Division A Round 12: APOP Paphou defeats APOEL in the closest game of the week - Feb 8, 2016

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Division A.

The most exciting game of round 12 in the Division A took place in Nicosia. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked APOEL (3-7) to fourth ranked APOP Paphou (6-5) 63-60 in the game for the fourth place. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 18-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. APOP Paphou maintains fourth position with 6-5 record. APOEL lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with seven games lost. APOP Paphou are looking forward to face league's leader Keravnos in Nicosia in the next round and it may be the game of the week. APOEL will play on the road against AEK (#6) in Larnaca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Nicosia supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked AEL Limassol (8-2) played at the court of 7th ranked ENAD (1-10). AEL Limassol smashed ENAD 94-20. AEL Limassol have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Keravnos. ENAD lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. AEL Limassol's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Limassol Apollon.

In the last game of round 12 AEK was destroyed by Apollon on the opponent's court 75-55.

APOEL - APOP Paphou 60-63

The most exciting game of round 12 in the Division A took place in Nicosia. Apollon - AEK 75-55

Rather expected game in Limassol where 6th ranked AEK (1-9) was crushed by third ranked Apollon (7-3) 75-55. The game was mostly controlled by Apollon. AEK was better in second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Apollon maintains third position with 7-3 record having just three points less than leader Keravnos. AEK at the other side keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Apollon's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Limassol to the arena AEL Limassol.

ENAD - AEL Limassol 20-94

The game in Nicosia supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked AEL Limassol (8-2) played at the court of 7th ranked ENAD (1-10). AEL Limassol smashed ENAD 94-20. The game without a history. AEL Limassol led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ENAD to just 2 points in second quarter and to 6 points in first half. AEL Limassol have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Keravnos. ENAD lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. AEL Limassol's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Limassol Apollon.

GS Kronos Agiou Dimitriou (A2) signed experienced 34-year old Cypriot guard Eleana Pantazi (177-83). It is actually her comeback to Kronos as she has played here before. Pantazi will still stay in Greece where she played last season at PAOK Thessalonikis in the A1. In 21 games she had 4.3ppg and 1.1rpg. Keravnos Strovolou (Division A) landed 31-year old Greek international guard Niki Avery (168-86, college: E.Kentucky, agency: Interperformances). She has a double citizenship as she also holds American passport. Avery played most recently at Panathinaikos in Greek A1 league.
