Division A Round 6: ENAD beats Apollon by one after a very close game - Dec 4, 2016

The most exciting game of round 6 in the Division A took place in Limassol. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Apollon (3-3) to fourth ranked ENAD (3-3) 68-67 in the game for the third place. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 24-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. ENAD have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Apollon. ENAD's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nicosia Keravnos.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Nicosia: Keravnos (#2) and APOEL (#5). APOEL was smashed at home by 68 points 33-101 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Keravnos maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader AEL Limassol. APOEL lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with five games lost. Keravnos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nicosia to the arena ENAD.
Division A top team - AEL Limassol (6-0) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat sixth ranked AEK (0-6) 62-50. Undefeated AEL Limassol have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 6-0 record. AEK at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. AEL Limassol will meet APOEL (#5) in the next round. AEK will play against Apollon and hopes to get finally their first victory.

APOEL - Keravnos 33-101

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Nicosia: Keravnos (#2) and APOEL (#5). GS Kronos Agiou Dimitriou (A2) signed experienced 34-year old Cypriot guard Eleana Pantazi (177-83). It is actually her comeback to Kronos as she has played here before. Pantazi will still stay in Greece where she played last season at PAOK Thessalonikis in the A1. In 21 games she had 4.3ppg and 1.1rpg. Keravnos Strovolou (Division A) landed 31-year old Greek international guard Niki Avery (168-86, college: E.Kentucky, agency: Interperformances). She has a double citizenship as she also holds American passport. Avery played most recently at Panathinaikos in Greek A1 league.
