James
Chester 'Tre' Simmons (198-G-82, college: Washington) is a 6'6' swingman who lately brought a lot of attention in Europe with his great performance in a 79:60 win for his club over CSKA Moscow. We asked him some on and off the court questions to get to know him better.

This is your second season with Nymburk. Last year CEZ won national title and you were leading scorer. This year, the success continues. What makes you still best team in Czech Republic ?
What makes us still the best in Czech i think is the caliber of players we have, coaches did a good job of keeping and adding great players to continue the history of Nymburk basketball. And we all have one goal and thats to win a Czech championship.

This year you are competing in several competitions. Which is the most important one for the team? European competitions or domestic championship ?
I think both VTB and domestic league is important. We are still in the Eurocup also. Just gives the players and team a lot of exposure and thats good.

What do you think the team can improve on to be better?
I think we can improve on a couple things of course no team is perfect and you have good and bad days, i would say if we just stay consistent at what we are good at, we will be ok.

After spending all years of your professional career in Europe, do you think European basketball is improving?
I think European basketball is improving, especially with guys that came from the NBA over here made it more interesting, theres a lot of good teams in Europe, just wish some games came on in the States more.

What are your personal goals this season ?
My personal goals is to get as far as possible in Eurocup, VTB and win the Czech championship, and just stay healthy!

How is your life in Czech Republic ? Do you live there with your family ? How do you like the city, food, traditions ? Do you have a pet ?
Life in Czech republic is not bad, although i am here by myself my family is in the states (Seattle, Wa) my kids have school and my fiancee is a nurse so thats pretty tough. but the food is pretty good, i see they love beer and in my opinion not a fan of beer, but were located in a small town but Prague is not that far away. I have not pets, thats like having another kid to take care of. (lol)

Who is your favorite basketball player or an athlete ? (these days or the past)
Right now i like LeBron James, he can do everything on the court, pass score, play defense.. but theres a few players. I like Deron Williams, my boy Jamal Crawford, Kevin Durant, I don't think nobody can guard those guys.

Do you have any superstitions before the game or on the court (like before free throws) ?

I have no superstitions, I just pray before every game, I do have a routine at the free throw line but you'll have to watch the game to see!

There is all about the March Madness in the US right now, do you have your favorites, do you follow some college action ?
March madness. Im going to have to go with my college Washington Huskies. But like how Missouri and Kentucky are playing good.

Do you think Czech basketball is getting better ? How do you see the level of domestic competition and native players ?
I think Czech basketball will get better theres a few pretty good teams in the league, it will get better as the years progress.

Did you learn some Czech language ?
I don't really know too much check, only hi and bye and those are the same words. (lol)

What is your favorite music, food ?
I like rap music some r&b some old school. my favorite food is fried chicken, my mom's preferably.

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?
The last dvd i saw was 'The Wood', pretty funny.

Everyone is talking about your VTB win over CSKA and your incredible performance. 24 points on 11/15 form the field and six boards. Was it biggest win for Nymburk last two years ?
I think it was one of the biggest wins for Nymburk, they're the #1 team in Europe so it was huge for us and the organization.

Did you have special motivation for this game ?
I had a lot of motivation for this game, i love playing against big teams. I also had a big article on Eurobasket that day so that gave me an extra motivation.

Was it your personal best game this season ?
My personal best game, thats pretty tough. I don't think I can pick one.

If you beat CSKA by 19, sky is the limit. What goals are still to be accomplished this season for the team ?
Our goal is to try and get to the Final Four in Eurocup but we do have a tough task ahead of us against a really good team, to finish strong in Vtb league and of course win the Czech championship.

What role in your victories do your fans play ?
Our fans play a big part and its motivating to see them in the stands with flags, playing drums making noise etc. I give them a lot of credit, they try to come to every game, dedication!

Your favorite saying or quote you like ?
I have a few but my dad tells me every time i get off the phone with him to ''protect yourself at all times'.
