Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Croatians who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Marko Popovic (185-82, college: S.Idaho JC, currently plays in Euroleague). He was the major contributor in Zalgiris' victory against the fifth-ranked Armani Milano (3-6) 67-65 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Popovic scored 14 points (went 5 for 5 at the free throw line) in 28 minutes on the court. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (7-2) is placed first in group C. His team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Popovic has relatively good stats this year: 14.6ppg, 1.6rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 47.2%, 3FGP: 44.9% and FT: 86.1% in the nine games he played so far. He played for the Croatian senior national team one years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. Simon could not help Unicaja Malaga (6-5) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance Unicaja Malaga was defeated 76-70 on the road by the lower-ranked Blusens Monbus (#10). Simon was the top scorer with 14 points. He also added 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Simon has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.2apg, 2FGP: 55.0%, 3FGP: 43.6%. He is in the roster of the Croatian senior national team.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Kresimir Loncar (210-83, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in VTB United League). Loncar led his Russian team Khimky to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Azovmash (2-6) 91-73 in the VTB United League on Monday night. He scored 13 points in only a mere 11 minutes. BC Khimky Moscow Region (7-1) is placed first in group A. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This year Loncar's overall stats are: 9.3ppg, 2.6rpg, 2FGP: 61.9%(26-42) and FT: 86.7% in the seven games. He played for the Croatian national team two years ago.

   #4. Center Leon Radosevic (206-90, currently plays in VTB United League) led his Lithuanian team Lietuvos rytas to an overtime victory against the seventh-ranked BC Donetsk (3-5) 99-97 in the VTB United League in Sunday night's game. Radosevic scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius (4-4) is placed fifth in group A. It's Radosevic's first season with the team. He has reliable stats this year: 10.4ppg and 5.3rpg. Radosevic used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2010.

   #5. Former U20 international center Jure Lalic (210-86, currently plays in EuroChallenge) led his Slovenian team Krka to a victory against the leader Karsiyaka (5-1) 80-74 in the EuroChallenge last Tuesday. He scored 21 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 23 minutes. Krka Novo Mesto (3-3) is placed third in group A. The Regular Season already ended in the EuroChallenge. Lalic's stats this year are: 11.4ppg and 4.6rpg in the five games. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team six years ago.

   #6. Center Luka Zoric (211-84, currently plays in Euroleague) is a teammate of previously mentioned Krunoslav Simon. But that was another game of his team in Euroleague which we would like to mention. Zoric contributed to an Unicaja Malaga's victory against the fourth-ranked ALBA Berlin (4-5) 74-63. He scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Unicaja Malaga (7-2) is placed second in group B. Zoric's stats this season are: 10.6ppg and 4.3rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

   #7. Former international power forward Mario Delas (207-90, currently plays in VTB United League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Marko Popovic. However that was another game of his team in VTB United League which brought him to that list. Delas contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Tsmoki-Minsk (0-8) crushing them 81-57. He scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 23 minutes. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (6-1) is placed second in group B. This year Delas' total stats are: 4.5ppg and 4.2rpg in the six games. He used to play for the Croatian national team three years ago.

   #8. Center Ante Tomic (217-87, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked FIATC Joventut (5-6) 78-63 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. Tomic scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Regal FC Barcelona (7-4) is placed fifth in the ACB. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Tomic belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #4. He has very reliable stats this season: 12.8ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.4apg. Tomic used to play for the Croatian national team last year.

   #9. International forward Damjan Rudez (208-86, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a CAI Zaragoza's victory against one of league's weakest teams Assignia Manresa (1-10) 82-75 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. He scored 20 points in 27 minutes. CAI Zaragoza (7-4) is placed sixth in the ACB. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Rudez has averaged so far 9.9ppg and 1.5rpg in the 11 games. He is also in the roster of the Croatian national team.

   #10. Guard Zoran Vrkic (200-87, currently plays in Greece) was not able to help Ikaros (5-4) in their game against Aris (3-6) in the Greek A1. Despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game Vrkic was the second best scorer with 17 points. He also added 5 rebounds. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Vrkic belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #2. This season he has very good stats: 12.3ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.3apg. Vrkic is international player as one years ago he still played for the Croatian senior national team.

   #11. Former U20 international forward Drazen Bubnic (206-86, currently plays in Euroleague) helped his Slovenian team Un.Olimpija edge the third-ranked Khimky 74-72 in the Euroleague on Friday night. He scored 11 points. Bubnic has averaged so far 4.2ppg and 2.2rpg. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team six years ago.

   #12. An experienced former international power forward Tomislav Ruzic (207-79, currently plays in EuroChallenge) helped his Turkish team Tofas edge the closely-ranked Krka 72-70 in the EuroChallenge in Tuesday night's game. Ruzic scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 33 minutes. Ruzic has averaged so far 8.0ppg and 5.2rpg in the six games. He used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2000.

   #13. Former international point guard Jakov Vladovic (187-83, currently plays in EuroChallenge) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jure Lalic. He played also in the last EuroChallenge game facing Tomislav Ruzic (above) in the other team. Vladovic was not able to secure a victory for Krka in their game against Tofas. Despite his good performance last Tuesday He was the second best scorer with 11 points. Vladovic averaged so far 10.7ppg, 4.8rpg, 3.5apg and 1.2spg. He used to play for the Croatian national team three years ago.

   #14. International point guard Dontaye Draper (180-84, college: Charleston, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Real Madrid in a victory against the eighth-ranked Asefa Estudiantes 87-74 in a derby game in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. Draper scored only 4 points in 9 minutes on the court. Draper has averaged so far 3.9ppg and 2.0apg in the 11 games. He is a naturalized American. Draper used to play for the Croatian national team last year. He played also for Cedevita Zagreb in Croatian league.

   #15. Former international power forward Sime Spralja (206-83, agency: Court Side, currently plays in Eurocup) couldn't help Trefl Sopot in their game against Galatasaray in the Eurocup. Despite his good performance in Tuesday night's game Spralja scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Spralja has averaged so far 7.8ppg and 2.6rpg. He used to play for the Croatian national team eight years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Igor Maric (196-F-85, currently plays in Slovenia) led Maribor Messer to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Elektra (4-4) 94-77 in the Slovenian Telemach League last Saturday. He scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 29 minutes. KK Maribor Messer (6-2) is placed fourth in the Telemach League. Maric averaged so far 11.1ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1spg in the eight games he played so far.

   #2. Mladen Primorac (210-C-90, currently plays in Slovenia), who plays in the Slovenian Telemach League could not help Tajfun (3-5) in their last game. Despite Primorac's very good performance Tajfun lost 93-104 on the road to the higher-ranked (#6) LTHcast Mercator. He scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in a mere 19 minutes. Primorac belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #5 with 7.3rpg. This year he also averages: 13.3ppg in the eight games.

   #3. Pankracije Barac (196-G-81, agency: Court Side, currently plays in EuroChallenge) led his Romanian team Pitesti to a victory against the second-ranked Okapi Aalstar (4-2) 89-77 in the EuroChallenge last Tuesday. Barac scored 15 points, made 3 passes and 4 steals in 33 minutes. BCM U Pitesti (1-5) is placed fourth in group E. The Regular Season already ended in the EuroChallenge. Barac has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.2ppg, 2.5rpg, 2.3apg and 2.2spg in the six games.

   #4. Milan Stegnjaic (204-F/C-81, currently plays in Austria) led UBSC Graz to a victory over the closely-ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (4-6) crushing them 98-69 in the Austrian A Bundesliga on Monday night. Stegnjaic was MVP of the game. He recorded 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. UBSC Raiffeisen Graz (4-6) is placed eighth in the A Bundesliga. Stegnjaic is ranked fifth on the list of the best rebounders in the league. This season he has very high stats. Stegnjaic averages: 16.0ppg and 7.4rpg.

   #5. Marin Petric (190-G-80, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) was not able to help Duesseldorf Baskets (9-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Duesseldorf Baskets was defeated 78-70 in Kirchheim by the much lower-ranked Knights (#13). Petric recorded 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Petric averaged so far 10.4ppg, 3.2rpg and 1.8apg. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and German.

   #6. Sasa Jankovic (204-F-84, currently plays in Slovakia) was not able to secure a victory for SKP Banska Bystrica in their game against Komarno in the Slovakian Extraliga, despite his very good performance in Wednesday night's game. Jankovic was the second best scorer with 19 points. He also added 6 rebounds in 35 minutes. But his team was edged 83-80. Jankovic averaged so far 12.2ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.7apg in the 10 games.

   #7. Sandi Marcius (206-F-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an Purdue's surprising victory against the Lamar University crushing them 72-39 in the NCAA last Tuesday. He scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in only 10 minutes. Marcius averaged so far 12.2ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.7apg in the 10 games.

   #8. Vjeran Soldo (208-F/C-84, currently plays in Slovenia) faced previously mentioned Mladen Primorac in the Slovenian Telemach League last game. Soldo contributed to a LTHcast Mercator's victory against the closely-ranked Tajfun 104-93. He scored 8 points in only 10 minutes. Soldo has averaged so far 6.3ppg and 2.3rpg in the eight games.

   #9. Experienced Milos Paravinja (212-C/F-79, currently plays in Slovenia) couldn't help Geoplin Slovan in their game against Rogaska in the Slovenian Telemach League. He scored 5 points and added 3 passes. His team was defeated 79-65. Paravinja has averaged so far 8.3ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.5apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Croatian and Slovenian.

   #10. Ante Bilobrk (203-SF-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in Slovakia) helped Nitra win their game against the tenth-ranked Levice 87-81 in the Slovakian Extraliga on Saturday night. Bilobrk scored 7 points in only 14 minutes. Bilobrk has averaged so far 5.5ppg and 1.5rpg in the two games.

GKK Sibenik and American rookie Roderick Bobbitt(190-G-93, college: Hawaii) have mutually agreed to part ways after just few days in the job and announced that have re-signed Teo Petani (190-G-88) for the upcoming season with an option to extend the contract for another season. Petani spent last three season with GKK Sibenik and in the latest one he averaged 11.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.1 blocks in 27 Croatian A1 League games. Leyma Basquet Coruna (LEB Gold) strengthened their roster with addition of 23-year old Croatian power forward Josip Mikulic (215-103kg-93, college: Fairfield). He played most recently at Hopsi Polzela in Slovenian Liga Nova KBM. In 15 games he recorded 13.5ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.0apg last season. Mikulic also played that season for Igokea in Bosnia and Herzegovina league. But in 8 Adriatic League games he averaged just 1.1ppg and 1.3rpg. Coach Kujundzic sign up with Student Mostar - 1 day ago

Croatian coach Domagoj Kujundzic signed aone-year contract with Bosnian side Student Mostar. His assistant coach will be former Bosnian national team member Samir Leric . Kujundzic served as assistant coach of Split and Cedevita. He also worked as head coach of A2 League side Omis for one season. Kujundzic was last seen as the coach of Split's cadet team and led them to the Croatian Championship title in 2014.   [read more]
