  follow us on Facebook Twitter

We bring you last week's top performances from Cypriots who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Alexander Vezenkov
Alexander Vezenkov
#1. This week's number one is former U16 international power forward Alexander Vezenkov (206-95, currently plays in Euroleague). He could not help FC Barcelona (8-14) in their last game. Despite Vezenkov's very good performance the 12th-placed FC Barcelona (8-14) lost 62-69 at home to the lower-ranked (#15) Galatasaray in the group A of Euroleague. He was the top scorer with 18 points in 25 minutes on the court. It was FC Barcelona's fourth consecutive loss in a row. This year Vezenkov averages: 7.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 66.7%(38-57), 3FGP: 52.4%(22-42) and FT: 85.7% in 22 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Cypriot and Bulgarian. Vezenkov played for the Cypriot U16 national team seven years ago.

Andreas Christodoulou
Andreas Christodoulou
#2. Second place goes to former U16 international small forward Andreas Christodoulou (197-95, currently plays in Greece). He was not able to help one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams AGOR in their game against Lavrio (7-10) in the Greek A1. It was not Christodoulou's best game last Saturday. He scored only 2 points and had 4 steals in 15 minutes. AGOR lost 62-73 on the road to the higher-ranked (#7) Lavrio. This year Christodoulou's overall stats are: 6.8ppg, 1.9rpg, 1.7apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 48.6%, 3FGP: 25.9% and FT: 70.3% in 17 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Cypriot and Greek. Christodoulou played for the Cypriot U16 national team in 2011.

Christopher Razis
Christopher Razis
#3. The Cypriot player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Christopher Razis (194-89, currently plays in Greece) is a teammate of previously mentioned Andreas Christodoulou and both played together in the last Greek A1 game. Razis. He was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams AGOR (7-10) in their game against Lavrio (7-10). Razis' contribution was not very remarkable in Saturday's game. He scored only 2 points. AGOR was defeated 73-62 on the opponent's court by the higher-ranked Lavrio (#7). This season Razis averages just 1.8ppg, 2FGP: 33.3% and FT: 75.0%. He has both Cypriot and German nationalities. Ex-Keravnos Strovolou player is also a member of the Cypriot senior national team.

Anthony King
Anthony King
#4. Power forward Anthony King (206-85, college: Miami, FL, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Koeln Rh.Stars (11-12) in their last game. Despite his good performance Koeln Rh.Stars was edged 77-75 in Heidelberg by the leading MLP Academics. King recorded 13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 30 minutes. It's King's first season with the team. This year his total stats are: 8.5ppg, 6.0rpg, 2.0apg and 1.3bpg in eight games. King is a naturalized American. He is also Cypriot national team player. King used to play for InterCollege Etha Engomis in Cypriot league.

The list of other players, who all have Cypriot passport but never been selected to any of Cypriot national teams:

#1. Angel Natskin (184-G-93, currently plays in Bulgaria) could not help one of league's weakest teams Cherno More (5-11) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Cherno More was badly defeated 93-77 on the road by the higher-ranked Spartak Pleven (#6). Natskin scored 13 points and added 4 passes. It's Natskin's fourth season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 4.3ppg, 1.5rpg and 1.2apg. Natskin has a dual citizenship: Cypriot and Bulgarian. Despite his Cypriot passport, Natskin previously played for the Bulgarian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Cypriot team.

#2. Nasos Kyriakou (182-PG-89, currently plays in Greece) was not able to help Kavala in their game against Panionios (5-9) in the Greek A2 (second division). Kyriakou did not have that impressive stats last Saturday. He scored only 3 points in 9 minutes on the court. Kavala was crushed 73-50 in Athens by the higher-ranked (#9) Panionios. This year Kyriakou averages just 1.1ppg in 15 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Cypriot and Greek.

#3. Victor Ieronymides (198-F, currently plays in NCAA2) managed to help St.Martin's University to win against the Northwest Nazarene University (8-7) 90-81 in the NCAA2 on Saturday night. Ieronymides scored only 2 points. The St.Martin's University has 7-8 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA2 Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Ieronymides averages just 0.6ppg.
