Here is the weekly review of the top performing Croatian players, who play currently abroad.


Shavonte Zellous

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Turkey). She led Besiktas to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Girne Universitesi (5-18) 71-65 in the Turkish KBSL in Monday night's game. Zellous was MVP of the game. She had a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 10 rebounds. Zellous also added 3 assists in 39 minutes on the court. Besiktas CT Istanbul (18-5) is placed third in the KBSL. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Zellous' first season with the team. She has individually a very good year with high stats. Zellous averages: 18.3ppg, 6.1rpg, 3.4apg, 2FGP: 42.7%, 3FGP: 26.0% and FT: 83.0% in 23 games she played so far. She is a naturalized American. Zellous is currently a member of the Croatian senior national team. Strangely she has never played in Croatia.

Marija Rezan

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Marija Rezan (198-89, currently plays in Poland). Rezan was the main contributor in a CCC Polkowice's victory against the closely-ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (15-7) 63-52 in the Polish TBLK last Sunday. She was the best player in that game. Rezan recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 13 rebounds. She also added 3 assists and 2 blocks. CCC Polkowice (14-8) is placed fifth in the TBLK. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Rezan's overall stats this season are: 9.5ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.5bpg, 2FGP: 51.9% and FT: 65.3%. She is in the roster of the Croatian senior national team.

Antonija Sandric

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Antonija Sandric (181-88, agency: 1x1 Sports, currently plays in Spain). Sandric contributed to Gernika's victory against the tenth-ranked Mann Filter (10-15) 78-64 in the Spanish LFB on Saturday night. She recorded 15 points (made all of her five free throws) in 28 minutes. Gernika Bizkaia (16-9) is placed third in the LFB. Sandric's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Sandric has relatively good stats this year: 11.1ppg, 2.2rpg, 1.6apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 49.1%, 3FGP: 44.4% and FT: 86.4% in 12 games. She is also a member of the Croatian senior national team.

Josipa Bura

   #4. Center Josipa Bura (186-85, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked LOKO Trutnov (11-11) crushing them 78-52 in the Czech Republic ZBL in Wednesday night's game. Bura scored 8 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Sokol ZVUS Hradec Kralove (17-5) is placed sixth in Play-Offs group. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Bura's overall stats this season are: 7.3ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.4apg and 1.4spg. She used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2009.

   #5. International center Ivana Tikvic (189-94, currently plays in Italy) could not help Torino (6-16) in their last game. Despite Tikvic's very good performance Torino lost 83-93 on the road to the leading Napoli. She was the second best scorer with 22 points. Tikvic also added 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Tikvic has relatively solid stats: 10.1ppg, 8.3rpg, 1.1bpg and 2.1spg in 22 games. She plays currently for the Croatian national team.

Shooting guard Iva Slonjsak (183-97, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to a Athlete Celje's victory against the fourth-ranked Triglav (12-8) 53-48 in the Slovenian SKL on Wednesday night. Slonjsak scored 8 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists. ZKK Athlete Celje (13-1) is placed first in Places 1-6 group. It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This season Slonjsak has very high stats. She averages: 15.3ppg, 5.5rpg, 3.5apg and 1.6spg. Slonjsak is U20 international player who is currently on the Croatian National Team roster.

   #7. An experienced former international center Emilija Podrug (190-79, currently plays in France) was not able to help Toulouse (15-4) in their last game. Despite her very good performance Toulouse was edged 72-70 at home by the leading Avenir. Podrug was the second best scorer with 15 points. She also added 5 boards, passed 6 assists and added 3 steals in 34 minutes. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be extremely important. Podrug has reliable stats this year: 10.9ppg, 5.7rpg and 3.7apg in 19 games. She used to play for the Croatian national team seven years ago.

   #8. Guard Carmen Miloglav (170-91, agency: ProDep Management, college: FIU, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca to win against the 11th-ranked Socinsa Bembibre (9-16) 67-50 in the Spanish LFB last Saturday. Miloglav recorded only 3 points. Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca (24-1) is placed first in the LFB. It was her team's 19th consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. This season Miloglav averages just 0.9ppg. She used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2015.

   #9. Former U18 international center Andrea Maric (195-97, currently plays in Slovenia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Iva Slonjsak and both played together in the last Slovenian SKL game. Maric helped Athlete Celje win their game against the fourth-ranked Triglav (12-8) 53-48. She scored 10 points in 21 minutes. This year Maric's overall stats are: 9.7ppg and 8.1rpg in 17 games. She used to play for the Croatian U18 national team three years ago.

Despite Ivankovic's good performance Botas was defeated 75-60 in Istanbul by the higher-ranked Besiktas (#5). She scored 11 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. Ivankovic's total stats this season are: 4.5ppg and 5.4rpg. She is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

   #11. International shooting guard Ivana Dojkic (180-97, currently plays in Russia) couldn't help Spartak Vidnoye in their game against Dynamo Kursk in the Russian PBL. Dojkic scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Her team was crushed by 26 points 86-60. Dojkic's total stats this season are: 8.8ppg, 2.7rpg, 2.6apg and 2.0spg. She plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #12. Former U18 international center Jovana Mandic (193-92, also represented by ProDep Management, college: Nicholls St., currently plays in Spain) couldn't help ADBA (7-17) in their last game. Despite Mandic's very good performance the 13th-placed ADBA was badly defeated 75-57 on their home court in Aviles by the second-ranked Sant Adria in the Group A. She had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 11 rebounds in 38 minutes. Mandic's stats this year are: 11.2ppg and 6.9rpg in 21 games. She used to play for the Croatian U18 national team back in 2010.

   #13. Former U18 international guard Martina Tomic (176-92, currently plays in Slovenia) couldn't help Janina (2-12) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Tomic's very good performance Janina (#6) was badly defeated 68-51 on their home court in by the lower-ranked Konjice (#8) in the Places 1-6 group. She was the top scorer with 15 points. Tomic also added 6 rebounds. This season Tomic has very high stats. She averages: 15.4ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.6spg. Tomic used to play for the Croatian U18 national team seven years ago.

   #14. International center Ana-Marija Begic (190-94, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Campus Promete in their game against Gipuzkoa UPV in the Spanish LFB. She recorded only 4 points in 18 minutes. Her team was crushed by 26 points 92-66. This year Begic's total stats are: 2.9ppg and 2.9rpg in 25 games. She plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #15. Former international power forward Ivona Matic (189-86, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Bolzano in their game against Costa Masnaga in the Italian Serie A2 (second division). Matic scored 5 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Her team was crushed by 54 points 96-42. Matic averaged so far 12.1ppg, 10.3rpg, 1.2apg and 2.7spg. She used to play for the Croatian national team nine years ago.

   #1. Dubravka Dacic (201-C-85, agency: ProDep Management, currently plays in Turkey) could not help Osmaniye (4-18) in their last game. Despite Dacic's good performance the bottom-ranked Osmaniye lost 57-65 on the road to the much higher-ranked (#6) Hatay. She was the second best scorer with 14 points. Dacic also added 8 rebounds in 34 minutes. It was Osmaniye's third consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. Dacic's stats this year are: 14.0ppg, 8.7rpg and 1.3spg in three games she played so far. She has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Italian.

   #2. Experienced Iva Serdar (195-C-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in Slovenia) was not able to help Janina in their game against Konjice (9-11) in the Slovenian SKL. Serdar scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 19 minutes. Janina (#6) was badly defeated 68-51 at home by the lower-ranked (#8) Konjice in the Places 1-6 group. Serdar has averaged so far 8.9ppg and 7.5rpg in 19 games.
