   #1. This week's number one is an experienced international point guard Dontaye Draper (180-84, college: Charleston, currently plays in Euroleague). He was the major contributor in a Real Madrid's victory against the sixth-ranked Anadolu Efes (17-13) 97-80 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Draper scored 16 points in 20 minutes on the court. Real Madrid (23-7) is placed first in the Euroleague. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And that game will be critical. It's Draper's first season with the team. This year he averages: 3.0ppg, 1.2rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 60.9%(14-23), 3FGP: 25.7% and FT: 82.4% in 23 games he played so far. Draper is a naturalized American. He is currently a member of the Croatian senior national team. Draper used to play for Cedevita Zagreb in Croatian league.

   #2. Second place goes to former international forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85, currently plays in Italy). He could not help one of league's weakest teams Umana Venezia (17-9) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Peric's very good performance Umana Venezia was defeated 88-80 on the road by the leading Armani Milano. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Peric also added 5 rebounds. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Peric is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Umana Venezia's roster. He has relatively good stats this season: 11.7ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.6apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 51.3%, 3FGP: 19.6% and FT: 72.9%. Peric played for the Croatian national team in 2015.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U18 international forward Jure Skific (202-88, agency: XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Poland). He led Twarde Pierniki to a 1-point victory over the 13th-ranked Asseco (9-20) 109-108 in the Polish PLK on Saturday night. Skific was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 13 rebounds in 37 minutes. Polski Cukier Torun (19-9) is placed fourth in the PLK. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Skific has relatively solid stats: 10.9ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.5apg, 2FGP: 56.3%(103-183), 3FGP: 32.1% and FT: 79.0% in 28 games. He played for the Croatian U18 national team eleven years ago.

   #4. Power forward Ante Zizic (210-97, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Euroleague) led his Turkish team Darussafaka to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Crvena Zvezda (16-14) 78-62 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Zizic scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul (16-14) is placed eighth in the Euroleague. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. Zizic's overall stats this season are: 8.3ppg and 6.8rpg. He is also Croatian national team player.

Former international center Ante Tomic (217-87, also represented by XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a 3-point FC Barcelona's victory against one of league's weakest teams Zaragoza (8-19) 91-88 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Sunday. Tomic recorded 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in 30 minutes. FC Barcelona Lassa (18-8) is placed fourth in the Liga Endesa. Tomic has been at the team for five years. He has reliable stats this season: 12.6ppg, 7.8rpg and 2.3apg in 26 games. Tomic used to play for the Croatian national team two years ago.

   #6. Center Josip Sobin (203-89, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Poland) led Anwil to a victory over the closely-ranked Stelmet (22-7) 81-68 in the Polish PLK on Wednesday night. He was the best player in that game. Sobin recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Anwil Wloclawek (22-7) is placed first in the PLK. It was his team's 12th consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. Sobin averaged so far 11.3ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.8apg and 1.1spg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

   #7. International power forward Dario Saric (207-94, currently plays in NBA) was not able to help the Philadelphia 76ers (27-54) in their last game. Despite Saric's good performance the Philadelphia 76ers (27-54) lost 82-90 in Milwaukee to the Bucks. He was the second best scorer with 14 points. Saric also added 8 rebounds and 4 assists in 24 minutes. It was 76ers' seventh consecutive loss in a row. His team will play only one more game in the NBA Regular Season. Saric has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 12.8ppg, 6.3rpg and 2.2apg in 81 games. Saric is also Croatian national team player.

   #8. Swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to secure a victory for Armani Milano (8-22) in their game against Unics Kazan (8-22) in the Euroleague. He scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Armani Milano was crushed 91-68 in Kazan by the league outsider Unics (#16). The Regular Season already ended in the Euroleague. Simon averaged so far 11.0ppg, 3.6rpg and 3.9apg. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

International point guard Rok Stipcevic (185-86, another player represented by Alti Sport, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a Banco di Srd's victory against the closely-ranked Dolomiti En. TR (15-11) 66-57 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. Stipcevic scored 11 points in 28 minutes. Banco di Sardegna Sassari (15-11) is placed fourth in the Serie A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Stipcevic's stats this year are: 11.5ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.7apg in 26 games. He is also in the roster of the Croatian national team.

   #10. Forward Kresimir Loncar (209-83, another player represented by Alti Sport, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help s Oliver Baskets (13-7) in their last game. Despite Loncar's very good performance s Oliver Baskets was edged 77-74 in Giessen by the lower-ranked (#8) 46ers. He was the top scorer with 27 points. Loncar also added 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. Loncar averaged so far 10.3ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.5apg in 26 games. He is a former international player as seven years ago he still played for the Croatian senior national team.

   #11. Former U20 international center Jure Lalic (211-86, currently plays in FYR Macedonia) helped MZT Skopje win their game against the sixth-ranked Kumanovo 81-76 in the FYR Macedonian Prva Liga on Wednesday night. Lalic scored 20 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Lalic averaged so far 14.0ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.7apg. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team eleven years ago.

   #12. Former U20 international power forward Ivan Buva (208-91, currently plays in Spain) helped RETAbet BB win their game against the 15th-ranked Sevilla 85-73 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Saturday. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Buva averaged so far 11.5ppg and 5.4rpg. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2011.

   #13. International power forward Leon Radosevic (207-90, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Brose Baskets in their game against Galatasaray in the Euroleague. Radosevic scored 7 points in 22 minutes. His team lost 79-84. This year Radosevic's overall stats are: 6.1ppg and 2.6rpg in 28 games. He is also Croatian national team player.

   #14. Former international power forward Mario Delas (207-90, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Betaland Cdo (14-12) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Delas' good performance Betaland Cdo was badly defeated 75-59 in Pistoia by the lower-ranked The Flexx PT (#8). He was the second best scorer with 11 points. Delas also added 4 rebounds. Delas' total stats this season are: 9.7ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.2apg. He used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2014.

   #15. Former U18 international power forward Stjepan Tesija (206-89, currently plays in Bulgaria) couldn't help Beroe (9-7) in their last game. Despite Tesija's good performance Beroe lost 79-94 in Sofia to the leading Lukoil Academic. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 30 minutes. This year Tesija's total stats are: 9.2ppg and 5.6rpg in 21 games. He used to play for the Croatian U18 national team ten years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Mladen Pavlovic (193-G-89, currently plays in Serbia) was the major contributor in Vrsac's victory against the eighth-ranked Mladost ZE (13-13) 72-65 in the Serbian KLS in Saturday night's game. Pavlovic recorded 14 points. KK Vrsac Swisslion (21-4) is placed first in the KLS. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Pavlovic's overall stats this season are: 8.8ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.3apg and 1.4spg. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Serbian.

   #2. Anthony Drmic (198-G/F-92, college: Boise St., currently plays in Australia) led Noarlunga City Southern Tigers to a victory over the ninth-ranked South Adelaide Panthers (1-1) crushing them 96-76 in the Australian State League (second division) in Saturday night's game. Drmic was the top player that evening. He scored 32 points (!!!) and grabbed 9 rebounds in 36 minutes. It was his first game for Noarlunga City Southern Tigers this season; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Drmic's third season in pro basketball. His team are placed second in Premier League. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Drmic is another player who holds two passports: Croatian and Australian.

   #3. Marko Jagodic Kuridza (205-PF-87, currently plays in Belgium) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (11-17) crushing them 86-56 in the Belgian Euromillions League in Saturday night's game. Jagodic Kuridza scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Telenet BC Oostende (23-5) is placed first in the Euromillions League. Jagodic Kuridza has averaged so far 6.4ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.1apg. He has both Serbian and Croatian nationalities.

   #4. Experienced Toni Bizaca (202-F-82, agency: XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Sweden) was the main contributor in a Sodertalje Kings' victory against the closely-ranked KFUM Jamtland (16-16) 83-74 in the Swedish Basketligan on Tuesday night. Bizaca was the top player that evening. He scored 25 points and grabbed 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Sodertalje Kings (23-9) is placed third in the Basketligan. Bizaca plays fifth season for the team. Bizaca has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.9ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.6apg.

   #5. Igor Maric (196-F-85, currently plays in Slovakia) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Iskra Svit (22-18) crushing them 102-76 in the Slovakian SBL last Saturday. Maric scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. BC Prievidza (28-12) is placed third in the SBL. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Maric averaged so far 13.6ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.9apg and 1.4spg.

   #6. Milan Stegnjaic (204-F/C-81, currently plays in Austria) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Furstenfeld Panthers 86-68 in the Austrian A Bundesliga in Monday night's game. He recorded 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Stegnjaic averaged so far 10.5ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.3apg. He also holds two passports: Croatian and Austrian.

   #7. Ivan Platenik (201-F-83, college: Alaska-Anch., currently plays in Australia) contributed to a McKinnon Cougars' victory against the tenth-ranked Diamond Valley Eagles 80-76 in the Australian State League (second division) on Friday night. Platenik was the top player that evening. He recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 12 rebounds. Platenik also added 3 assists. This season Platenik has very high stats. He averages: 19.8ppg, 9.2rpg, 2.0apg and 1.6spg. Platenik has Croatian and Australian nationalities.

   #8. Dino Cinac (201-F-88, currently plays in Sweden) faced previously mentioned Toni Bizaca in the Swedish Basketligan last game. Cinac could not help KFUM Jamtland (16-16) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his good performance KFUM Jamtland was defeated 83-74 on the road by the higher-ranked Sodertalje Kings (#3). Cinac scored 13 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists. This season Cinac has very high stats. He averages: 16.0ppg and 6.0rpg.

   #9. Aleksandar Marcius (208-C-90, college: De Paul, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Caceres Basket in their game against Ourense in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Despite his very good performance last Friday Marcius was the second best scorer with 15 points. He also added 8 rebounds. Marcius averaged so far 13.8ppg, 7.8rpg and 1.1spg.

   #10. Goran Veg (205-C/F, currently plays in Australia) helped Hills Hornets win their game against the tenth-ranked Crusaders crushing them 96-75 in the Australian State League (second division) in Sunday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Veg scored 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Veg averaged so far 14.7ppg, 8.3rpg, 2.6apg, 2.1bpg and 1.1spg. He has dual citizenship: Croatian and Australian.   



Ribola Kastela will not extend contract of coach Ivica Celan - 1 day ago
Newly promoted Ribola Kastela has mutually agreed not to activate the extension clause in contract of head coach Ivica Celan, citing personal reasons. Celan took over Ribola Kastela in January 2016 and failed to avoid relegation from the A1 League. In the following season, Celan led the team to the second place in A2 League South Division with a 17-1 record and then to the second place in A2 League Championship Stage with a 15-1 record, 32-2 season overall. Tecnyconta Zaragoza (Liga Endesa) inked 20-year old Croatian small forward Lovro Mazalin (204-97). He played most recently at KK Zadar in Croatian A1 league. In 24 games he averaged 9.3ppg, 5.5rpg, 2.3apg and 1.5spg last season. Mazalin helped them to make it to the semifinals. He also played 23 games in ABA League where he had 9.8ppg, 4.4rpg, 2.6apg and 1.2spg. The previous (15-16) season Mazalin played at Cedevita (also in A1). Defending champion U-Banca Transilvania Cluj Napoca (Liga Nationala) landed 29-year old Croatian international forward Zeljko Sakic (204-98kg-88, agency: BeoBasket). He played most recently at Cibona in Croatian A1 league. Sakic managed to play in four leagues last year (!!!). In 32 A1 games he averaged impressive 15.4ppg, 6.8rpg (#5 in the league), 2.6apg and 1.0spg. Sakic helped them to make it to the final.
