Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Croatians who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international guard Marko Popovic (185-82, college: S.Idaho JC, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Lithuania. He could not help Zalgiris (1-2) in their last game. Despite Popovic's very good performance the fifth-placed Zalgiris was edged 75-74 on the road by the leading Real Madrid in the group E of Euroleague. He was the top scorer with 21 points. Popovic also added 3 assists in 23 minutes on the court. Popovic has relatively good stats this year: 13.7ppg, 1.5rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 51.2%, 3FGP: 47.8%(32-67) and FT: 88.9% in the 13 games he played so far. He played for the Croatian senior national team two years ago.

Ante Tomic

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Ante Tomic (217-87, currently plays in Euroleague). Tomic led his Spanish team Regal FC Barcelona to a victory over the closely-ranked Olympiacos (1-2) 76-68 in the Euroleague last Friday. He was MVP of the game. Tomic recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 12 rebounds. Regal FC Barcelona (2-1) is placed fourth in group F. Tomic is currently second on the list of best blockers. This season he averages: 9.9ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.7apg, 1.5bpg, 2FGP: 60.2%(56-93) and FT: 53.1%. Tomic played for the Croatian national team in 2011.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Luka Zoric (211-84, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. He was not able to help Unicaja Malaga (8-9) in their last game. Despite Zoric's very good performance Unicaja Malaga lost 70-81 in Sevilla to the lower-ranked (#15) Cajasol. He was the top scorer with 16 points. Zoric also added 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 27 minutes. It was Unicaja Malaga's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Zoric has relatively solid stats: 10.6ppg, 4.4rpg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 57.5%(77-134) and FT: 69.2% in the 17 games. He is also a member of the Croatian senior national team.

   #4. Forward Kresimir Loncar (210-83, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Russia was not able to secure a victory for Khimky (2-1) in their last game on Friday. Despite Loncar's good performance Khimky (#3) was defeated 82-76 in Siena by the second-ranked Montepaschi in the group F of Euroleague. He was the second best scorer with 12 points. Loncar also added 4 rebounds. Loncar's overall stats this season are: 8.2ppg and 4.2rpg. He used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2010.

International swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Luka Zoric and both played together in the last Spanish ACB game. Simon, who plays in the Spanish ACB couldn't help Unicaja Malaga (8-9) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Unicaja Malaga lost 70-81 in Sevilla to the lower-ranked (#15) Cajasol. Simon was the second best scorer with 15 points. He also added 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 20 minutes. Simon has reliable stats this year: 10.1ppg, 3.2rpg and 1.9apg in the 17 games. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

An experienced swingman Mario Stojic (198-80, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Belgium) was the main contributor in a Base Oostende's victory against the sixth-ranked Antwerp Giants (6-6) 78-65 in the Belgian Ethias League on Friday night. Stojic was the best player in that game. He scored 21 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Telenet Oostende (8-4) is placed first in the Ethias League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Stojic's first season with the team. Stojic's stats this year are: 13.5ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.8apg. He is a former international player as he played for the Croatian senior team four years ago.

Former international forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Angelico Biella (3-12) crushing them 92-59 in the Italian SerieA in Sunday night's game. Peric was the top player that evening. He had a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 11 rebounds in 33 minutes. Vanoli Cremona (5-10) is placed 12th in the SerieA. Peric averaged so far 12.3ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.4apg in the 10 games. He used to play for the Croatian national team six years ago.

   #8. Point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, currently plays in Greece) contributed to Panathinaikos' victory against the tenth-ranked Kolossos (4-8) 67-59 in the Greek A1 on Sunday night. He scored 8 points in 28 minutes. Panathinaikos Athens (11-1) is placed first in the A1. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. This year Ukic's overall stats are: 8.7ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.3apg in the nine games. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

Former international point guard Jakov Vladovic (187-83, currently plays in Adriatic League) contributed to Krka's victory against the closely-ranked Cibona (6-11) 86-78 in the Adriatic League in Saturday night's game. Vladovic scored 13 points and added 7 assists. Krka Novo Mesto (7-10) is placed ninth in the Adriatic League. Vladovic belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #3. His total stats this season are: 8.4ppg, 3.8rpg, 4.4apg and 1.2spg. Vladovic used to play for the Croatian national team four years ago.

Point guard Rok Stipcevic (185-86, currently plays in Italy) was the major contributor in a VL Pesaro's victory against the closely-ranked Air Avellino (4-11) 78-71 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. He scored 22 points and added 5 assists in 35 minutes. Victoria Libertas Pesaro (3-12) is located at the very bottom in the SerieA. But the situation may improve as they ended a series of eleven consecutive loses. Stipcevic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.5ppg, 2.5rpg and 2.5apg in the two games. Stipcevic is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

   #11. International swingman Fran Pilepic (193-89, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Gescrap BB's victory against the 14th-ranked CB Canarias 78-70 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. He scored 8 points. This season Pilepic averages only 3.2ppg. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #12. Former U18 international power forward Andrej Stimac (204-79, currently plays in Switzerland) helped Geneve Lions win their game against the closely-ranked Fribourg crushing them 102-72 in the Swiss LNA in Wednesday night's game. Stimac was the top player that evening. He scored 25 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 28 minutes. Stimac averaged so far 12.4ppg, 6.1rpg and 3.7apg in the 13 games. He used to play for the Croatian U18 national team back in 1996.

   #13. Former U20 international forward Drazen Bubnic (206-86, currently plays in Adriatic League) helped his Slovenian team Un.Olimpija win their game against one of league's weakest teams KK Zadar 88-81 in the Adriatic League last Sunday. Bubnic scored 7 points. Bubnic's total stats this season are: 3.5ppg and 1.8rpg. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team seven years ago.

   #14. Former U20 international center Jure Lalic (210-86, currently plays in Adriatic League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jakov Vladovic and both played together in the last Adriatic League game. Lalic helped his Slovenian team Krka win their game against the closely-ranked Cibona 86-78. He scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 19 minutes. Lalic averaged so far 10.3ppg and 4.1rpg in the 17 games. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2006.

   #15. Former U18 international forward Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU, currently plays in Cyprus) helped Keravnos win their game against the league outsider Omonia 76-58 in the Cypriot Division A in Wednesday night's game. Buljan scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Buljan's total stats this season are: 9.8ppg, 8.8rpg and 2.0apg. He used to play for the Croatian U18 national team eight years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Igor Maric (196-F-85, currently plays in Slovenia) was the major contributor in a Maribor Messer's victory against the league outsider Polzela (0-11) 95-86 in the Slovenian Telemach League last Saturday. Maric scored 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. KK Maribor Messer (9-2) is placed first in the Telemach League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Maric averaged so far 13.1ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.3apg and 1.1spg.

   #2. Pankracije Barac (196-G-81, agency: Court Side, currently plays in Romania), who plays in the Romanian Liga Nationala could not help Pitesti (7-10) in their last game. Despite Barac's very good performance Pitesti lost 74-81 at home to the lower-ranked (#14) Oradea. He was the top scorer with 18 points. Barac also added 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 36 minutes. It was Pitesti's third consecutive loss in a row. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Barac is currently fifth on the list of top scorers with 17.1ppg. He also averaged so far 3.4rpg, 3.7apg and 1.6spg in the 17 games he played so far.

   #3. Anthony Drmic (198-G/F-92, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Boise St. to a 2-point victory against the University of Wyoming (1-1) 63-61 in the NCAA in Wednesday night's game. Drmic scored 18 points. The Boise State University has 1-0 conference record this season. Drmic's total stats this year are:, 3.4rpg, 3.7apg and 1.6spg. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Australian.

   #4. Mladen Primorac (210-C-90, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to Tajfun's victory against the closely-ranked Helios (8-3) 71-62 in the Slovenian Telemach League in Saturday night's game. Primorac scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 20 minutes. KK Tajfun Sentjur (6-5) is placed sixth in the Telemach League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Primorac averaged so far 13.1ppg and 6.5rpg in the 11 games.

   #5. Experienced Stipe Modric (206-F-79, currently plays in Slovenia), who plays in the Slovenian Telemach League was not able to help Geoplin Slovan (4-7) in their last game. Despite his good performance Geoplin Slovan lost 67-77 on the road to the second-ranked Zlatorog. Modric scored 11 points in 24 minutes. This year Modric's total stats are: 5.3ppg and 4.3rpg in the three games. He is another player who holds two passports: Croatian and Slovenian.

   #6. Ljubisa Vrcelj (210-C-84, college: Jacksonville, currently plays in Bulgaria) was not able to secure a victory for Euroins Cherno More in their game against Balkan in the Bulgarian NBL, despite his good performance last Saturday. Vrcelj scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 22 minutes. But his team lost 67-74. Vrcelj averaged so far 13.0ppg and 9.0rpg in the three games. He has both Croatian and Canadian nationalities.

   #7. Igor Milicic (194-G-76, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Poland) couldn't help AZS Koszalin in their game against Polpharma in the Polish TBL. Milicic cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points and added 5 passes in 21 minutes. His team was crushed by 23 points 96-73. This year Milicic's total stats are: 2.8ppg and 3.8apg in the four games. He also holds two passports: Croatian and Polish.

   #8. Milan Stegnjaic (204-F/C-81, currently plays in Austria) couldn't help UBSC Graz in their game against BC Vienna in the Austrian A Bundesliga. Despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game Stegnjaic was the top scorer with 17 points. He also added 6 rebounds. Stegnjaic is currently fifth on the list of best rebounders. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Stegnjaic averages: 16.8ppg and 7.1rpg.

   #9. Vjeran Soldo (208-F/C-84, currently plays in Slovenia) couldn't help LTHcast Mercator in their game against Elektra in the Slovenian Telemach League. He scored 8 points. His team was defeated 86-79. Soldo's total stats this season are: 7.7ppg and 2.6rpg.

   #10. Ozren Pavlovic (203-F, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the Hawaii in their game against the Long Beach State University in the NCAA. He scored only 4 points. His team was defeated 76-72. Pavlovic's total stats this season are: 7.7ppg and 2.6rpg.

Ribola Kastela added size to its roster ahead of its return to the Croatian Premijer League, signing a two year deal with Ante Djugum(211-C-88). Djugum arrived from Siroki, where he averaged 13.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.7 blocks in 9 Bosnian Division I games last season before in December left the club. Hermine Nantes Atlantique (ProB) landed 30-year old Croatian ex-international forward Zoran Vrkic (203-87). He played most recently at Karpos Sokoli in FYR Macedonian Prva Liga. In 21 ABA League games he averaged 11.8ppg, 5.2rpg and 2.0apg last season. Vrkic also played 9 games in Balkan League where he had 10.8ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.8apg. 33-year old Croatian ex-international power forward Marko Banic (205-113kg-84) left Unics Kazan (VTB). Banic played there also last season. In 24 Euroleague games he averaged 4.6ppg and 1.7rpg. He played there also last season. Banic also played 19 games in VTB United League where he had 4.6ppg and 1.9rpg. Among other achievements he played in the final of VTB United League in 2016.
