Here is the weekly review of the top performing Croatian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international guard Marko Popovic (185-82, college: S.Idaho JC, currently plays in VTB United League). He was the major contributor in Zalgiris' victory against the fifth-ranked Triumph Lyubertsy (7-7) 70-69 in the VTB United League in Tuesday night's game. Popovic recorded 12 points and added 4 assists in 25 minutes on the court. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (13-1) is placed first in group B. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Popovic averages: 9.8ppg, 1.2rpg, 3.2apg, 2FGP: 57.7%(15-26), 3FGP: 38.7% and FT: 89.3% in the 13 games he played so far. He played for the Croatian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, currently plays in Greece). Ukic led Panathinaikos to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked AGOR (10-6) crushing them 85-58 in the Greek A1 last Saturday. He recorded 11 points. Panathinaikos Athens (15-1) is placed first in the A1. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. It's Ukic's first season with the team. Ukic's overall stats this year are: 8.4ppg, 1.5rpg, 2.1apg, 2FGP: 46.8% and FT: 75.0%. He is in the roster of the Croatian senior national team.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Kresimir Loncar (210-83, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Russia), who plays in the Russian PBL. Loncar could not help Khimky (8-3) to beat Unics Kazan (4-7). He scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 18 minutes. Khimky lost 70-76 on the road to the lower-ranked (#7) Unics Kazan. They ended the series of nine consecutive victories. This year Loncar's overall stats are: 5.7ppg, 3.7rpg and FT: 76.9% in the six games. He played for the Croatian national team three years ago.

   #4. Power forward Mario Delas (207-90, currently plays in VTB United League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Marko Popovic and both played together in the last VTB United League game. Delas contributed to a 1-point Zalgiris' victory against the fifth-ranked Triumph Lyubertsy (7-7) 70-69. He recorded 7 points. Delas' total stats this season are: 5.7ppg and 3.4rpg. He used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2009.

An experienced former U21 international center Bruno Sundov (221-80, also represented by Alti Sport, currently plays in Philippines), who plays in the Filipino PBA was not able to help Rain or Shine (0-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Sundov's very good performance the eighth-placed Rain or Shine were edged 83-81 in Makati by the higher-ranked Alaska Aces (#3) in the Commissioner's Cup group. He recorded a double-double by scoring 30 points and getting 15 rebounds. It was his first game for Rain or Shine this season. Sundov used to play for the Croatian U21 national team thirteen years ago.

Swingman Mario Stojic (198-80, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Belgium) led Base Oostende to an overtime victory against the sixth-ranked Liege Basket (6-10) 84-77 in the Belgian Ethias League in Friday night's game. He recorded 11 points and added 4 passes in 29 minutes. Telenet Oostende (12-4) is placed first in the Ethias League. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. Stojic has relatively good stats this year: 12.6ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.9apg in the 15 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Croatian senior team four years ago.

International center Darko Planinic (211-90, currently plays in Israel) managed to help Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv to win against the league outsider Galil Gilboa (5-11) crushing them 91-56 in the Israeli Winner League last Sunday. Planinic recorded only 4 points. Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv (15-1) is placed first in the Winner League. It was his team's 13th consecutive victory in a row. Planinic's total stats this season are: 5.5ppg and 2.8rpg. He is also Croatian national team player.

   #8. Forward Franko Filipovic (203-87, currently plays in Romania), who plays in the Romanian Liga Nationala was not able to secure a victory for Miercurea Ciuc (3-18) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Miercurea Ciuc lost 85-96 in Bucuresti to the league outsider (#16) CS Dinamo. Filipovic was the top scorer with 22 points. He also added 9 rebounds, passed 4 assists and added 2 blocks in 40 minutes. It was Miercurea Ciuc's seventh consecutive loss in a row. This year Filipovic has relatively solid stats: 15.0ppg, 4.5rpg and 2.0apg in the 21 games. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2007.

Former international center Jurica Zuza (207-78, another player represented by Alti Sport, currently plays in Turkey), who plays in the Turkish TB2L (second division) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Trabzonspor (11-9) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Zuza's very good performance Trabzonspor was defeated 86-80 at home by the higher-ranked Gelisim (#9). He was the top scorer with 18 points. Zuza has reliable stats this season: 14.7ppg and 4.8rpg. He used to play for the Croatian national team nine years ago.

Power forward Mateo Kedzo (206-84, currently plays in Spain) led Ourense to a 1-point victory against the 12th-ranked FCB Regal II (7-10) 66-65 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Friday night's game. Kedzo scored 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 25 minutes. Club Ourense Baloncesto SAD (15-13) is placed in the LEB Gold. Kedzo averaged so far 12.9ppg and 4.5rpg in the 17 games. He is a former U18 international player as ten years ago he still played for the Croatian national team.

   #11. Former U18 international forward Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU, currently plays in Cyprus) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked AEK 69-54 in the Cypriot Division A last Tuesday. Buljan scored 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Buljan's total stats this season are: 7.8ppg, 7.1rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg. He used to play for the Croatian U18 national team eight years ago.

   #12. Former international power forward Tomislav Zubcic (208-90, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in VTB United League) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Kalev/Cramo crushing them 95-73 in the VTB United League in Sunday night's game. He scored only 2 points. Zubcic's total stats this season are: 5.3ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.3apg. He used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2009.

   #13. Former international power forward Tomislav Ruzic (207-79, currently plays in EuroChallenge) couldn't help Tofas in their game against Khimik in the EuroChallenge. Ruzic recorded 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. His team lost 62-69. This year Ruzic's total stats are: 7.4ppg and 4.5rpg in the 10 games. He used to play for the Croatian national team thirteen years ago.

   #14. International swingman Fran Pilepic (193-89, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to a Gescrap BB's victory against the closely-ranked CEZ Nymburk 83-69 in the Eurocup on Tuesday night. Pilepic scored only 3 points. This season Pilepic averages just 5.4ppg. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #15. Former U18 international power forward Andrej Stimac (204-79, currently plays in Switzerland) led Geneve Lions to an easy victory against the league outsider BBC Nyon 94-79 in the Swiss LNA in Wednesday night's game. Stimac scored 12 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 31 minutes. Stimac averaged so far 13.3ppg, 5.8rpg and 3.6apg in the 16 games. He used to play for the Croatian U18 national team seventeen years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Anthony Drmic (198-G/F-92, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Boise St. to a victory against the University of Wyoming (2-7) 68-61 in the NCAA last Saturday. Drmic recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 40 minutes. The Boise State University has 4-5 conference record this season. This year Drmic's total stats are: 5.7ppg and 3.4rpg in the 13 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Australian.

   #2. Ljubisa Vrcelj (210-C-84, college: Jacksonville, currently plays in Bulgaria), who plays in the Bulgarian NBL could not help Euroins Cherno More (5-1) in their last game. Despite Vrcelj's very good performance the league leader Euroins Cherno More was crushed 94-68 on the road by the second-ranked Levski Sofia. He was the top scorer with 19 points. Vrcelj also added 6 rebounds in 25 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Vrcelj has relatively solid stats: 12.6ppg and 8.4rpg in the seven games. He is another player who holds two passports: Croatian and Canadian.

   #3. Pankracije Barac (196-G-81, agency: Court Side, currently plays in Romania) led Pitesti to a victory over the seventh-ranked Timisoara (11-8) 76-65 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Friday night's game. Barac was MVP of the game. He scored 20 points. BCM U Pitesti (10-11) is placed 11th in the Liga Nationala. Barac belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #4. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Barac averages: 17.8ppg, 3.3rpg, 3.7apg and 1.7spg.

   #4. Milan Stegnjaic (204-F/C-81, currently plays in Austria) was the main contributor in an UBSC Graz's victory against the closely-ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (6-14) 88-77 in the Austrian A Bundesliga on Friday night. Stegnjaic was MVP of the game. He scored 25 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 34 minutes. UBSC Raiffeisen Graz (7-13) is placed eighth in the A Bundesliga. The Regular Season already ended. Stegnjaic has very impressive stats this year: 15.5ppg and 6.4rpg in the 20 games.

   #5. Marco Buljevic (197-G-87, also represented by Court Side, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams ETB Wohnbau (9-12) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Buljevic's very good performance ETB Wohnbau was edged 68-65 in Paderborn by the higher-ranked Finke Baskets (#11). He was the second best scorer with 16 points. Buljevic averaged so far 10.1ppg, 1.7rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg. He has both Croatian and German nationalities. Despite Buljevic's Croatian passport, he previously played for the German U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Croatian team.

   #6. Sandi Marcius (206-F-90, currently studies in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the Purdue in their game against the Michigan State University in the NCAA. Marcius recorded only 4 points in 7 minutes on the court. His team lost 65-78. Marcius averaged so far 10.1ppg, 1.7rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg in the 21 games.

   #7. Ivan Jurkovic (213-C-90, is currently at the American university) managed to help Florida International University to win against the Florida Atlantic University 84-65 in the NCAA on Thursday night. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Jurkovic averaged so far 10.1ppg, 1.7rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg.

   #8. Marin Mornar (206-F-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Loyola Mary in their game against the University of San Diego in the NCAA. He scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 27 minutes. His team was edged in an overtime 69-68. Mornar averaged so far 10.1ppg, 1.7rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg in the 21 games.

   #9. Sasa Jankovic (204-F-84, currently plays in Slovakia), who plays in the Slovakian Extraliga couldn't help SKP Banska Bystrica (10-14) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance SKP Banska Bystrica was defeated 82-69 on the opponent's court by the league outsider Svit (#9). Jankovic scored 10 points. Jankovic averaged so far 10.9ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.3apg.

   #10. Marin Bavcevic (182-G-88, college: TCU, currently plays in Switzerland) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Lugano Tigers in their game against Fribourg in the Swiss LNA. He scored 8 points in 23 minutes. His team lost 62-74. Bavcevic has averaged so far 1.7ppg and 1.1rpg in the 14 games. He also holds two passports: Croatian and Swiss.

Jolly JBS Sibenik announced several roster moves as they prepare for the 2016-17 season, including renewing the contract of coach Ivan Velic. Unfortunately, the club parted ways with three members of the 2015-16 roster: Josip Gulam (188-PG-95), Pasko Vrlika (204-F/C-91) and Ozren Pavlovic (203-F-94, college: Hawaii). Ten players cut from Croatian NT preliminary squad for Olympic Qualifying - May 27, 2016

Croatian national team head coach Aleksandar Petrovic decided to reduce his Olympic qualifying tournament squad to 16 men. The ten out of the national team are NBA players Damjan Rudez and Duje Dukan, naturalised Dontayer Draper and Oliver Lafayette, promised Dragan Bender and Ivica Zubac and Luka Zoric, Darko Planinic, Josip Sobin and Luka Bozic. Florence's 25 second half points leads Cibona into finals - May 25, 2016

James Florence (185-PG-88, college: Mercer) scored 25 of his 27 points in the second halftime and made seven 3-pointers as Cibona defeated Zadar in game 3 of the Croatian semifinals to make it through the 2016 finals. Game 1 of the finals between Cedevita and Zagreb will be played on Sunday.
