The Regular Season in A1 is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

Top ranked KK Zagreb (11-4) recorded its fourth loss on the court of eighth ranked Krizevci on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Krizevci 84-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of KK Zagreb. KK Zagreb trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 20-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 75-84 at the end of the game. Krizevci made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Krizevci outrebounded KK Zagreb 42-27 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by KK Zagreb helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Marin Zrnic (200-88) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Center Ivan Cvjetkovic (205-85) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Karlo Zganec (205-95) who recorded 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Krizevci (6-9) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Zabok. KK Zagreb at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They share it with Kvarner 2010. Krizevci is looking forward to face league's second-placed Kvarner 2010 in Rijeka in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KK Zagreb will play at home against KK Zabok in Zabok and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Slavonski Brod. Sixth ranked Djuro Djakovic (8-7) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Vrijednosnice OS (7-8) 68-65 in the game for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vrijednosnice OS. It was a good game for power forward Marino Sarlija (207-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Toni Brnas contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Dejan Meznaric (205-87) answered with 21 points for Vrijednosnice OS. Djuro Djakovic moved-up to fifth place. Vrijednosnice OS at the other side dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Djuro Djakovic will play against bottom-ranked KK Dubrovnik (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vrijednosnice OS will play against Alkar Sinj (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

It was a great evening for Nikola Gaurina who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points. Alkar Sinj's coach Boris Poljak used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Dino Cinac with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Alkar Sinj maintains third place with 10-5 record behind leader KK Zagreb, which they share with Jolly. Loser Kvarner 2010 still keeps top position with four games lost. They share it with KK Zagreb. Alkar Sinj will meet Vrijednosnice OS (#6) in the next round. Kvarner 2010 will play against Krizevci (#8) and hope to secure a win.
The game in Zabok was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Jolly (10-5) played at the court of 7th ranked KK Zabok (6-9). Jolly managed to secure a 9-point victory 88-79. It was an exceptional evening for Ronald Ross who led the winners and scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jolly moved-up to third place, which they share with Alkar Sinj. KK Zabok at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Jolly's next round opponent will be Osjecki Sokol (#9) in Osijek which should be theoretically an easy game. KK Zabok will play on the road against the league's leader KK Zagreb.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Osijek. Local Osjecki Sokol (5-10) outscored 10th ranked KK Dubrovnik (1-14) 85-57 on Saturday night. The best player for the winners was Veljko Budimir who scored 29 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Osjecki Sokol's coach Zoran Helbich felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Osjecki Sokol have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Osjecki Sokol maintains ninth place with 5-10 record. KK Dubrovnik lost eleventh consecutive game. Loser KK Dubrovnik stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Osjecki Sokol will face higher ranked Jolly (#4) in Sibenik in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KK Dubrovnik will play at home against Djuro Djakovic (#5) in Slavonski Brod.


Djuro Djakovic - Darda 68-65

Important game to mention about took place in Slavonski Brod. Sixth ranked Djuro Djakovic (8-7) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Vrijednosnice OS (7-8) 68-65 in the game for the fifth place. Forward Mate Mrva (195-83) accounted for 14 points for the winning side. Center Antonio Vlaic (204-91) came up with 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Serbian forward Petar Maric (196-87, college: Lincoln Trail CC) added 14 points respectively for KK Zabok in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jolly moved-up to third place, which they share with Alkar Sinj. The game was mostly controlled by Osjecki Sokol. KK Dubrovnik was better in second period 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding KK Dubrovnik to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Osjecki Sokol made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Leyma Basquet Coruna (LEB Gold) strengthened their roster with addition of 23-year old Croatian power forward Josip Mikulic (215-103kg-93, college: Fairfield).
