Reimo Tamm
American Mike Morrison (205-F-89, agency: Interperformances) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Apoel and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 23-year old forward had the game-high 28 points adding eight rebounds and two assists for Apoel in his team's victory, helping them to crush, the league's bottom-ranked team ENAD (#8, 0-4) with 21-point margin 80-59. Apoel is placed at 4th position in Cypriot Division A. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Apoel will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. Morrison turned to be Apoel's top player in his first season with the team. George Mason University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Morrison is in league's top in points (6th best: 16.3ppg) and averages solid 2.7bpg and 62.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 30-year old Serbian forward Milutin Aleksic (203-F-82) of AEL. Aleksic impressed basketball fans with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as AEL lost that game 78-84 to AEK (2-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Aleksic is a newcomer at AEL and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.7ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 6.3rpg and 4.7apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Lawrence Kinnard (202-F-86) of top-ranked Keravnos. Kinnard scored 25 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Keravnos, leading his team to a 91-88overtime win against Apollon (#7, 0-3). Keravnos started extremely well this year. They recorded 3 victories without losing a single game. Kinnard turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Kinnard has a great season in Cyprus. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.0rpg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Jamar Diggs (187-G-88) of Omonia - 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
5. C.J. Williams (195-G) of Etha - 26 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Iakovos Panteli (187-G-85) of AEK - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Tony Crocker (201-G/F-87) of Keravnos - 23 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Anthony Lee-Ingram (195-F-88) of Omonia - 15 points and 7 rebounds
9. Julian Vaughn (205-C/F-88) of Keravnos - 16 points and 12 rebounds
10. Georgios Palalas (185-PG-81) of AEL - 19 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

AEK Larnakas beat Keravnos Strovolou on the opening day - 1 day ago
The first derby of the season went to AEK Larnakas who showed (after the super cup triumph) who's going to be the boss this season in the Cyprus league. The final score 84-75 is totally fair as AEK Larnakas had a much better rotation that their opponents, since Coach Leivadiotis for another game this season preferred to go on a very short rotation with just seven players (Anthony King was absent) while the Cyprus Coach used Barker for 38!! Minutes, Parks for 32 and from then and on Abukar...   [read more]
