Top ranked Keravnos (14-2) recorded its second loss in Larnaca on Tuesday night. Visitors were rolled over by second ranked AEK (12-4) 69-49. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Keravnos. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 40-15 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. AEK dominated on the defensive end, holding Keravnos to just 5 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Keravnos 44-22 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Croatian forward Tomislav Petrovic (202-85) fired 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Slovenian power forward Primoz Brezec (216-79) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. American-Somalian forward Mohamed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) produced 13 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AEK have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 12-4 record having just two points less than leader Keravnos. Keravnos at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. AEK are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Etha (#6) in Nicosia in the next round. Keravnos will play at home against Apoel (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The former international guard Iraklis Pittakas (192-84) replied with 27 points for Apollon. Apoel maintains third position with 9-7 record having five points less than leader Keravnos. Apollon lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Etha. Apoel will play against league's leader Keravnos in Strovolos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Apollon will play at home against Enosis (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 16 Etha was crushed by Enosis in Paralimni 79-59.

Enosis - Etha 79-59

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Etha's (3-13) road loss to fourth ranked Enosis (7-9) 59-79. The game was mostly controlled by Enosis. Etha was better in third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Etha to just 7 points in first quarter. Enosis maintains fourth position with 7-9 record. Etha at the other side dropped to the bottom place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Apollon. Enosis will play against Apollon (#5) in Limassol in the next round. Etha will play at home against the league's second-placed AEK and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Apoel - Apollon 106-56

The game with biggest result difference took place in Nicosia. Local Apoel (9-7) outscored 5th ranked Apollon (3-13) 106-56. The game without a history. Apoel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Apollon's 46. They outrebounded Apollon 48-19 including a 32-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Apoel players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Apollon's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian Murphy Burnatowski (200-90, college: Colgate) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). American forward Brandon Mobley (206-91, college: Seton Hall, agency: HMS) contributed with 24 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Apoel players scored in double figures. The former international guard Iraklis Pittakas (192-84) replied with 27 points and the former international Marios Georgiou (201-91) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Apollon.
