The supposed to be derby between the team of Coach Yiannaras, Keravnos Strovolou against Coach Chris Chougaz, Pizza Express Apollon Limassol never took place as in the game which ended some hours ago, the home team thrashed the visitors with 94-78 in the top performing game of the American Bobby Maze (191-PG-86, college: Tennessee) who was simply excellent in all edges of the court ending the game with 28 points, 12 assists, 2 steals and 4 rebounds in all 40 minutes he was in the court with amazing stats! The game in regards to defenses was not the best feasible one and the home team took an early lead of +5 in the first period with Bobby Maze already scoring 10 points and showing his moods from the early stages of the game. On the other hand, the to scorer of the league and among the top scorers in the Eurochallenge too, Brandon is having a "break" from his top tier games since for a second consecutive game is remaining in shallow waters his 5 points in the first period was not bad in compare with his total 8 at the end. The newcomer Andrew Warren (195-G-87, college: Bradley) though was the leading figure for the Limassol team.
The second period found the home team to lead with as many as +9 at the beginning of the period with the veteran Aleksandar Damjanovic (206-C/F-73) adding his 4th point for the 27-18, while Tony Crocker (201-G/F-87, college: Oklahoma) 5 minutes after that gave a double digit to the Strovolos team +12 and 38-26. Bobby Maze's first basket in the second period simply added another two points difference to close the gap and the first half with 48-41 showing everybody that a derby is arising...
The Strovolos fans were terrified as they though that their team would have had the same syndrome as the previous 4 games to collapse in the second half but they were counting without Bobby Maze, the American guard was simply excellent, together with Tony Crocker gave once more a double digit difference to their team +10 (57-47), 5.25' before the end of the period and 1 and a half minutes later a +15 was a fact by Tony Crocker's 12th point. APOEL balanced it's record with AEK but bypassed the Larnaka team since the +12 deficit it's giving to APOEL at this stage the second spot. Both teams have a 4-2 record.
On the third and final game of the sixth week, the history recorded the easy win of ETHA Engomis over the weird team of Apollon Limassol with 86-61 (Maxie Esho's another great performance with 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists, followed by Walket's same performance with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists) were the night's major factors, while from Apollon only Raines tried who ended with another double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds, followed by Jermaine Marshall who ended the game with 15 points, were not enough to help their team to succeed something better than another easy loss with 25 points deficit...
