Here is the weekly review of the top performing Croatian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international forward Kresimir Loncar (209-83, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Germany). He was the major contributor in a 3-point s Oliver Baskets' victory against the 12th-ranked Brose Baskets (0-1) 76-73 in the German BBL in Friday night's game. Loncar recorded 20 points in 28 minutes on the court. It was his first game for s Oliver Baskets this season. His team is placed fifth in the BBL. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Loncar has a dual citizenship: Croatian and German. He played for the Croatian senior national team seven years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Rok Stipcevic (185-86, also represented by Alti Sport, currently plays in Italy). Stipcevic led Banco di Srd to a victory against the 11th-ranked MIA-RO Cantu (0-1) 94-80 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday. He recorded 11 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. It was his first game for Banco di Srd this season. His team is placed first in the Serie A. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Stipcevic played for the Croatian national team in 2016.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U18 international center Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU, currently plays in Argentina). He led Estudiantes Concordia to a victory over the third-ranked Comunicaciones (1-2) crushing them 97-75 in the Argentinian LigaA on Wednesday night. Buljan was MVP of the game. He scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 31 minutes. Estudiantes Concordia (1-3) is placed fifth in Group A. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Buljan has relatively good stats this year: 11.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.5apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 55.6%(15-27), 3FGP: 30.8% and FT: 44.4% in four games he played so far. He played for the Croatian U18 national team twelve years ago.

   #4. Guard Ante Delas (200-88, currently plays in Poland) contributed to Anwil's victory against the 12th-ranked AZS Koszalin (0-1) 93-85 in the Polish PLK in Sunday night's game. Delas recorded 18 points. It was his first game for Anwil this season. His team is placed first in the PLK. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Delas used to play for the Croatian national team last year.

He recorded 11 points and added 5 assists in 22 minutes. It was his first game for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada this season. His team is placed second in the Liga Endesa. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Popovic plays currently for the Croatian national team.

Sobin is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

Mustapic used to play for the Croatian U20 national team three years ago.

Planinic helped Banco di Srd win their game against the 11th-ranked MIA-RO Cantu (0-1) 94-80. He recorded 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It was his first game for Banco di Srd this season. Planinic plays currently for the Croatian national team.

He is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

   #11. Former international guard Petar Babic (190-85, currently plays in Switzerland) helped Starwings win their game against the fifth-ranked Lugano Tigers 81-76 in the Swiss SBL in Saturday night's game. Babic recorded 14 points and added 7 assists in 35 minutes. It was his first game for Starwings this season. He used to play for the Croatian national team ten years ago.

   #12. Former U20 international guard Teo Petani (190-88, currently plays in Alpe-Adria-Cup) helped his Slovakian team Levice win their game against one of league's weakest teams Helios 81-74 in the Alpe Adria Cup last Tuesday. Petani recorded 10 points and added 8 assists. It was his first game for Levice this season. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2008.

   #13. International guard Dominik Mavra (195-94, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) was not able to help Joventut in their game against Joensuun Kataja in the Basketball Champions League. Mavra recorded 6 points. His team was edged 71-71. This season he averages: 4.3ppg and 2.0rpg. Mavra is also Croatian national team player.

   #14. Former international center Luksa Andric (208-85, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Hungary) helped Szolnok win their game against the 12th-ranked PVSK-Veolia 91-72 in the Hungarian A Division last Saturday. He recorded 7 points in 17 minutes. It was his first game for Szolnok this season. Andric used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2014.

   #15. International point guard Oliver Lafayette (188-84, another player represented by BeoBasket, college: Houston, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Virtus Bologna (0-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Virtus Bologna was defeated 78-74 on the road by the second-ranked Dolomiti En. TR. Lafayette recorded 12 points. It was his first game for Virtus Bologna this season. He is a naturalized American. Lafayette used to play for the Croatian national team last year. Strangely he has never played in Croatia.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Jure Gunjina (203-F-92, college: Georgia SW, currently plays in United Kingdom) led Newcastle Eagles to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Leeds Force (0-1) crushing them 148-60 in the British BBL on Friday night. He recorded 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 21 minutes. It was his first game for Newcastle Eagles this season; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Gunjina's second season in pro basketball. His team is placed fourth in the BBL.

   #2. Igor Maric (196-F-85, currently plays in Slovakia) was the major contributor in Kosice's victory against the closely-ranked Handlova (0-1) crushing them 100-72 in the Slovakian SBL in Saturday night's game. Maric recorded 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. It was his first game for Kosice this season. His team is placed third in the SBL.

   #3. Mauro Veljacic (183-PG-93, agency: XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Lithuania) could not help Nevezis (0-2) in their last game. Despite Veljacic's very good performance Nevezis lost 66-77 at home to the higher-ranked (#4) Zalgiris. He was the top scorer with 15 points. Veljacic also added 3 steals in only a mere 14 minutes. It's Veljacic's first season with the team. He has reliable stats this year: 11.0ppg and 1.5spg in two games he played so far.

   #4. Mladen Primorac (210-C-90, agency: PEPI SPORT, currently plays in Alpe-Adria-Cup) was not able to help MMCITE Brno (0-1) in their last game on Monday. Despite Primorac's very good performance MMCITE Brno was defeated 90-84 on their home court in Brno by the higher-ranked KK Vrijednosnice Osijek (#9). He recorded 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. It was his first game for MMCITE Brno this season.

   #5. Mateo Seric (205-PF-99, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) managed to help MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg in a victory against Basic-Fit Brussels crushing them 75-50 in the Basketball Champions League on Monday night. Seric scored only 2 points in 12 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburgis placed in the Basketball Champions League. This year Seric's overall stats are: 4.0ppg and 2.5rpg in two games. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and German.

   #6. Marijan Cakarun (204-C-90, also represented by PEPI SPORT, currently plays in ABA League) led his Slovenian team KK Primorska to a victory against Siroki Primorka 81-69 in the ABA League on Thursday night. Cakarun scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Cakarun has reliable stats this season: 10.3ppg and 4.0rpg.

   #7. Mise Diminic (208-C/F-89, another player represented by XL Basketball Agency, currently plays in Slovakia) was not able to secure a victory for Rieker KN in their game against Nova Ves in the Slovakian SBL. He recorded 6 points in only 9 minutes. It was his first game for Rieker KN this season. His team lost 78-91.

   #8. Experienced Sasa Jankovic (204-F-84, currently plays in Slovakia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Mise Diminic and both played together in the last Slovakian SBL game. Jankovic couldn't help Rieker KN in their game against Nova Ves. He recorded 5 points. It was his first game for Rieker KN this season. His team was defeated 91-78.

   #9. Veljko Budimir (199-F-85, currently plays in Hungary) couldn't help PVSK-Veolia (0-1) in their last game. Despite Budimir's good performance PVSK-Veolia was badly defeated 91-72 on their home court in Pecs by the higher-ranked (#6) Szolnok. He recorded 10 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 33 minutes. It was his first game for PVSK-Veolia this season.

   #10. Marin Mornar (205-F-93, college: Loyola Mary, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) couldn't help Boras Basket in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Mornar's good performance his team was defeated 85-72 on the road by the lower-ranked Kormend. He scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Mornar's overall stats this season are: 7.5ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.5bpg.

Mahram Tehran (Superleague) signed 33-year old Croatian power forward Filip Toncinic (212-84, college: Texas A&M-CC). He already started the season at Cedevita in Croatian Premijer Liga. But in only one game he did not score anything and had only 1 rebound. Toncinic played 2 games in ABA League where he recorded just 2.5ppg this season.
