Division A Round 5: Undefeated Keravnos lose their first game against AEL Limassol - Nov 27, 2016

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Keravnos (4-1) in Nicosia on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by AEL Limassol (5-0) 65-47. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Keravnos. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by AEL Limassol. Keravnos managed to win fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Keravnos to just 7 points in third quarter. Undefeated AEL Limassol have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 5-0 record. Keravnos at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. AEL Limassol are looking forward to face bottom-ranked AEK (#6) in Larnaca in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Keravnos' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nicosia APOEL.

AEK lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. ENAD's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nicosia to the arena APOEL.

GS Kronos Agiou Dimitriou (A2) signed experienced 34-year old Cypriot guard Eleana Pantazi (177-83). It is actually her comeback to Kronos as she has played here before. Pantazi will still stay in Greece where she played last season at PAOK Thessalonikis in the A1. In 21 games she had 4.3ppg and 1.1rpg. Keravnos Strovolou (Division A) landed 31-year old Greek international guard Niki Avery (168-86, college: E.Kentucky, agency: Interperformances). She has a double citizenship as she also holds American passport. Avery played most recently at Panathinaikos in Greek A1 league.
