NBL Round 13: CEZ Nymburk beats BC Kolin in the most crucial game of the week - Nov 28, 2012

NBL is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 13 rounds left.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kolin. Leader CEZ Nymburk faced 3rd placed BC Kolin. Guests from Nymburk (12-0) smashed host BC Kolin (7-5) 94-67. The game was mostly controlled by CEZ Nymburk. BC Kolin managed to win third quarter 26-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CEZ Nymburk dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to BC Kolin's 42. American center Andrew Naymick (209-85, agency: Warren Sports International) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international Jiri Welsch (199-80) chipped in 15 points. American guard Demarius Bolds (190-84, college: Missouri Western, agency: I.D.S. Law) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated CEZ Nymburk have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 12-0 record. BC Kolin at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. They share it with BK Prostejov. CEZ Nymburk are looking forward to face Basketbal Svitavy (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. BC Kolin will play against USK Praha (#7) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
The game in Pardubice was also worth to mention about. Second ranked NH Ostrava (11-1) played at the court of 5th ranked BK Pardubice (6-5). NH Ostrava managed to secure a 4-point victory 84-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BK Pardubice. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Rahsaan Ames (184-78, college: Shaw) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Rostislav Pelikan contributed with 18 points for the winners. Lithuanian point guard Evaldas Zabas (188-88) answered with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for BK Pardubice. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for NH Ostrava. They maintain second place with 11-1 record behind leader CEZ Nymburk. BK Pardubice at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with BK Decin. NH Ostrava will play against BK Prostejov (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BK Pardubice will play against BK Usti nad Labem and hopes to get back on the winning track.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Chomutov, where 7th ranked USK Praha (6-6) lost to tenth ranked Levharti Chomutov (4-8) in a road game 66-75 on Wednesday. Pavel Bosak stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. At the losing side Michal Sotnar responded with 13 points and 5 assists. USK Praha's coach Ken Scalabroni rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Levharti Chomutov moved-up to ninth place, which they share with B&W Opava. USK Praha lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Levice. Levharti Chomutov will meet at home bottom-ranked BK Lions Hradec (#13) in the next round. USK Praha will play against BC Kolin (#4) and hope to secure a win.
An interesting game took place in Opava, where 4th placed BK Decin (6-5) lost to ninth ranked B&W Opava (4-8) in a road game 67-79. Jakub Blazek nailed 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. BK Decin's coach Pavel Budinsky tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. B&W Opava maintains ninth place with 4-8 record, which they share with Chomutov. BK Decin at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. B&W Opava's next round opponent will be higher ranked Levice (#8) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

In the last two games of round 13 bottom-ranked J.Hradec was defeated by BK Prostejov in a road game 106-92. Levice beat Svitavy at home 74-66.
The best stats of 13th round was 18 points and 11 rebounds by Ondrej Dygryn of J.Hradec.



Chomutov - USK Praha 75-66

We should mention about the upset which took place in Chomutov, where 7th ranked USK Praha (6-6) lost to tenth ranked Levharti Chomutov (4-8) in a road game 66-75 on Wednesday. Levharti Chomutov outrebounded USK Praha 40-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. Swingman Pavel Bosak (192-82) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and power forward Pavel Stanek (203-76, agency: Court Side) chipped in 22 points. Four Levharti Chomutov players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Michal Sotnar (189-92) responded with 13 points and 5 assists and swingman Michal Mares (192-92) scored 16 points. USK Praha's coach Ken Scalabroni rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Levharti Chomutov moved-up to ninth place, which they share with B&W Opava. There was no surprise when 13th ranked BK Lions Hradec (2-10) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked BK Prostejov (7-5) 106-92. BK Lions Hradec was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 64-46 second half run of BK Prostejov. They also forced 20 BK Lions Hradec turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by BK Lions Hradec helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Austin Dufault (205-90, college: Colorado) nailed 23 points and 7 assists for the winning side and Slovakian Dusan Pandula (196-84) accounted for 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International guard Ondrej Dygryn (190-84) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and center Jan Tomanec (205-85) added 22 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) respectively for BK Lions Hradec in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BK Lions Hradec's coach tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BK Prostejov moved-up to third place, which they share with BC Kolin. BK Lions Hradec at the other side stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. BK Prostejov's next round opponent will be league's second-placed NH Ostrava at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. BK Lions Hradec will play against Levharti Chomutov (#9).

An interesting game took place in Opava, where 4th placed BK Decin (6-5) lost to ninth ranked B&W Opava (4-8) in a road game 67-79. BK Decin was ahead by 15 points after three quarters before a 59-67 charge of B&W Opava, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Jakub Blazek (203-80) nailed 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and international guard Jakub Sirina (185-87) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four B&W Opava players scored in double figures. Slovakian center Peter Sedmak (207-85) came up with 23 points and swingman Lubos Stria (197-81) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for BK Decin in the defeat. BK Decin's coach Pavel Budinsky tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. B&W Opava maintains ninth place with 4-8 record, which they share with Chomutov. No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Levice (6-6) defeated at home 11th ranked Basketbal Svitavy (3-9) 74-66. The hosts were ahead by 9 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 17-8 run, which allowed them to win the game. Levice dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Basketbal Svitavy's 22. They outrebounded Basketbal Svitavy 46-31 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard David Kyles (190-89, college: Wichita St.) nailed 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Jeremy Simmons (204-89, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 16 points and 8 rebounds. Levice's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Jiri Jelinek (203-87) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and guard Tomas Teply (193-87) added 13 points respectively for Basketbal Svitavy in the defeat.
