Decides to finish his career in Enad! - Jun 25, 2012

Giorgos
Anastasiadis
Among the best Cypriot players ever played the game and one of Cyprus most charismatic players, in the twilight of a brilliant career, Giorgos Anastasiadis (194-SF-77) has decided to finish where he started!

These last few weeks George was approached by Apoel and he was offered a one year contract from Etha. After serious thinking and after been offered a 2- year contract he has decided to move to his old dens, and help Enad for the last two years of his career.

"I think I have nothing else to prove. I have been playing since I was 16 years old and I have played for many teams. It is time for me to go back where I started and help the younger guys in any way I can. Enad has always been a taught team and this is what we are planning to do next year", George has stated to us.

Where he started

George has started his career in Agios Dometions and in Enad when he first joined the men's team in the age of 16. In his early stages he was distinguished for his great ability to score, especially from the perimeter, something that has kept until today. George is also known for his great defensive skills. In the years to follow many of his coaches, like Memos Ioannou, have trusted him with many defensive missions which he executed successfully.

The last few years and due to his experience George has become more matured and has developed great leadership qualities with which has injected his last team, Etha. With Etha George has won two championships, a cup and a super-cup. In the year 2010-2011 he was also awarded as the "Domestic Player" of the year.

"this guy is amazing" Masamba stated about George just after last year's final against Keravnos, probably meaning that indeed George has pushed the team with his experience.

History

A lot was written and said as to whether titles follow him around. Truth be told - none of it is coincidental. So far he has won 5 cups, 7 championships and 3 super-cups. History will remember that George has won 5 championships in a row, with 3 different teams.

Other news
In another new, Enad has also signed Tolis Kaskiris for the next 2 years.

Jaxen's 35-point game gives him Player of the Week award - 2 days ago
26-year old guard Baden Jaxen (190-G-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for Etha and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17. He had the game-high 35 points adding seven rebounds and five assists for Etha as his team lost the game against AEK (#2, 13-4) 75-89. Etha maintains the 6th position in Cypriot league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lost 14 games and recorded just three victories. In the te...   [read more]

Division A Round 17: Keravnos defeat Apoel in the game between Top 4 teams - 3 days ago
The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. An interesting game for Keravnos (15-2) which hosted in Strovolos 3rd placed Apoel (9-8). First ranked Keravnos managed to get a 9-point victory 78-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Apoel. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, b...   [read more]
