A Cyprus star in the Nike International Junior Tournament in Rome - Dec 28, 2012

The Nike International Junior Tournament (NIJT), Citta di Roma which is taking place in Rome every December, this year has a special interest for the Cyprus Basketball since the main member of the team of Mantoulidis is actually coming from Aphrodite's island.

The Greek team which is very well known for its academies and the many players playing in the A1 and the A2 leagues, has this year two Cyprus members, Rafael Eleftheriou (200-G-94) and Antreas Christodoulou (197-SF-95), with Rafael being one year older (1994) and has no right to participate in the specific tournament, the small country of Cyprus will represent the young Cyprus star, Antreas Christodoulou, who is the stand out of the Greek team of Mantoulidis in the tournament and even though the Greek team suffered two loses in the first two games of this international Junior Tournament, Christodoulou was the man of the match in both the games for his team.

In both the games of the Greek team the top performer and top scorer was Christodoulou who scored against the junior team of Malaga 14 points (out of the 37 of his team) while in the second game the young Cyprus International player scored 25 points against the home team of Stella Azure Roma (out of the 61 points that Mantoulidis scored)

Both the players (Rafael and Andreas) consider being (together with Viktoras Ieronymidis (200-G/F-95) who's currently in the Sates) the top tier players of the country and among (probably) the top players of the island the last couple of decades. With the necessary work-out and the necessary help from their families they will take the island to another Basketball level if they decide to proceed in a Basketball career as proffesional players.

APOEL agreed financial terms with Head Coach Konstantinides - 1 day ago
APOEL and Greek Head Coach Tzimis Koustenis split ways and the new Head Coach is officially the ex Coach of the Greek A1 A.G.O Rethymno Aegean, Antonis Konstantinides . Coach Konstnatinidies was the Head Coach of APOEL for two season three years ago with quite impressive results. APOEL during the days of the Cyprus Head Coach in the post had awesome results and is not a coincidence that since then the Nicosia team was not able to repeat any of these triumphs. The Cyprus Head consider to...   [read more]

Apoel lands Tonis Konstantinides - 3 days ago
Apoel has agreed terms with Antonis Konstantinides to take over the team for the rest of the season plus for next year. Tonis, as we call him, is taking over Apoel in a difficult point as the team battles against Aek next Friday for the playoffs. The 38 year-old coach reached the pinnacle of his career in June 2012 when he was appointed as the Men's Basketball National Team head coach. Tonis is distinguished for his hard work, very good pre-season preparation and discipline. Between t...   [read more]

AEK Larnaca lift Cup trophy - 4 days ago
AEK Larnaca overcame Keravnos 62:58 in the Final of the Cyprus Cup to lift up the trophy. AEK needed the final push at the end of the game to seal the victory. They opened the game with a 20-10 lead, but the opponents replied with a massive 22-9 surge in the second frame. AEK reduced the gap with a 15-13 rally in the third quarter and won the game due to 18-13 run in the last stanza. Primoz Brezec (216-F/C-79) stepped up with 19 points to pace all the winners. Vladimir Dasic (207-PF-88)...   [read more]
