Very significant was Keravnos' (#1, 11-1) victory against second-best AEK (8-4) 91-71. The game was mostly controlled by Keravnos. AEK managed to win third quarter 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Somalian forward Mohamed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Ronald Ross (188-83, college: Texas Tech) who added 21 points and 6 assists during the contest. Keravnos' coach Christoforos Livadiotis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Courtney Pigram (185-85, college: E.Tenn.St.) with 17 points and 4 assists. Keravnos (11-1) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Defending champion AEK keeps the second place with four games lost. Keravnos are looking forward to face Apoel (#3) in Nicosia in the next round, which may be the game of the day. AEK will play at home against Etha and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
The game in Limassol was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Apoel (7-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Apollon (3-9). Apoel did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 88-71. The winners were led by Canadian Murphy Burnatowski (200-90, college: Colgate) who scored that evening 26 points and 4 steals (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and Tre Bussey supported him with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 19 points and 5 rebounds by American forward Cadarian Raines (206-90, college: Virginia Tech) did not help to save the game for Apollon. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Apoel have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 7-5 record having four points less than leader Keravnos. Apollon at the other side keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Apoel will play against league's leader Keravnos in Strovolos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Apollon will play on the road against Enosis (#4) in Paralimni and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Nicosia was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Enosis (5-7) played at the court of 6th ranked Etha (2-10). Enosis defeated Etha 75-65 on Friday. The best player for the winners was Tyler Hines who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Baden Jaxen who recorded 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Etha's coach Nicolas Papadopoulos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Enosis maintains fourth position with 5-7 record. Etha lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Enosis will meet at home Apollon (#5) in the next round. Etha will play against the league's second-placed AEK in Larnaca and hope to secure a win.
