Limassol, CY. Pizza Express Apollon Limassol and Austrian side Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg faced off in the second leg of the EuroChallenge Qualifiers for a spot in the competition's group stages. Apollon went into the game not only with home court advantage but and eight point aggregate point lead. Apollon was looking to secure its first European birth since the 2006-07 season while Xion Dukes had not played a European tournament since a Korac Cup appearance in the 2000-01 season.
The game started with Xion Dukes catching the home team off guard as they jumped to an early 9-2 lead. Led by a couple fast breaks from Majic Dorsey (24pts, 10/21 FG, 6 ast) Apollon went on a 10-0 run and maintained control for most the game. In the first half the visiting team did make the game close after a 3 from Christoph Nagler (17 pts, 6 ast) which pulled Xion within three points 41-38.

To start the second half Apollon seemed a little sluggish which allowed the visitors to get back in the game and lead by as much as five points but this surge was short lived and the home team never looked back led by strong play from Brandon Brown (23 pts, 54% fg, 10 reb, 2 stl) and Marvin Jefferson (19 pts, 13 reb, 2 blk) helping the team to a 96-90 win and berth in the 2012-13 EuroChallenge Tournament. Apollon will have its work cut out as they will have to face French sides BCM Gravelines, Sluc Nancy Basket Pro and Belarussian powerhouse Tsmoki-Minsk.

The lack of a legitimate big man for both teams led to a very fast paced game and primarily 1 shot possessions. Although Apollon seemed to have control for most the game, there was 15 lead changes and both teams had double digit scoring runs early in the game. Apollon's 44-32 points in the paint advantage turned out to be the difference.

Game Stats:
Pizza Express Apollon Limassol:
53% FG, 26% 3pt, 57% FT, 11 ast

Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg:
45% FG, 85% FT, 21 ast
