Here is the weekly review of the top performing Croatian players, who play currently abroad.


Antonija Sandric

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Antonija Sandric (181-88, agency: 1x1 Sports, currently plays in Spain). She could not help Gernika (13-7) in their last game. Despite Sandric's very good performance Gernika lost 69-76 on the road to the lower-ranked (#4) Campus Promete. She was the second best scorer with 18 points in 30 minutes on the court. Sandric has relatively good stats this year: 11.9ppg, 2.1rpg, 1.9apg, 1.4spg, 3FGP: 47.8%(11-23) in seven games she played so far. She is currently a member of the Croatian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Turkey). Zellous led Besiktas to a victory against the league outsider Osmaniye (3-15) 75-67 in the Turkish KBSL last Saturday. She recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 11 rebounds. Zellous also added 4 assists. Besiktas CT Istanbul (15-4) is placed third in the KBSL. It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Zellous has individually a very good season with high stats. She averages: 16.6ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.3apg, 3FGP: 25.3% and FT: 84.0%. Zellous is a naturalized American. She is in the roster of the Croatian senior national team. Strangely Zellous has never played in Croatia.

Iva Slonjsak

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was U20 international shooting guard Iva Slonjsak (183-97, currently plays in WABA). She contributed to a Athlete Celje's victory against one of league's weakest teams Play Off (3-9) 88-82 in the WABA in Thursday night's game. Slonjsak scored 9 points, had 10 boards, dished 7 assists and stole 3 balls. ZKK Athlete Celje (8-4) is placed fourth in the WABA. There are only two games left until the end of the WABA Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. This season Slonjsak has relatively solid stats: 10.9ppg, 6.9rpg, 3.4apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 42.1%, 3FGP: 38.0% and FT: 75.0%. She is also a member of the Croatian U20 national team.

   #4. Guard Ivana Seric (170-88, college: NJIT, currently plays in Serbia) helped ZKK Kraljevo win their game against the ninth-ranked Student (7-13) crushing them 75-55 in the Serbian 1 ZLS on Saturday night. Seric scored 9 points, grabbed 6 boards, dished 10 assists and stole 6 balls. ZKK Kraljevo (13-7) is placed fifth in the 1 ZLS. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. It's Seric's first season with the team. Her overall stats this year are: 7.6ppg, 2.9rpg, 3.7apg and 1.9spg. Seric used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2015.

   #5. International center Marija Rezan (198-89, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help CCC Polkowice (2-12) in their last game. Despite her good performance the eighth-placed CCC Polkowice (2-12) was crushed 94-57 in Ekaterinburg by the leading UMMC in the group B of Euroleague. Rezan was the top scorer with 14 points in 27 minutes. The Regular Season already ended in the Euroleague. Rezan has reliable stats this year: 11.6ppg, 8.4rpg and 1.1bpg in 14 games. She plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #6. Guard Martina Tomic (176-92, currently plays in Slovenia) led Janina to a victory over the fifth-ranked Maribor (2-8) 75-56 in the Slovenian SKL last Tuesday. Tomic was MVP of the game. She scored 22 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. ZKD Janina (1-9) is placed third in Places 1-6 group. It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This season Tomic has very high stats. She averages: 16.2ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.8spg. Tomic is a former U18 international player as she played for the Croatian team seven years ago.

   #7. International center Luca Ivankovic (201-87, currently plays in Turkey) helped Botas win their game against the tenth-ranked Mersin BSB (9-11) 75-66 in the Turkish KBSL on Saturday night. She recorded 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 22 minutes. Botasspor Adana (10-9) is placed sixth in the KBSL. This year Ivankovic's overall stats are: 4.2ppg and 5.6rpg in 10 games. She is also Croatian national team player.

   #8. Shooting guard Ivana Dojkic (180-97, currently plays in Russia) was not able to secure a victory for Spartak Vidnoye (6-13) in their game against Nadezhda Orenburg (16-3) in the Russian PBL. Dojkic was the second best scorer with 8 points. She also added 3 steals. Spartak Vidnoye was crushed 78-47 in Orenburg by the higher-ranked Nadezhda (#3). Dojkic's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. Dojkic's total stats this season are: 8.3ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.8apg and 2.1spg. An experienced former international center Emilija Podrug (190-79, currently plays in France) helped Toulouse win their game against the 11th-ranked Dunkerque (6-13) 72-55 in the French LF2 (second division) last Saturday. Podrug recorded 7 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in 21 minutes. Toulouse Metropole Basket (12-4) is placed fourth in the LF2. Podrug averaged so far 10.6ppg, 5.5rpg and 3.1apg in 15 games. She used to play for the Croatian national team seven years ago.

Center Jovana Mandic (193-92, college: Nicholls St., currently plays in Spain) helped ADBA edge the seventh-ranked GDKO Bizkaia (10-10) 65-64 in the Spanish LF2 (second division) on Saturday night. Mandic scored 11 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 3 blocks (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). ASAC Comunicaciones Adba Aviles (6-14) is placed 13th in Group A. Mandic averaged so far 10.5ppg and 6.8rpg. She is a former U18 international player as seven years ago she still played for the Croatian national team.

   #11. International center Ana-Marija Begic (190-94, currently plays in Spain) faced previously mentioned Antonija Sandric in the Spanish LFB last game. Begic managed to help Campus Promete Logrono to win against the closely-ranked Gernika 76-69. She scored only 3 points. Begic's total stats this season are: 2.4ppg and 3.0rpg. She plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #12. International small forward Ruzica Dzankic (179-94, currently plays in Russia) helped Enisey Krasnoyarsk win their game against the league outsider Spartak Noginsk crushing them 68-44 in the Russian PBL on Monday night. Dzankic scored 5 points and added 3 passes in 20 minutes. This year Dzankic's total stats are: 3.8ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.5apg in 16 games. She is also in the roster of the Croatian national team.

   #13. Former international power forward Ivona Matic (189-86, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Bolzano in their game against Cagliari CUS in the Italian Serie A2 (second division). Matic scored 6 points. Her team was defeated 60-54. Matic averaged so far 12.2ppg, 10.3rpg, 1.2apg and 2.9spg. She used to play for the Croatian national team nine years ago.

   #14. Former U18 international guard Iva Ilic (170-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped Liberty win their game against the Longwood College crushing them 71-38 in the NCAA last Tuesday. Ilic recorded 12 points in 27 minutes. Ilic has averaged so far 7.5ppg, 1.6rpg and 1.8apg in 25 games. She used to play for the Croatian U18 national team back in 2015.

   #15. Former international forward Davorka Balic (188-88, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Cortegada in their game against Arxil Pontevedra in the Spanish LF2 (second division). Balic scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Her team was edged 55-52. Balic has averaged so far 7.2ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg. She used to play for the Croatian national team three years ago.

   #1. Dubravka Dacic (201-C-85, currently plays in Spain) could not help Al-Qazeres (9-11) in their last game. Despite her very good performance Al-Qazeres was edged 91-88 on the road by the lower-ranked (#11) Mann Filter. Dacic had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 13 rebounds in 32 minutes. It was Al-Qazeres' third consecutive loss in a row. It's Dacic's first season with the team. This year her overall stats are: 9.8ppg and 7.0rpg in 20 games she played so far. Dacic has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Italian.

   #2. Experienced Suzy Batkovic-Brown (195-C-80, currently plays in Australia) was not able to help Townsville Fire (14-10) in their last game. Despite Batkovic-Brown's very good performance Townsville Fire was crushed 111-69 in Sydney by the leading Uni Flames. She had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 10 rebounds. Batkovic-Brown also added 5 assists in 32 minutes. It's Batkovic-Brown's fourth season with the team. She has individually a very good year with high stats. Batkovic-Brown averages: 21.2ppg, 10.6rpg, 2.7apg and 1.2bpg in 25 games. She is another player who holds two passports: Croatian and Australian.

   #3. Iva Serdar (195-C-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Maribor (2-8) 75-56 in the Slovenian SKL in Tuesday night's game. Serdar scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 21 minutes. ZKD Janina (1-9) is placed third in Places 1-6 group. It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This year Serdar's total stats are: 9.7ppg and 7.8rpg in 15 games.

   #4. Martina Bozikov (189-PF-84, currently plays in Germany) managed to help ChemCats Chemnitz to win against the league outsider Rotenburg/Scheessel (3-16) 81-73 in the German DBBL last Sunday. Bozikov recorded only 2 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. ChemCats Chemnitz (17-7) is placed third in the DBBL. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Bozikov has averaged so far 5.3ppg and 4.3rpg.
