Power forward Michal Norwa (202-F/C-83) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Prostejov, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 13. The 33-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat BK Pardubice (#2, 10-3) 87-75. Prostejov maintains the 6th position in Czech Republic NBL. Prostejov is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-6 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Norwa as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Michal Norwa has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 7.2rpg) and averages impressive 56.7% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old American Kevin Ware (188-G-93, agency: Mansfield and Associates) of MMCITE Brno. Ware had a very good evening with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as MMCITE Brno lost that game 71-81 to the higher-ranked BK Decin (#3, 9-4). MMCITE Brno are still at the very bottom. 11 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories MMCITE Brno managed to get this year. Ware is a newcomer at MMCITE Brno, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Garret Kerr (194-F-92) of BK Kolin (#4). Kerr scored 15 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). Despite Kerr's great performance BK Kolin lost 79-83 to #1 ranked CEZ Nymburk. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing BK Kolin needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 7 victories and 6 lost games. Kerr has a great season in Czech Republic. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.8rpg (4th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Roman Marko (194-SG-86) of Prostejov - 27 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists 5. Bannister (180-PG-84) of Svitavy - 15 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists 8. DeAndre Mays (188-PG-87) of Svitavy - 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Radek Necas (206-F-80) of BK Pardubice - 9 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Radovan Kouril (185-PG-95) of BK Opava - 12 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
