Fifth-ranked Apollon (2-7) gave a tough game to first ranked Keravnos (8-1) in Strovolos on Wednesday. Keravnos managed to secure only three-point victory 73-70. However their fans expected much easier game. Keravnos looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Ronald Ross (188-83, college: Texas Tech) stepped up and scored 14 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners and American-Somalian forward Mohamed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) chipped in 18 points. The best for the losing side was American guard Jermaine Marshall (193-90, college: Arizona St.) with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Keravnos have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Apollon at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Etha. Keravnos are looking forward to face league's second-placed AEK in Larnaca in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Apollon will play at home against Enosis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Swingman Akeem Wright (200-84, college: Kansas St.) came up with 22 points and 8 rebounds for Apoel in the defeat. Enosis moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Apoel. Apoel lost their third game in a row. Enosis will play against Apollon (#5) in Limassol in the next round. Apoel will play at home against Etha and hopes to get back on the winning track.

AEK Larnaca overcame Keravnos 62:58 in the Final of the Cyprus Cup to lift up the trophy. AEK needed the final push at the end of the game to seal the victory. They opened the game with a 20-10 lead, but the opponents replied with a massive 22-9 surge in the second frame. Aek beats Keravnos and wins the Cup - 2 days ago
Aek succeeds a great win over Keravnos and wins the Cup Final with 62-58. In a close game in which both teams were bad behind the 3-point line (Aek had 7 in 24 and Keravnos 4 in 20) Primoz Brezec(216-F/C-79) finished the game with 19 and Dasic with 11 pts. In the loosing squad Ross had 16 and Abukar 13 pts.
