Division A Round 10: AEL Limassol lose to ENAD - Jan 15, 2017

Round 10 most important game was a defeat of league's leader AEL Limassol (8-2). They were defeated by fourth ranked ENAD (6-4) 62-49 on Sunday night. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 62-49. ENAD dominated on the defensive end, holding AEL Limassol to just 6 points in second quarter. ENAD have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Defending champion AEL Limassol dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Keravnos.
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Keravnos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Keravnos defeated 3rd ranked Apollon in Nicosia 71-60. Keravnos (9-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Apollon at the other side dropped to the fourth place with five games lost.
A very close game took place in Nicosia between APOEL and AEK. Fifth ranked APOEL (2-8) got a very close home victory over bottom-ranked AEK (0-10). APOEL managed to escape with a 1-point win 50-49 in the game for the fifth place. APOEL maintains fifth position with 2-8 record. Loser AEK still closes the standings with ten games lost.

APOEL - AEK 50-49

A very close game took place in Nicosia between APOEL and AEK. Fifth ranked APOEL (2-8) got a very close home victory over bottom-ranked AEK (0-10). APOEL managed to escape with a 1-point win 50-49 in the game for the fifth place. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. APOEL dominated on the defensive end, holding AEK to just 7 points in third quarter. APOEL maintains fifth position with 2-8 record. Loser AEK still closes the standings with ten games lost.

ENAD - AEL Limassol 62-49

The game was mostly controlled by Keravnos. Apollon was better in third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Apollon at the other side dropped to the fourth place with five games lost.

GS Kronos Agiou Dimitriou (A2) signed experienced 34-year old Cypriot guard Eleana Pantazi (177-83). It is actually her comeback to Kronos as she has played here before. Pantazi will still stay in Greece where she played last season at PAOK Thessalonikis in the A1. In 21 games she had 4.3ppg and 1.1rpg. Keravnos Strovolou (Division A) landed 31-year old Greek international guard Niki Avery (168-86, college: E.Kentucky, agency: Interperformances). She has a double citizenship as she also holds American passport. Avery played most recently at Panathinaikos in Greek A1 league.
