tajfun (3-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Primorac's very good performance Tajfun was defeated 89-81 at home by the leading Zlatorog. He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 12 rebounds. Primorac is currently sixth on the list of best rebounders. This season he has very good stats: 12.7ppg and 7.4rpg.

   #4. Anthony Drmic (198-G/F-92, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Boise St. to an easy victory against the Seattle University crushing them 87-64 in the NCAA last Sunday. Drmic scored 25 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 32 minutes. The Boise State University has conference record this season. Drmic belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #8 with 12.7ppg. This year he also averages: 7.4rpg in the seven games he played so far. Drmic is another player who holds two passports: Croatian and Australian.

   #5. Pankracije Barac (196-G-81, agency: Court Side, currently plays in EuroChallenge) led his Romanian team Pitesti to a victory against the second-ranked Okapi Aalstar (3-2) 89-77 in the EuroChallenge last Tuesday. He scored 15 points, made 3 passes and 4 steals. BCM U Pitesti (1-4) is placed fourth in group E. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. They will play only one more game in the EuroChallenge Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Barac has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.8ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.4apg and 2.2spg.

   #6. Milan Stegnjaic (204-F/C-81, currently plays in Austria) led UBSC Graz to a victory over the closely-ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart crushing them 98-69 in the Austrian A Bundesliga on Monday night. Stegnjaic was the top player that evening. He recorded 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 30 minutes. Stegnjaic belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #6 with 7.2rpg. This year his other stats are: 16.1ppg in the nine games.

   #7. Kristijan Krajina (206-F-90, currently studies in the States) contributed to a 1-point Mt.St.Mary's' victory against the Binghamton University 71-70 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. Krajina scored 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 26 minutes. He has very impressive stats this year: 16.1ppg in the nine games.

   #8. Ivan Jurkovic (213-C-90, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the FIU (1-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Jurkovic's good performance the FIU (#5) was defeated 79-68 on their home court in Miami, FL by the University of South Alabama. He scored 13 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks. This season Jurkovic has very high stats. He averages: 16.1ppg.

   #9. Marco Buljevic (197-G-87, also represented by Court Side, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams ETB Wohnbau in their game against Crailsheim Merlins in the German ProA (second division). Buljevic scored 8 points. His team was defeated 82-67. He averaged so far 10.8ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.7apg. Buljevic has both Croatian and German nationalities. Despite his Croatian passport, Buljevic previously played for the German U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Croatian team.

   #10. Vjeran Soldo (208-F/C-84, currently plays in Slovenia) couldn't help LTHcast Mercator in their game against Rogaska in the Slovenian Telemach League. He recorded only 4 points in 12 minutes. His team was edged 71-70. Soldo has averaged so far 6.0ppg and 2.6rpg in the seven games.

Ten players cut from Croatian NT preliminary squad for Olympic Qualifying - May 27, 2016

Croatian national team head coach Aleksandar Petrovic decided to reduce his Olympic qualifying tournament squad to 16 men. The ten out of the national team are NBA players Damjan Rudez and Duje Dukan, naturalised Dontayer Draper and Oliver Lafayette, promised Dragan Bender and Ivica Zubac and Luka Zoric, Darko Planinic, Josip Sobin and Luka Bozic. Florence's 25 second half points leads Cibona into finals - May 25, 2016

James Florence (185-PG-88, college: Mercer) scored 25 of his 27 points in the second halftime and made seven 3-pointers as Cibona defeated Zadar in game 3 of the Croatian semifinals to make it through the 2016 finals. Game 1 of the finals between Cedevita and Zagreb will be played on Sunday.
