We bring you last week's top performances from Croatians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Darko Planinic (211-90, currently plays in Spain). He led Gran Canaria to a victory over the 15th-ranked Zaragoza (8-17) crushing them 102-57 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. Planinic was MVP of the game. He scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in a mere 19 minutes on the court. Herbalife Gran Canaria (17-8) is placed sixth in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. It's Planinic's first season with the team. This year Planinic averages: 8.0ppg, 2.8rpg, 2FGP: 60.7%(37-61) and FT: 74.5% in 14 games he played so far. Ex-KK Cibona VIP Zagreb player is currently a member of the Croatian senior national team.

Dario Saric

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Dario Saric (207-94, currently plays in NBA). He was the main contributor in a Philadelphia 76ers' victory against the Chicago Bulls (35-39) 117-107 in the NBA last Friday. Saric was the best player in that game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 32 points and getting 10 rebounds. The Philadelphia 76ers have 26-47 record this season. Saric has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 12.8ppg, 6.4rpg, 2.2apg, 2FGP: 46.7%, 3FGP: 32.1% and FT: 78.5%. Ex-KK Cibona VIP Zagreb player is in the roster of the Croatian senior national team.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international point guard Marko Popovic (185-82, agency: Alti Sport, college: S.Idaho JC, currently plays in Spain). Popovic contributed to a Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's victory against the league outsider La ICL Manresa (4-21) 90-82 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night. He was the top player that evening. Popovic scored 30 points (!!!) in 25 minutes. Montakit Fuenlabrada (11-14) is placed ninth in the Liga Endesa. Popovic has relatively good stats this year: 12.8ppg, 1.3rpg, 1.9apg, 2FGP: 39.6%, 3FGP: 35.7% and FT: 89.8% in 17 games. He played for the Croatian national team six years ago.

   #4. Forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) could not help Umana Venezia (9-5) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Peric's very good performance the third-placed Umana Venezia (9-5) was edged 74-71 on the road by the second-ranked Pinar Karsiyaka in the group B of Basketball Champions League. He was the second best scorer with 16 points. Peric also added 4 rebounds. Peric is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Umana Venezia's roster. This season he has relatively solid stats: 11.8ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.7apg. Peric used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2015.

   #5. Former international center Ante Tomic (217-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help FC Barcelona (11-17) in their last game. Despite his good performance FC Barcelona was badly defeated 85-69 in Madrid by the leading Real. Tomic had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds in 29 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Tomic has been at the team for five years. This season his overall stats are: 8.6ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.8apg in 27 games. Tomic used to play for the Croatian national team two years ago.

Point guard Rok Stipcevic (185-86, also represented by Alti Sport, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) was not able to secure a victory for Banco di Srd (7-7) in their game against Monaco (12-2) in the Basketball Champions League. Despite his very good performance on Wednesday night He was the top scorer with 17 points. Stipcevic also added 5 assists. Stipcevic has reliable stats this season: 12.3ppg, 1.6rpg and 4.1apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

   #7. International point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, another player represented by XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Greece) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams AEK Athens (17-6) in their game against Panathinaikos (22-1) in the Greek A1, despite his good performance in Sunday night's game. Ukic was the second best scorer with 12 points in 43 minutes. But AEK Athens was badly defeated 106-87 in a derby game by the second-ranked Panathinaikos. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Ukic's stats this year are: 10.9ppg, 2.7rpg and 3.7apg in 23 games. He is also Croatian national team player.

Power forward Ante Zizic (210-97, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Turkey) helped Darussafaka win their game against the 13th-ranked Usak Sportlif (7-16) 78-70 in the Turkish BSL last Monday. Zizic scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul (16-7) is placed fifth in the BSL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Zizic's stats this season are: 12.2ppg and 5.0rpg. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

International center Justin Hamilton (213-90, college: LSU, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Brooklyn Nets (16-57) in their game against the Washington Wizards (45-28) in the NBA, despite his very good performance on Friday night. Hamilton was the top scorer with 20 points. He also added 6 rebounds in 23 minutes. But the Brooklyn Nets (16-57) were crushed 129-108 in Washington by the Wizards. This year Hamilton's total stats are: 6.8ppg and 4.2rpg in 56 games. He is a naturalized American. Hamilton is also in the roster of the Croatian national team. He used to play for KK Cibona VIP Zagreb in Croatian league.

Center Ivica Zubac (216-97, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Los Angeles Lakers (21-52) in their game against the Los Angeles Clippers (44-31) in the NBA. Despite his very good performance in Tuesday night's game Zubac scored 17 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Zubac averaged so far 7.6ppg and 4.3rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

   #11. International small forward Bojan Bogdanovic (203-89, currently plays in NBA) faced previously mentioned Justin Hamilton in the NBA last game. Bogdanovic helped Washington Wizards win their game against the Brooklyn Nets crushing them 129-108. He scored 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line) in 26 minutes. Bogdanovic has very impressive stats this year: 14.8ppg and 3.2rpg in 17 games. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #12. Former U20 international power forward Ivan Buva (208-91, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help RETAbet BB in their game against Real Madrid in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Despite his very good performance on Sunday night Buva was the top scorer with 18 points. He also added 4 rebounds. Buva averaged so far 11.5ppg and 5.4rpg. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2011.

   #13. International power forward Leon Radosevic (207-90, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Euroleague) helped his German team Brose Baskets win their game against one of league's weakest teams Armani Milano 84-76 in the Euroleague last Thursday. Radosevic recorded 9 points and added 3 passes. Radosevic has averaged so far 6.1ppg and 2.5rpg. He is also Croatian national team player.

   #14. International point guard Oliver Lafayette (188-84, another player represented by BeoBasket, college: Houston, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Unicaja Malaga in their game against Valencia Basket in the Spanish Liga Endesa, despite his good performance on Saturday night. Lafayette was the second best scorer with 11 points in a mere 16 minutes. But his team lost 77-81. Lafayette has averaged so far 5.2ppg, 1.1rpg and 1.8apg in 22 games. He is a naturalized American. Lafayette plays currently for the Croatian national team. Strangely he has never played in Croatia.

   #15. International point guard Dontaye Draper (180-84, college: Charleston, currently plays in Spain) faced previously mentioned Ivan Buva in the Spanish Liga Endesa last game. Draper managed to help Real Madrid to win against the tenth-ranked RETAbet BB crushing them 104-76. He scored only 2 points, made 5 passes and 3 steals. Draper has averaged so far 3.1ppg and 1.4apg. He is a naturalized American. Draper is also in the roster of the Croatian national team. He used to play for Cedevita Zagreb in Croatian league.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Mladen Pavlovic (193-G-89, currently plays in Serbia) was the major contributor in Vrsac's victory against the league outsider Smederevo (2-20) crushing them 105-69 in the Serbian KLS in Saturday night's game. Pavlovic recorded 16 points and added 3 passes (made all of his five free throws) in 24 minutes. KK Vrsac Swisslion (18-4) is placed first in the KLS. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Pavlovic has averaged so far 8.7ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.4apg and 1.3spg in 21 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Serbian.

   #2. Veljko Budimir (199-F-85, currently plays in Hungary) led PVSK Pannon to a victory over the league outsider Vasas (4-22) 79-66 in the Hungarian A Division last Sunday. Budimir was the top player that evening. He scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. PVSK Pannonpower Pecs (15-11) is placed seventh in the A Division. The Regular Season already ended. Budimir plays fourth season for the team. Budimir averaged so far 14.4ppg, 4.8rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg.

   #3. Igor Maric (196-F-85, currently plays in Slovakia) was the main contributor in Prievidza's victory against the closely-ranked Inter Bratislava (28-11) 97-82 in the Slovakian SBL in Saturday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Maric recorded 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) in 29 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. BC Prievidza (28-11) is placed third in the SBL. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Maric averaged so far 13.7ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.9apg and 1.3spg in 35 games.

   #4. Marijan Cakarun (204-C-90, currently plays in Spain) could not help La ICL Manresa (4-21) in their last game. Despite his good performance the bottom-ranked La ICL Manresa lost 82-90 on the road to the much higher-ranked (#9) Baloncesto Fuenlabrada. Cakarun was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 8 rebounds in 24 minutes. Cakarun has averaged so far 7.6ppg and 4.4rpg in 25 games.

   #5. Marko Jagodic Kuridza (205-PF-87, currently plays in Belgium) contributed to Oostende's victory against the closely-ranked Antwerp Giants (17-9) 72-64 in the Belgian Euromillions League in Saturday night's game. He scored 7 points in only 14 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Telenet BC Oostende (22-4) is placed first in the Euromillions League. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. Jagodic Kuridza has averaged so far 6.3ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.2apg in 25 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Serbian and Croatian.

   #6. Mladen Primorac (210-C-90, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to an USK Praha's victory against the fifth-ranked BK Opava 79-73 in the Czech Republic NBL on Saturday night. Primorac recorded 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) in 27 minutes. Primorac has averaged so far 8.9ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.5apg in 20 games.

   #7. Experienced Sasa Jankovic (204-F-84, currently plays in Slovakia) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Nitra 89-73 in the Slovakian SBL on Wednesday night. He scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Jankovic averaged so far 11.2ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.7apg.

   #8. Toni Bizaca (202-F-82, agency: XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to a Sodertalje Kings' victory against the closely-ranked Uppsala Basket 65-60 in the Swedish Basketligan last Wednesday. He scored 19 points in 30 minutes. Bizaca has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.6ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.6apg in 30 games.

   #9. Dino Cinac (201-F-88, currently plays in Sweden) helped KFUM Jamtland win their game against the second-ranked Norrkoping Dolphins 78-74 in the Swedish Basketligan on Tuesday night. Cinac scored 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. This season Cinac has very high stats. He averages: 17.5ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.1apg and 1.2spg.

   #10. Ivan Platenik (201-F-83, college: Alaska-Anch., currently plays in Australia) was not able to help McKinnon Cougars in their game against Devils in the Australian State League (second division). Despite his very good performance last Saturday Platenik was the second best scorer with 21 points. He also added 5 rebounds. This season Platenik has very high stats. He averages: 19.5ppg, 9.5rpg, 2.5apg and 2.0spg. Platenik has both Croatian and Australian nationalities.

Skrljevo announced the signig of American Jaron Nash for the coming season. Nash arrives from Argentinian side Atletico Echague Parana, where he averaged 4.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.6 blocks in 18 TNA League games last season. Nash played college basketball at Texax Tech and North Dakota from 2011 to 2015. In his last NCAA' season, 2014-15, Nash averaged 12.4 points and 6.3 rebounds in 29 games with North Dakota. Panevezys Lietkabelis (LKL) is close to ink 29-year old Croatian international guard Ante Delas (200-88) who played last time at BCC Corvengenze Agropoli in Italy. Delas managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 11 Serie A2 games he averaged 11.0ppg, 4.2rpg, 1.9apg and 1.4spg. He also played that season for Belfius Mons Hainaut in Belgian Euromillions League where in 17 games he had 7.5ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.5apg. GKK Sibenik made their first addition for the upcoming season by signing Toni Vitali(203-F-91) on a one-year deal. Vitali arrives from Zagreb, where he averaged 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.8 blocks in 28 Croatian A1 League games last season. Vitali grew up with Trogir and has already played for Alkar plus Boras in Sweden.
