There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Division A.

The most shocking disappointment of round 18 was a home defeat of 5th ranked Apollon (3-15) to sixth ranked Etha (4-14) 96-83 in the game for the fifth place. The game was mostly controlled by Etha. Apollon managed to win second period 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Apollon's 22. Etha had a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Apollon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Baden Jaxen (190-90, college: N.Carolina) scored 36 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Leron Barnes (196-93, college: Houston) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Aristides Koronides (188-82) with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Etha moved-up to fifth place. Apollon lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 15 games lost. Etha are looking forward to face higher ranked Apoel (#3) in Nicosia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Apollon will play on the road against the league's leader Keravnos in Strovolos and is hoping to win this game.
Very significant was AEK's (#2, 14-4) victory against one of their biggest challengers Apoel (9-9) 73-69. Montenegrin Vladimir Dasic (207-88) notched 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Primoz Brezec supported him with 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even 20 points by American guard Tre Bussey (190-91, college: Georgia South) did not help to save the game for Apoel. AEK (14-4) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position having just two points less than leader Keravnos. Apoel at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost. AEK will play against Enosis (#4) in Paralimni in the next round. Apoel will play on the road against Etha in Nicosia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very significant was Keravnos' (#1, 16-2) victory against 4th ranked Enosis (8-10) 76-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Enosis. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was Kenny Barker who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Eric Washington who recorded 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Enosis' coach Nikolas Papadopoulos rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Keravnos maintains first position with 16-2 record. Loser Enosis keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Keravnos will meet at home bottom-ranked Apollon (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Enosis will play against the league's second-placed AEK in Larnaca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Apoel - AEK 69-73

Very significant was AEK's (#2, 14-4) victory against one of their biggest challengers Apoel (9-9) 73-69. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Apoel won third quarter 19-6. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when AEK won last quarter 23-20. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Montenegrin Vladimir Dasic (207-88) notched 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Slovenian power forward Primoz Brezec (216-79) supported him with 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even 20 points by American guard Tre Bussey (190-91, college: Georgia South) did not help to save the game for Apoel. His fellow American import forward Brandon Mobley (206-91, college: Seton Hall, agency: HMS) added 13 points and 9 rebounds. AEK (14-4) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position having just two points less than leader Keravnos. Apoel at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost.
