Here is the weekly review of the top performing Croatian players, who play currently abroad.


Ante Zizic

   #1. This week's number one is an international power forward Ante Zizic (210-97, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Turkey). He led Darussafaka to a victory over the league outsider TED Kolejliler (2-20) crushing them 88-57 in the Turkish BSL in Sunday night's game. Zizic was MVP of the game. He recorded 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 21 minutes on the court. Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul (15-7) is placed fifth in the BSL. It's Zizic's first season with the team. Zizic has relatively good stats this year: 12.1ppg, 5.1rpg, 2FGP: 75.0%(42-56) and FT: 75.8% in nine games he played so far. Ex-KK Ribola Kastela player is currently a member of the Croatian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Dario Saric (207-94, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Philadelphia 76ers (25-45) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Saric's very good performance the Philadelphia 76ers (25-45) were edged 106-104 on the road by the Golden State Warriors. He was the top scorer with 25 points. Saric also added 7 rebounds, 6 assists and made 2 blocks. Saric has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 12.5ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.2apg, 2FGP: 46.9%, 3FGP: 32.3% and FT: 78.0%. Ex-KK Cibona VIP Zagreb player is in the roster of the Croatian senior national team.

Hrvoje Peric

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85, currently plays in Italy). Peric was the main contributor in an Umana Venezia's victory against the ninth-ranked Auxilium TO (11-12) 89-70 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. He was the best player in that game. Peric scored 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 22 minutes. Umana Reyer Venezia (15-8) is placed second in the Serie A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Peric is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Umana Venezia's roster. This season he has relatively solid stats: 11.7ppg, 5.9rpg, 1.7apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 52.9%, 3FGP: 16.7% and FT: 73.6% in 22 games. Peric played for the Croatian national team two years ago.

   #4. Center Ivica Zubac (216-97, also represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in NBA) was not able to help the Los Angeles Lakers (20-50) in their last game on Monday. Despite his very good performance the Los Angeles Lakers (20-50) were crushed 129-101 in Denver by the Nuggets. Zubac recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 11 rebounds. Zubac has reliable stats this season: 7.2ppg and 4.1rpg. He is also Croatian national team player.

   #5. International point guard Rok Stipcevic (185-86, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Banco di Srd (12-11) in their last game. Despite Stipcevic's very good performance Banco di Srd lost 65-77 in Avellino to the higher-ranked (#3) Scandone AV. He was the top scorer with 18 points. Stipcevic also added 3 assists in 32 minutes. Stipcevic's stats this year are: 11.7ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.9apg in 23 games. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #6. Point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, agency: XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Greece) couldn't help AEK Athens (17-5) in their game against Olympiacos (19-0) in the Greek A1. Ukic scored 9 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. But AEK Athens was defeated 70-63 in a derby game by the leading Olympiacos. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Ukic's stats this season are: 10.9ppg, 2.7rpg and 3.7apg. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Tomic has been at the team for five years. This season his overall stats are: 8.5ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.8apg in 26 games. Tomic used to play for the Croatian national team two years ago.

   #8. Small forward Bojan Bogdanovic (203-89, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Washington Wizards (42-28) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his very good performance the Washington Wizards (42-28) were defeated 112-107 in Dallas by the Mavericks. Bogdanovic scored 19 points. This season Bogdanovic has very high stats. He averages: 15.3ppg and 3.1rpg. Bogdanovic plays currently for the Croatian national team.

International center Josip Sobin (203-89, another player represented by Alti Sport, currently plays in Poland) contributed to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked AZS Koszalin (8-17) 78-62 in the Polish PLK on Monday night. He had a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 10 rebounds in 26 minutes. Anwil Wloclawek (18-7) is placed second in the PLK. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. Sobin averaged so far 11.2ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.9apg and 1.1spg in 25 games. He is also in the roster of the Croatian national team.

Center Jure Lalic (211-86, currently plays in FYR Macedonia) contributed to a MZT Skopje's victory against the sixth-ranked Kozuv (0-2) 77-71 in the FYR Macedonian Prva Liga in Saturday night's game. Lalic was the top player that evening. He scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. KK MZT Skopje Aerodrom (2-0) is placed second in Places 1-6 group. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Lalic has very high stats. He averages: 15.5ppg and 5.5rpg. Lalic is a former U20 international player as eleven years ago he still played for the Croatian national team.

   #11. Former international point guard Marko Popovic (185-82, another player represented by Alti Sport, college: S.Idaho JC, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (10-14) in their last game. Despite his good performance Baloncesto Fuenlabrada lost 67-72 on the opponent's court to the lower-ranked (#13) Sevilla. Popovic was the top scorer with 11 points. He also added 5 assists in 25 minutes. Popovic averaged so far 11.7ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.0apg in 16 games. He used to play for the Croatian national team six years ago.

   #12. Former U20 international center Domagoj Bubalo (212-91, currently plays in Estonia) couldn't help Parnu in their game against Rapla in the Estonian Alexela KML. Despite his very good performance on Saturday night Bubalo was the second best scorer with 20 points. He also added 4 rebounds and 3 assists. This season Bubalo has very high stats. He averages: 16.6ppg, 8.1rpg and 1.7apg. Bubalo used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2011.

   #13. Former international center Luksa Andric (208-85, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Hungary) helped Szolnok win their game against the league outsider Vasas 96-88 in the Hungarian A Division in Thursday night's game. He scored 13 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 29 minutes. Andric averaged so far 11.1ppg, 6.6rpg, 2.2apg and 1.1spg in 13 games. He used to play for the Croatian national team three years ago.

   #14. Former U20 international point guard Juraj Segaric (185-93, currently plays in Slovenia) was the major contributor in Helios' victory against the second-ranked Portoroz crushing them 78-58 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM in Tuesday night's game. Segaric recorded 13 points and added 3 passes. His total stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 3.0rpg and 2.0apg. Segaric used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2013.

   #15. Former U18 international power forward Stjepan Tesija (206-89, currently plays in Bulgaria) couldn't help Beroe in their game against Spartak Pleven in the Bulgarian NBL. Tesija recorded 6 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. His team was defeated 89-84. Tesija's total stats this season are: 9.2ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.1apg. He used to play for the Croatian U18 national team ten years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Pankracije Barac (196-G-81, agency: Court Side, currently plays in Switzerland) could not help Monthey (14-6) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Barac's very good performance Monthey was defeated 80-73 on the road by the lower-ranked Lausanne (#8). He was the top scorer with 29 points (made all of his seventeen free throws !!!). The Regular Season already ended. Barac has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 23.0ppg, 4.3rpg, 3.3apg and 2.0spg.

   #2. Toni Bizaca (202-F-82, agency: XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Sweden) led Sodertalje Kings to a 1-point victory over the closely-ranked KFUM Jamtland (15-15) 99-98 in the Swedish Basketligan on Friday night. Bizaca was the top player that evening. He recorded 32 points (!!!) and grabbed 5 rebounds in 33 minutes. Sodertalje Kings (21-9) is placed third in the Basketligan. Bizaca's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Bizaca plays fifth season for the team. He has very impressive stats this year: 18.2ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.6apg in 28 games he played so far.

   #3. Mladen Pavlovic (193-G-89, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Sloga (7-14) crushing them 82-61 in the Serbian KLS last Saturday. He scored 7 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 29 minutes. KK Vrsac Swisslion (17-4) is placed first in the KLS. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This year Pavlovic's total stats are: 8.4ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.4apg and 1.3spg in 20 games. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Serbian.

   #4. Veljko Budimir (199-F-85, currently plays in Hungary) was not able to help PVSK Pannon (13-11) in their last game. Despite Budimir's very good performance PVSK Pannon lost 87-91 at home to the lower-ranked (#11) Atomeromu. He was the second best scorer with 17 points in 37 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Budimir plays fourth season for the team. Budimir averaged so far 14.1ppg, 4.6rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg in 24 games.

   #5. Igor Maric (196-F-85, currently plays in Slovakia) was the major contributor in Prievidza's victory against the seventh-ranked Lucenec (17-20) crushing them 100-70 in the Slovakian SBL on Wednesday night. He recorded 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. BC Prievidza (26-11) is placed third in the SBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Maric averaged so far 13.8ppg, 5.9rpg, 1.9apg and 1.4spg.

   #6. Marijan Cakarun (204-C-90, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for La ICL Manresa in their game against Gran Canaria in the Spanish Liga Endesa. He recorded 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 24 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 19 points 95-76. This year Cakarun's total stats are: 7.4ppg and 4.2rpg in 24 games.

   #7. Mladen Primorac (210-C-90, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to an USK Praha's victory against the second-ranked BK Pardubice 74-67 in the Czech Republic NBL on Saturday night. He scored 6 points, had 11 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 30 minutes. This year Primorac's total stats are: 8.7ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.5apg in 19 games.

   #8. Ivan Platenik (201-F-83, college: Alaska-Anch., currently plays in Australia) led McKinnon Cougars to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Whittlesea City crushing them 98-61 in the Australian State League (second division) in Saturday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 14 rebounds. Platenik also added 3 assists. It was his first game for McKinnon Cougars this season. Platenik is another player who holds two passports: Croatian and Australian.

   #9. Aleksandar Marcius (208-C-90, college: De Paul, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Caceres Basket (12-16) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance Caceres Basket was defeated 97-83 in S'Arenal by the higher-ranked Palma (#10). Marcius recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 15 rebounds. Marcius averaged so far 13.8ppg, 7.8rpg and 1.1spg.

   #10. Marko Jagodic Kuridza (205-PF-87, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) managed to help Telenet BC Oostende in a victory in overtime against the third-ranked Enisey 95-79 in the FIBA Europe Cup on Wednesday night. He scored only 2 points in 14 minutes. This year Jagodic Kuridza's total stats are: 4.5ppg and 1.8rpg in four games. He has both Serbian and Croatian nationalities.
