Jeronimo
Sarin
Jeronimo Sarin Head Coach in GKK Sibenik (A1) gave an interview:

What would you try to teach your players besides basketball? How would you do that?

As a coach who had a long basketball career as a player ,besides teaching them to be better players i always trying to prepare my players for a life after career of player, pushing them especially younger player to be good in a school or college.Basketball is a fastest game in a world where each individual has to think fast and works hard, whoever is capable to do that on a court he will be able to do that after career off the court.

Who are your role models in coaching and why?

I think, me and all other young coaches shouldn't be copy of any coach ,I picked up a lot of all coaches who coach me as a player, and I also learn a lot from my friend Mr.Spahija, as well from other coaches like Repesa or Brajkovic, but on the end I want to be something different.

How do you plan on improving as a coach from year to year?

As a Headcoach off GKK Sibenik during the season I am always improving myself learning from mine and other coaches mistakes, but my personal wish is ,to go to NBA and to see ,how they are working in the best world league.

How coaching affecting your life?

To be basketball coach is very stressful, but when you like something nothing is hard, I think my wife and two daughters had a harder time because of my coaching then I.

How do you deal with players about discipline issues either major or minor?

I was a player and I know that players are not robots, they are human been with their habits and I tried to be fair against them, place where I want them 100 % is a practice and in that area i am very strict.

Describe your typical pre game, half time and post-game locker room routine plus explain the thinking behind it.

I am always preparing the game day before the game and all the players knows everything about opponents, pre game speech is a more motivation speech ,halftime speech is combination of motivation and basketball details, depends of the result, and post game routine definitely depends of the result.
My personal preparation is little bit crazy, always same socks, always same parking spot before game and etc. I know that somebody will ask why, but simple I am feeling more confident when I do certain things

How do you plan on motivating players and getting them to buy in to their role on the team each year?

Every player has a different mentality and according that i am trying to motivate each player on a different way regarding player mental state ,and I need to say ,that function pretty well ,it's a same with role in a team, basketball is a collective sport where each individual has to have perfect spot, if it's like that you will have winning team ,if not you have a problem

What are your coaching goals? Where do you hope to be in the following years?

All my life I am always trying to be better, it is a same with a coaching career, I want to be as best as possible, right know I am in first Croatian division in a club with great history Sibenik, in 4 years I brought this club together with my assistants from third to first division, and now on the end of the season we will see ,is mine and club ambitions are same ,if answer will be positive, I think that together with our great Turkish sponsor Dogus, i can bring Sibenik at eurocup in next four years ,if not definitely I will try to go out from Croatia .

Describe the top five priorities in your life in rank order and explain why.

1. To be healthy
2. To raise my kids as best as possible so I and all my family can be proud of them
3. To achieve maximum as a coach, without any regrets
4. To make everyone who is in good relation with me happy
5. To have personal happiness

I think every normal person on first two places will put health and family and later to be successful in job wich you are obtaining , and for last two I am simply person like that, if I am happy and all my friends are not,I cannot be happy either so I put last two priority like that.

What one word or phrase do you want people to associate with your name?

Winner or someone who don't lose ha,ha
