We bring you last week's top performances from Croatians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Turkey). She led Besiktas to a victory over the closely-ranked Galatasaray (12-10) 89-76 in a derby game in the Turkish KBSL in Thursday night's game. Zellous was MVP of the game. She scored 35 points (!!!), had 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 40 minutes on the court. Besiktas CT Istanbul (17-5) is placed third in the KBSL. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Zellous has individually a very good year with high stats. She averages: 18.3ppg, 6.0rpg, 3.4apg, 2FGP: 42.4%, 3FGP: 26.9% and FT: 82.7% in 22 games she played so far. Zellous is a naturalized American. She is currently a member of the Croatian senior national team. Strangely Zellous has never played in Croatia.

Marija Rezan

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Marija Rezan (198-89, currently plays in Poland). She could not help one of league's weakest teams CCC Polkowice (14-8) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Rezan's very good performance CCC Polkowice was edged 84-82 on the road by the higher-ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#4). She recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 13 rebounds. Rezan also added 2 blocks. Rezan's overall stats this season are: 9.7ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.5bpg, 2FGP: 51.8% and FT: 67.4%. She is in the roster of the Croatian senior national team.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Mirna Mazic (188-85, agency: 1x1 Sports, college: Richmond, currently plays in Turkey). Mazic contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Mersin MBK (5-16) crushing them 80-53 in the Turkish KBSL on Wednesday night. She scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 21 minutes. Abdullah Gul University Kayseri (15-5) is placed third in the KBSL. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Mazic's overall stats are: 7.4ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 41.7%, 3FGP: 35.7% and FT: 70.6% in nine games. She played for the Croatian national team two years ago.

   #4. Shooting guard Iva Slonjsak (183-97, currently plays in Slovenia) was the major contributor in a Athlete Celje's victory against the third-ranked Ilrija (8-6) crushing them 91-65 in the Slovenian SKL in Wednesday night's game. Slonjsak scored 20 points. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Places 1-6. ZKK Athlete Celje (12-1) is placed first. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. This season Slonjsak has very high stats. She averages: 15.7ppg, 5.6rpg, 3.4apg and 1.6spg. Slonjsak is also Croatian U20 national team player.

International center Ivana Tikvic (189-94, currently plays in Italy) contributed to Torino's victory against one of league's weakest teams Battipaglia (4-17) 71-60 in the Italian Serie A1 last Sunday. She had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 12 rebounds. Tikvic also added 3 assists, 3 blocks and 4 steals in 30 minutes. Fixi Piramis Torino (6-15) is placed ninth in the Serie A1. They ended the series of five consecutive loses. Her team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. This year Tikvic's total stats are: 9.5ppg, 8.4rpg, 1.1bpg and 2.2spg in 21 games. She plays currently for the Croatian national team.

Josipa Bura

   #6. Center Josipa Bura (186-85, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked LOKO Trutnov (11-11) crushing them 100-56 in the Czech Republic ZBL on Wednesday night. Bura recorded 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Sokol ZVUS Hradec Kralove (17-5) is placed sixth in Play-Offs group. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Bura has averaged so far 7.3ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.4apg and 1.5spg. She is a former international player as she played for the Croatian senior team eight years ago.

   #7. An experienced former international center Emilija Podrug (190-79, currently plays in France) was not able to help Toulouse (15-4) in their last game. Despite Podrug's very good performance Toulouse was edged 68-67 in llkirch-Graff. by the lower-ranked (#8) SIG. She was the second best scorer with 17 points. Podrug also added 8 rebounds and 3 assists in 36 minutes. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. It's Podrug's first season with the team. She has relatively good stats this year: 10.7ppg, 5.8rpg and 3.6apg in 18 games. Podrug used to play for the Croatian national team seven years ago.

   #8. Power forward Ivona Matic (189-86, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Bolzano (6-2) in their last game. Despite Matic's very good performance the third-placed Bolzano (6-2) was edged 57-54 at home by the second-ranked Empoli in the Group A. She had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 14 rebounds in 36 minutes. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. This year Matic has relatively solid stats: 12.5ppg, 10.3rpg, 1.2apg and 2.9spg in 22 games. She used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2008.

   #9. International shooting guard Ivana Dojkic (180-97, currently plays in Russia) couldn't help Spartak Vidnoye (7-13) in their game against Dynamo Kursk (19-1) in the Russian PBL. Dojkic recorded 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. But Spartak Vidnoye was crushed 93-60 in Kursk by the leading Dynamo. Dojkic has averaged so far 8.9ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.7apg and 2.0spg. She is also in the roster of the Croatian national team.

   #10. Center Luca Ivankovic (201-87, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Botas (10-12) in their game against Istanbul Uni (12-9) in the Turkish KBSL. Ivankovic scored 8 points in 18 minutes. Botas lost 72-76 in Istanbul to the higher-ranked (#6) Istanbul Uni. It was Botas' third consecutive loss in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Ivankovic has averaged so far 4.0ppg and 5.3rpg in 13 games. She is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

   #11. International center Ana-Marija Begic (190-94, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Campus Promete in their game against Cadi La Seu in the Spanish LFB. Begic scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Her team was badly defeated by 18 points 75-57. Begic has averaged so far 2.9ppg and 3.0rpg. She plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #12. International power forward Nina Premasunac (186-92, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams La Spezia in their last game. Despite Premasunac's good performance La Spezia lost 63-68 on their home court in La Spezia to the higher-ranked (#4) San Martino. She scored 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 24 minutes. Premasunac has reliable stats this year: 12.7ppg, 8.2rpg and 1.5spg in 21 games. She is also in the roster of the Croatian national team.

   #13. Former U18 international center Andrea Maric (195-97, currently plays in Slovenia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Iva Slonjsak and both played together in the last Slovenian SKL game. Maric contributed to an easy victory against the third-ranked Ilrija crushing them 91-65. She scored 6 points. Maric has averaged so far 9.7ppg and 8.4rpg. She used to play for the Croatian U18 national team three years ago.

   #14. International forward Antonija Sandric (181-88, also represented by 1x1 Sports, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Gernika in their game against Gipuzkoa UPV in the Spanish LFB. Sandric scored 5 points in 26 minutes. Her team was edged 70-69. Sandric's stats this year are: 10.7ppg, 2.3rpg, 1.6apg and 1.2spg in 11 games. She plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #15. Former U18 international guard Martina Tomic (176-92, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to Janina's victory against the fourth-ranked Maribor 46-41 in the Slovenian SKL last Tuesday. She scored 9 points and added 3 assists in 33 minutes. Tomic has very impressive stats this year: 15.4ppg, 3.6rpg and 1.6spg in 19 games. She used to play for the Croatian U18 national team seven years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Dubravka Dacic (201-C-85, currently plays in Turkey) could not help Osmaniye (4-17) in their last game on Thursday. Despite her very good performance the bottom-ranked Osmaniye was edged 76-74 on the road by the higher-ranked Adana ASKI (#8). Dacic scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. This season Dacic has relatively solid stats: 14.0ppg, 9.0rpg, 1.5apg and 1.5spg. She has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Italian.

   #2. Experienced Iva Serdar (195-C-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in Slovenia) was the major contributor in Janina's victory against the fourth-ranked Maribor (3-10) 46-41 in the Slovenian SKL in Tuesday night's game. Serdar scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. ZKD Janina (2-11) is placed sixth in Places 1-6 group. Serdar has averaged so far 9.2ppg and 7.6rpg.

   #3. Martina Bozikov (189-PF-84, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help ChemCats Chemnitz in their game against TSV 1880 Wasserburg (20-2) in the German DBBL. Bozikov recorded 5 points in 18 minutes. ChemCats Chemnitz was crushed 87-62 in Wasserburg by the leading TSV 1880. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. Bozikov has averaged so far 4.7ppg and 3.8rpg in 11 games she played so far.

   #4. Iva Bosnjak (174-G/F-1, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to secure a victory for Winterthur (0-3) in their game against Helios (1-1) in the Swiss LNA. She cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. Bosnjak scored only 2 points in 8 minutes on the court. Winterthur (#5) was badly defeated 68-48 at home by the higher-ranked (#3) Helios in the Places 1-5 group. So far Winterthur lost all three games in the Second Stage. Her team will play only one more game in the Second Stage. Bosnjak has averaged so far 2.5ppg and 1.6rpg in 17 games.
