American forward Brandon Brown (201-F-85) had a very impressive game in the last round for Apollon, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds, while his team Apollon moved-up to the 7th position in the Cypriot Division A. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 4 games and recorded just one victory. In the team's last game Brown had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. He turned to be Apollon's top player in his first season with the team. Former Cal State - San Bernardino star has very solid stats this year. Brown is in league's top in points (8th best: 16.2ppg), rebounds (4th best: 7.8rpg) and averages impressive 1.2bpg,2.4spg and 51.0% FGP. Worth to mention Brown played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old American Julian Vaughn (205-C/F-88) of league's leader Keravnos. Vaughn had a very good evening with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. It was enough for Keravnos to edge the lower-ranked AEL (#6, 1-4) 66-62. Of course Keravnos still keep the league's top spot. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 5 games without any defeat. Vaughn is a newcomer at Keravnos, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Serbian forward Milutin Aleksic (203-F-82) of AEL (#6). Aleksic scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Despite Aleksic's great performance AEL lost 62-66 to the league's current leader Keravnos (#1, 5-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. AEL can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Aleksic he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Aleksic has individually a great season in Cyprus. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.3ppg (4th best) and assists with 4.8apg (4th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Lewis Sims (203-F/C-73) of ENAD - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
5. JoJo Garcia (206-C-75) of AEK - 18 points and 7 rebounds
6. Melvin Baker (200-F-89) of Omonia - 17 points and 8 rebounds
7. Anthony Lee-Ingram (195-F-88) of Omonia - 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Vassilis Kounas (194-G-84) of ENAD - 14 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Taron Downey (186-G-82) of Etha - 13 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Mihajlo Pesic (206-F/C-81) of AEL - 11 points and 8 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
