Diego
Kapelan

An interesting interview we had from the Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.) newcomer in Cyprus league this year. Diego will play for Pizza Express Apollon Limassol this year.

Eur: New season in Cyprus and Pizza Express Apollon Limassol, how does feel?
Kap: It feels great to be a part of this team. I'm excited and ready for a big season for us.

Eur: Do you know anyone from yout new teammates?
Kap: I have known Kai Williams for a couple of years now. I also have been in touch with Majic Dorsey and Brandon Brown. We are trying to make a good atmosphere early so we can be ready to play with each other right away, especially because we only have a few weeks before we play Eurochallenge qualifiers. We are all ready and excited to play.

Eur: From where did you take information about the team?
Kap: I took some information from friends, manager, and the internet. I have heard very good things about Apollon.

Eur: Do you have any opinion about the level in Cyprus?
Kap: I know it is a very high level. They play very strong style of basketball. Last year Darryl Watkins was signed to NBA team after the season. Also i know many high level leagues follow Cyprus league.

Eur: Describe us your profile as a player
Kap: I am a winner. We won Southland Conference championship with McNeese State University. I have experience with Bosnia and Herzegovinia national team. I am a combo guard, i can score many different ways but i also love to pass the ball when a teammate is in good rhythm. I can play the 1 and 2 positions very well and am strong enough to guard 3 positions.

Eur: The team will fight for the championship, are you ready to face the challenge?
Kap: Yes I am very prepared for this. I train very hard in the summers in hopes of being a champion in the season.

Eur: You have some titles before, here in Cyprus things are tough and competitive what your opinion is?
Kap: Won lower mainland championship in high school, at McNeese State University won the Southland Conference Championship, also played in the NIT post season tournament. I know that the Cyprus league is a very strong style of play. I'm a strong player so this is something that does not bother me and i actually like to play this style.

Eur: Apollon has supporting fans and demanding also, are aware of that?
Kap: Yes i am very aware of this. I have seen some videos on youtube and i am ready to make the fans cheer even louder this season.

Eur: Do you perform better in a full capacity ground?
Kap: I love to play in full capacity. These are my favorite games and moments i remember for lifetime. I prepare all summer for this so i am ready and there is no pressure on me.

Eur: Say something for the fans
Kap: To all the fans: management has brought very good group of players and all the fans should be very excited. We all have very high expectations this season for Apollon. We need all supporters of Apollon to come together for all games and make it tough for all teams to pay in our arena. We must protect our house!!!

Wee 6: Keravnos was the boss and dominated in Paralimni!! - 5 days ago

During the 6th week Keravnos Strovolou (who's currently in the first position of the league after six games with a 5-1 record) dominated at all edges and got a small revenge from Paralimni is the team of Coach Papadopoulos was the one and only to force the Strovolos team (during the first round) to suffer their only (until now) defeat in the competition. The final score 43-75 says it all!! Coach Livadiotis troops remembered very well what has happened in their home court a month ago and w...   [read more]
