A1 Round 12: Jolly loses to Djuro Djakovic - Jan 27, 2013

The most important game in the last round took place in Sibenik between second ranked Jolly (8-4) and fifth ranked Djuro Djakovic (7-5) on Saturday night. Jolly was defeated by Djuro Djakovic in a tough game at home 91-98. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Jolly. Djuro Djakovic forced 22 Jolly turnovers. 33 personal fouls committed by Jolly helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for forward Toni Brnas (201-91) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Marko Batina (198-86) contributed with 23 points for the winners. American guard Ronald Ross (188-83, college: Texas Tech) replied with 36 points (!!!) and 5 assists for Jolly. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Djuro Djakovic have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 7-5 record. Jolly at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Alkar Sinj. Djuro Djakovic are looking forward to face league's second-placed KK Zagreb at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jolly will play against Alkar Sinj and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A1 top team - Kvarner 2010 (10-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat tenth ranked KK Dubrovnik (1-11) 81-73. Worth to mention a quality performance of Slovenian guard Bojan Krivec (188-87) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists and Dino Cinac who added 20 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Mislav Peric (191-88) with 27 points. Kvarner 2010 maintains first position with 10-2 record. KK Dubrovnik lost eighth consecutive game. KK Dubrovnik at the other side stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Kvarner 2010 will play against Vrijednosnice OS (#7) in Darda in the next round where they are favorite. KK Dubrovnik will play on the road against KK Zabok in Zabok to get more than just one victory in their record.

KK Zabok moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Krizevci and Darda. KK Zabok will meet at home bottom-ranked KK Dubrovnik (#10) in the next round. Krizevci will play against Osjecki Sokol (#9) in Osijek and hope to secure a win.

Alkar Sinj's next round opponent will be Jolly (#3) in Sibenik, which may be the game of the day. Osjecki Sokol will play on the road against Krizevci (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 12 Darda was beaten by KK Zagreb on the road 83-69.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 32 points and 15 rebounds by Tomislav Petrovic of KK Zagreb.


Zabok - Krizevci 93-68

The game in Zabok supposed to be also quite interesting. 7th ranked Krizevci (5-7) played at the court of eighth ranked KK Zabok (5-7). KK Zabok smashed Krizevci 93-68 on Sunday. The game without a history. KK Zabok led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. KK Zabok made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game. The winners were led by center Antonio Vlaic (204-91) who scored that evening 20 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian forward Petar Maric (196-87, college: Lincoln Trail CC) supported him with 14 points. Four KK Zabok players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by center Ivan Cvjetkovic (205-85) did not help to save the game for Krizevci. American point guard Patrick Rembert (185-89, college: Cal-Irvine) added 14 points and 6 rebounds. KK Zagreb - Darda 83-69

No shocking result in a game when second ranked KK Zagreb (9-3) beat at home 6th ranked Vrijednosnice OS (5-7) 83-69. The game was mostly controlled by KK Zagreb. Vrijednosnice OS was better in third quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when KK Zagreb won last quarter 22-9. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Tomislav Petrovic (203-85) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 15 rebounds. International Marko Car (188-85) chipped in 25 points. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Josip Glavinic (192-82) who recorded 25 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Luka Panduric (192-93) added 14 points and 8 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) respectively. KK Zagreb maintains second position with 9-3 record behind leader Kvarner 2010. Vrijednosnice OS at the other side keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. KK Zagreb's next round opponent will be Djuro Djakovic (#5) in Slavonski Brod. Vrijednosnice OS will play at home against the league's leader Kvarner 2010 in Rijeka.

Osjecki Sokol - Alkar Sinj 81-83

Ninth-ranked Osjecki Sokol (2-10) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Alkar Sinj (8-4) in Osijek. The visitors from Sinj managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Osjecki Sokol took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Alkar Sinj had a 23-13 second period charge getting the lead and Osjecki Sokol was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-83. The best player for the winners was Josip Matic (202-92) who scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Domagoj Kanaet (197-93) chipped in 7 points and 10 rebounds. Alkar Sinj's coach Boris Poljak used entire bench in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Ivan Tomeljak (194-79) who recorded 26 points and 6 assists and swingman Veljko Budimir (199-85, agency: Court Side) added 22 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Ribola Kastela added another piece to its backcourt ahead of its return to the Croatian Premijer League by signing a one-year deal with its former member Roko Galic(197-F-97). Zabok strenghetend its roster for the coming season by inking their former members Antonio Vlaic (205-C-91) and Ivan Vucic (197-F/G-96).
