Here is the weekly review of the top performing Croatian players, who play currently abroad.


Ana Lelas

   #1. This week's number one is an international swingman Ana Lelas (183-83, currently plays in France). She contributed to a Lattes Montpellier's victory against the ninth-ranked Tarbes (7-8) 71-65 in the French LFB in Saturday night's game. Lelas scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 27 minutes on the court. Lattes Montpellier Agglomeration Basket (14-1) is placed first in the LFB. It was her team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. This year Lelas averages: 9.5ppg, 4.1rpg, 1.9apg, 2FGP: 36.8% and FT: 96.8%(30-31) in the 15 games she played so far. She is currently a member of the Croatian senior national team.

Iva Ciglar

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Iva Ciglar (168-85, agency: Data Plus Group, currently plays in France). Ciglar helped Perpignan win their game against the league outsider Union Hainaut (3-12) crushing them 85-61 in the French LFB last Saturday. She scored 9 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Perpignan Basket (10-4) is placed third in the LFB. Ciglar is currently fifth on the list of best passers. Her overall stats this season are: 5.1ppg, 3.1rpg, 4.4apg, 2FGP: 38.5%, 3FGP: 29.7% and FT: 66.7%. Ciglar is in the roster of the Croatian senior national team.

Marija Rezan

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Marija Rezan (198-89, currently plays in Spain). She helped Perfumerias Avenida win their game against the league outsider Socinsa Bembibre (1-9) crushing them 85-58 in the Spanish LFB on Saturday night. Rezan scored 6 points and blocked 2 blocks in 18 minutes. Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca (8-2) is placed second in the LFB. It was her team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. This year Rezan's overall stats are: 5.5ppg, 2.0rpg, 2FGP: 62.5% in the two games. She is also a member of the Croatian senior national team.

Emilija Podrug
Emilija Podrug
   #4. An experienced center Emilija Podrug (190-79, currently plays in France), who plays in the French LFB could not help Lyon (9-6) to beat Aix-en-Provence (6-9). Podrug scored 7 points and added 4 assists. Lyon was defeated 81-77 at home by the much lower-ranked Aix-en-Provence (#11). Podrug's total stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 4.5rpg and 2.6apg. She used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2010.

   #5. Former international center Petra Stampalija (189-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in France) faced previously mentioned Iva Ciglar in the French LFB last game. Stampalija was not able to help Union Hainaut (3-12) in their game against Perpignan (10-4). She scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. It was his first game for Union Hainaut this season. The bottom-ranked Union Hainaut was crushed 85-61 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#3) Perpignan. Stampalija used to play for the Croatian national team three years ago.

Tomica Bacic

   #6. Guard Tomica Bacic (182-87, college: Iona, currently plays in Ireland) led TM Hotel Cork to a victory over the closely-ranked 11890 Killester (5-10) crushing them 71-38 in the Irish Superleague on Saturday night. She was MVP of the game. Bacic recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 11 rebounds (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line); quite an impressive performance considering it's only her third season in pro basketball. Team Montenotte Hotel Cork (9-1) is placed second in the Superleague. It was her team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Bacic has individually a very good season with high stats. She averages: 24.0ppg and 10.5rpg. Bacic is a former U16 international player as she played for the Croatian team ten years ago.

Lisa Karcic
Lisa Karcic
   #7. International power forward Lisa Karcic (185-86, agency: Regeneracom Sports, college: Villanova, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Hondarribia-Irun (4-6) in their game against Rivas Ecopolis (10-0) in the Spanish LFB. She cannot count it as her best performance. Karcic scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 23 minutes. Hondarribia-Irun was crushed 77-51 in Rivas by the leading Ecopolis. Karcic is currently third on the league's list of most steals with 2.3spg. She also averaged so far 7.9ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.2apg in the 10 games. Karcic is a naturalized American. She is also Croatian national team player. Strangely Karcic has never played in Croatia.

Center Josipa Pavic (187-C-99) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Tresnjevka, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. The 17-year old player had a double-double of 19 points and 21 rebounds, while her team crushed Sibenik (#8, 3-5) with 23-point margin 92-69. Tresnjevka maintains the 2nd position in Croatian A1. Matilda Soric and Tonia Bilic both scored 20 points for Tresnjevka and Ivona Franic (185-C-98) was the lone Medvescak's scorer in double-figures with a game-high 21 points.
