There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in Division A.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Nicosia: Apoel (#3) and Etha (#5). Etha was defeated at home 80-86 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Etha won third quarter 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Apoel made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Brandon Mobley (206-91, college: Seton Hall, agency: HMS) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Guard Robert Brown (196-92, college: UAB) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Baden Jaxen (190-90, college: N.Carolina) produced 32 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Apoel maintains third place with 10-9 record having seven points less than leader Keravnos. Etha at the other side keeps the fifth position with 15 games lost. Apoel are looking forward to face Enosis (#4) in Paralimni in the next round. Etha will play at home against the league's leader Keravnos and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
An exciting game was played in Larnaca. Second ranked AEK faced 4th placed Enosis. Host AEK (15-4) defeated guests from Paralimni (8-11) 68-57. Worth to mention a great performance of Montenegrin Vladimir Dasic (207-88) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds. Primoz Brezec contributed with 12 points for the winners. Canadian forward Kevin Thomas (203-92, college: Troy) answered with 6 points and 14 rebounds for Enosis. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AEK have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 15-4 record having just two points less than leader Keravnos. Enosis at the other side keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. AEK will play against bottom-ranked Apollon (#6) in Limassol in the next round. Enosis will play at home against Apoel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Apollon will play against the league's second-placed AEK and hope to secure a win.

Etha - Apoel 80-86

Keravnos - Apollon 96-42

Leader Keravnos delivered the seventeenth victory on Friday night. This time they crushed 6th ranked Apollon (3-16) 96-42 in Strovolos. The game without a history. Keravnos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Apollon to just 5 points in second quarter. Keravnos dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Apollon's 20. Keravnos forced 25 Apollon turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Apollon's players. It was a great evening for American power forward Terell Parks (204-91, college: W.Illinois) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jake O'Brien (206-89, college: Temple, agency: HMS) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Keravnos players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international Marios Georgiou (201-91) responded with 12 points and center Papa Suleiman (207-98) scored 4 points and 10 rebounds. But then AEK had a 22-9 second period charge getting the lead and Enosis was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 57-68. AEK forced 25 Enosis turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Enosis' players. AEK Larnaca lift Cup trophy - 2 days ago
AEK Larnaca overcame Keravnos 62:58 in the Final of the Cyprus Cup to lift up the trophy. AEK needed the final push at the end of the game to seal the victory. They opened the game with a 20-10 lead, but the opponents replied with a massive 22-9 surge in the second frame. Aek beats Keravnos and wins the Cup - 2 days ago
Aek succeeds a great win over Keravnos and wins the Cup Final with 62-58. In a close game in which both teams were bad behind the 3-point line (Aek had 7 in 24 and Keravnos 4 in 20) Primoz Brezec(216-F/C-79) finished the game with 19 and Dasic with 11 pts. In the loosing squad Ross had 16 and Abukar 13 pts. Both teams had around the same 2 point FG percentage (57% and 53% respectively) with Keravnos being way better from the FT line (Keravnos had 12 in 15 whereas Aek had 7 in 18)....   [read more]
