Coach Panagiotis Yiannaras , Keravnos Strovolou succeeded a great road win as in a game which ended earlier this afternoon, in Kition Court of Larnaka, beat the team of Coach Papadopoulos with 55-59 and started the season very strongly and against all odds since this season the team of Strovolos is consider being much weaker than previous seasons while on the other site the team of Petrolina AEK Larnaka is consider being one of the strongest teams in the league.

The first period of the game was in total balance as the two teams ended the game with a 20-20 even though the home team started tougher and more focused as it took a couple of times some fragile leads of 5-7 points but Bobby Maze (191-PG-86, college: Tennessee) the American player of Keravnos was not giving up and with 9 personal points gave a short and fast lead of 3 some seconds before the end of the period before a three pointer by Vujadin Subotic (198-G-81) (7 points) balance the game to the draw of 20-20

The second period was much worst for the two teams as they couldn't score at all, not due to the tough defenses but due to their inability to do so. For more than seven minutes (nearly 8 minutes) in the second period the two teams were able to score 8 and 7 points respectively and the score to become 28-27, 2.23' before the end of eh half time, Kinnard score a three pointer followed by Fisher's two and the first half ended with the childish 30-31 for Keravnos

The third period was more or less like the second period as the baskets were so small for the 10 players in the court who were able to score simply 6 and 5 points in the first six minutes of this period. The score was 36-36, 2 minutes before the end of the third period but at that particular minute, Giorgos Georgios Diamantopoulos (196-F/G-80, agency: Interperformances) took his team hand to hand and with 6 personal points gave an end to the total draw with the third period ending with 40-44 for Keravnos

The fourth period of this really awful game, with no quality and very low basketball, started with Georgios Diamantopoulos scoring another three pointer to take the lead to +7 for the visitors in the only three points scored in the first seven minutes of the game!!!! AEK couldn't score at all, many false balls, missing shots, personal fouls and that's about it. Keravnos took an nine points lead with Bobby Maze's 13th point, 3.05' before the end of the game and the psychology was totally for the Strovolos team as between two bad teams the one with the less mistakes wins at the end and that was teh story tonight. Keravnos won the game since AEK was in another planet.

Top scorers:

AEK: Vujadin Subotic 19 and Dion Dixon (190-G-89, college: Cincinnati) 17
Keravnos: Bobby Maze 16, Georgios Diamantopoulos 11, Julian Vaughn (205-C/F-88, college: Georgetown) 9 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 block shots.

Wee 6: Keravnos was the boss and dominated in Paralimni!! - 4 days ago

During the 6th week Keravnos Strovolou (who's currently in the first position of the league after six games with a 5-1 record) dominated at all edges and got a small revenge from Paralimni is the team of Coach Papadopoulos was the one and only to force the Strovolos team (during the first round) to suffer their only (until now) defeat in the competition. The final score 43-75 says it all!! Coach Livadiotis troops remembered very well what has happened in their home court a month ago and w...   [read more]
