The team of Coach Konstantinidis had no problem over the team of Coach Chougaz which is entirely new team without its top scorer Brandon Brown who is currently in the Italian league, and with the newcomer Ken Horton (199-F-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) not being able to cover the scoring of his compatriot even though from his first game showed that is a team-player and is no coinsidence at all his double - double figures in his first game with the blue jersey of Apollon. The home team of Apoel showed from the early begging its mood since with good defence and solid basketball having as a leading figure first Isaac Isaac Wells (203-F-85, college: Arkansas St.) and then Mike Morrison (205-F-89, agency: Interperformances, college: George Mason) dominated in both edges of the court and by the end of the first half the score was allready double figures for the Nicosia team (26-13) The second period was more defensive for the two teams with Jefferson trying to cut the deficit but with Apoel finding some crucial assistance from Troupe and Stiggers with the four Americans creating a solid quartet for Apoel. The first half found the home team leading the game with 43-28 and already giving an early end to the game. The third and fourth period was more or less like the second period since the two teams were stepping basket to basket with the only difference being that Apoel build up a solid difference of 18-20 points mainly due to the first very strong period. The final 85-69 shaped up with a three pointer by Ken Horton.
In the premier of the ex captain of the Greek NT, Michalis Mihalis Kakiouzis (206-F-76) with AEK Larnakas's jersey the home team thrashed the visting site of Ydra Asfalistiki ENAD with 28 points difference in a game which needs no further analysis since ENAD played the game without its top scorer Sims who left the team and with just one American in the roster as the rest of the non Cypriots allready went back home or transfered to other teams. The periods were: 18-13 41-22, 58-34 and the final 73-45 Michalis Mihalis Kakiouzis in the 23 minutes in the court scored 10 points and dashed down 6 rebounds.
