Here is the weekly review of the top performing Croatian players, who play currently abroad.


Ante Tomic

   #1. This week's number one is former international center Ante Tomic (217-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Spain). He could not help FC Barcelona (17-8) in their last game. Despite Tomic's very good performance FC Barcelona lost 82-95 on the road to the much lower-ranked (#14) Gran Canaria. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 14 rebounds in 30 minutes on the court. It's Tomic's fifth season with the team. Tomic has relatively good stats this year: 12.8ppg, 7.7rpg, 2.2apg, 2FGP: 65.1%(121-186) and FT: 63.0% in 25 games he played so far. He played for the Croatian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Ante Zizic (210-97, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Turkey). Zizic led Darussafaka to a victory against the 13th-ranked Usak Sportlif (7-17) 78-70 in the Turkish BSL last Monday. He scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul (17-7) is placed fifth in the BSL. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This season Zizic has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 4.5rpg, 2FGP: 75.0%(48-64) and FT: 73.0%. Ex-KK Ribola Kastela player is in the roster of the Croatian senior national team.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Dario Saric (207-94, currently plays in NBA). He led Philadelphia 76ers to a victory over the Brooklyn Nets (18-59) 106-101 in the NBA on Tuesday night. Saric was MVP of the game. He scored 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 37 minutes. The Philadelphia 76ers have 27-50 record this season. Saric has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 12.9ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.2apg, 2FGP: 46.5%, 3FGP: 31.5% and FT: 78.5% in 77 games. Ex-KK Cibona VIP Zagreb player is also a member of the Croatian senior national team.

An experienced point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, also represented by XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Greece) was the major contributor in an AEK Athens' victory against the league outsider Doxa Lefkadas (4-20) 68-64 in the Greek A1 in Saturday night's game. Ukic scored 12 points. AEK Athens (18-6) is placed third in the A1. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Ukic's first season with the team. He has reliable stats this year: 11.0ppg, 2.6rpg and 3.6apg. Ukic is also Croatian national team player.

   #5. International small forward Bojan Bogdanovic (203-89, currently plays in NBA) was not able to help the Washington Wizards (46-31) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Washington Wizards (46-31) were crushed 139-115 in Oakland by the Golden State Warriors. Bogdanovic was the second best scorer with 20 points. He also added 6 rebounds in 29 minutes. It was Wizards' third consecutive loss in a row. Bogdanovic has very impressive stats this year: 13.8ppg and 3.2rpg in 21 games. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

Sobin recorded 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Anwil Wloclawek (20-7) is placed second in the PLK. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. Sobin's stats this season are: 11.3ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.9apg and 1.1spg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

Former international forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) contributed to an Umana Venezia's victory against the closely-ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (9-5) 74-66 in the Basketball Champions League in Wednesday night's game. Peric scored 11 points in a mere 16 minutes. Umana Reyer Venezia (9-5) is placed third in group B. Peric is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Umana Venezia's roster. He averaged so far 11.8ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.7apg in 18 games. Peric used to play for the Croatian national team two years ago.

   #8. Center Darko Planinic (211-90, currently plays in Spain) faced previously mentioned Ante Tomic in the Spanish Liga Endesa last game. Planinic contributed to a Gran Canaria's victory against the closely-ranked FC Barcelona (17-8) 95-82. He scored 10 points. Planinic's overall stats this season are: 8.1ppg and 2.7rpg. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

Radosevic recorded 11 points in 21 minutes. Brose Baskets Bamberg (24-3) is placed second in the BBL. This year Radosevic's overall stats are: 7.2ppg and 2.8rpg in 16 games. He is also in the roster of the Croatian national team.

Center Domagoj Bubalo (212-91, agency: 011 Sports, currently plays in Estonia) was the main contributor in Parnu's victory against the fifth-ranked TTU (14-12) 85-71 in the Estonian Alexela KML in Wednesday night's game. Bubalo was the best player in that game. He scored 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Parnu Sadam (4-0) is placed first in the Alexela KML. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. The Regular Season already ended. This season Bubalo has very high stats. He averages: 16.8ppg, 8.1rpg and 1.7apg. Bubalo is a former U20 international player as six years ago he still played for the Croatian national team.

   #11. Former international point guard Marko Popovic (185-82, another player represented by Alti Sport, college: S.Idaho JC, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (11-15) in their last game. Despite his good performance Baloncesto Fuenlabrada was edged 101-99 in a derby game by the higher-ranked (#4) Real Madrid. Popovic scored 10 points and added 7 assists in 25 minutes. Popovic's stats this year are: 12.6ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.2apg in 18 games. He used to play for the Croatian national team six years ago.

   #12. International center Justin Hamilton (213-90, college: LSU, currently plays in NBA) helped Brooklyn Nets win their game against the Orlando Magic 121-111 in the NBA on Saturday night. Hamilton recorded 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Hamilton's total stats this season are: 6.8ppg and 4.1rpg. He is a naturalized American. Hamilton is also in the roster of the Croatian national team. He used to play for KK Cibona VIP Zagreb in Croatian league.

   #13. Former U20 international guard Toni Prostran (182-91, currently plays in Lithuania) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Nevezis in their game against Dzukija in the Lithuanian LKL. Despite his very good performance last Saturday Prostran was the top scorer with 16 points. He also added 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Prostran averaged so far 11.9ppg, 2.7rpg and 7.3apg. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team six years ago.

   #14. International center Ivica Zubac (216-97, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Los Angeles Lakers in their game against the Washington Wizards in the NBA, despite his good performance on Tuesday night. Zubac scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 18 minutes. But his team lost 108-119 in the NBA. Zubac averaged so far 7.5ppg and 4.1rpg in 38 games. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #15. Former U18 international power forward Stjepan Tesija (206-89, currently plays in Balkan League) helped his Bulgarian team Beroe win their game against the tenth-ranked Teodo Tivat crushing them 92-56 in the Balkan League in Tuesday night's game. Tesija scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Tesija's total stats this season are: 9.8ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.6apg and 1.2spg. He used to play for the Croatian U18 national team ten years ago.

   #1. Mladen Pavlovic (193-G-89, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to Vrsac's victory against the tenth-ranked Metalac (11-13) 94-87 in the Serbian KLS in Monday night's game. Pavlovic scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 23 minutes. KK Vrsac Swisslion (20-4) is placed first in the KLS. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Pavlovic's total stats are: 8.6ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.3apg and 1.4spg in 23 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Serbian.

   #2. Experienced Sasa Jankovic (204-F-84, currently plays in Slovakia) led Iskra Svit to a victory over the closely-ranked Lucenec (18-22) 93-88 in the Slovakian SBL last Wednesday. Jankovic was the top player that evening. He scored 19 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 30 minutes. BK Iskra Svit (22-18) is placed sixth in the SBL. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Jankovic averaged so far 11.2ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.8apg in 41 games.

   #3. Milan Stegnjaic (204-F/C-81, currently plays in Austria) was the major contributor in a Kapfenberg Bulls' victory against the closely-ranked Raiffeisen Wels (13-14) 90-74 in the Austrian A Bundesliga on Saturday night. He scored 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. ECE Bulls Kapfenberg (17-11) is placed third in the A Bundesliga. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Stegnjaic averaged so far 10.3ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.3apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Croatian and Austrian.

   #4. Marko Jagodic Kuridza (205-PF-87, currently plays in Belgium). Jagodic Kuridza could not help Oostende (22-5) to beat Kangoeroes (15-12). He scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 13 minutes. The league leader Oostende lost 75-79 on the road to the lower-ranked (#4) Kangoeroes. It was Oostende's first loss after ten consecutive victories. This year Jagodic Kuridza's total stats are: 6.3ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.2apg in 26 games. He has both Serbian and Croatian nationalities.

   #5. Mladen Primorac (210-C-90, currently plays in Czech Republic) was not able to help USK Praha in their game against BK Decin (18-14) in the Czech Republic NBL. Primorac was the second best scorer with 9 points. He also added 6 rebounds. But the fourth-placed USK Praha (16-14) was defeated 70-65 at home by the higher-ranked BK Decin (#3) in the Places 1-6 group. Primorac's team will play only one more game in the Second Stage. And now that game is quite important. Primorac's total stats this season are: 8.8ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.6apg.

   #6. Dino Cinac (201-F-88, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to a KFUM Jamtland's victory against the second-ranked Norrkoping Dolphins 78-74 in the Swedish Basketligan on Tuesday night. He scored 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 23 minutes. Cinac has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.8ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.1spg in 25 games.

   #7. Igor Maric (196-F-85, currently plays in Slovakia) helped Prievidza win their game against the closely-ranked Iskra Svit crushing them 90-67 in the Slovakian SBL in Saturday night's game. Maric recorded 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Maric averaged so far 13.5ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.9apg and 1.4spg.

   #8. Jure Gunjina (203-F-92, college: Georgia SW, currently plays in Spain) was the main contributor in Alcazar's victory against the closely-ranked Moron 79-73 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) in Saturday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Gunjina had a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 5 assists in 37 minutes. Gunjina averaged so far 12.2ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.4apg in five games.

   #9. Toni Bizaca (202-F-82, agency: XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Sweden) was not able to secure a victory for Sodertalje Kings (23-9) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his very good performance Sodertalje Kings was edged 82-81 in Jamtland by the lower-ranked KFUM (#6). Bizaca was the top scorer with 17 points. He also added 6 rebounds. This season Bizaca has very high stats. He averages: 17.5ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.6apg.

   #10. Ivan Platenik (201-F-83, college: Alaska-Anch., currently plays in Australia) couldn't help McKinnon Cougars (1-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Platenik's very good performance the ninth-placed McKinnon Cougars were defeated 94-79 by the higher-ranked Casey Cavaliers (#4) in the Big V group. He was the second best scorer with 20 points. Platenik also added 9 rebounds. This season Platenik has very high stats. He averages: 19.7ppg, 9.3rpg, 2.0apg and 1.7spg. Platenik also holds two passports: Croatian and Australian.
