Czech Republic NBL round 16 best performance: Pawel Mroz - Dec 16, 2012

Polish center Pawel Mroz (215-C-84) had an amazing evening in the last round for Svitavy, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 28-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds, while his team crushed USK Praha (#10, 6-10) with 16-point margin 97-81. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. Svitavy maintains the 11th position in Czech Republic NBL. Svitavy is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-11 record. In the team's last game Mroz had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Svitavy and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Pawel Mroz has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 6.9rpg).

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old American John Fields (205-F-88) of Chomutov. Fields had a very good evening with a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds. Of course he lead Chomutov to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Usti n/Labem (#13, 3-12) 100-77. This victory allowed Chomutov to move up to 7th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-9 record. Fields is a newcomer at Chomutov, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Svitavy's star - American guard Michael Deloach (183-PG-86). Deloach showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in the last round. He was another key player of Svitavy, helping his team with a 97-81 easy win against slightly higher-ranked USK Praha (#10, 6-10). The chances of Svitavy not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Deloach could try to bring Svitavy's a little bit higher in the standings. Deloach has individually a great season in Czech Republic. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.1ppg (5th best), rebounds with 6.8rpg (9th best) and assists with 4.6apg (3rd best). He also has FGP: 51.7% and 3PT: 47.5%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Pavel Bosak (192-G/F-82) of Chomutov - 25 points and 3 rebounds
5. Petr Bohacik (205-F-85) of BK Pardubice - 23 points and 9 rebounds
6. Emanuel Ubilla (188-G-86) of BC Kolin - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists
7. Showron Glover (180-PG-87) of Chomutov - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Jiri Jelinek (203-F-87) of Svitavy - 19 points and 11 rebounds
9. Michal Sotnar (189-PG-92) of USK Praha - 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Rahsaan Ames (184-PG-78) of NH Ostrava - 21 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Denny McDonald leaves Usti n/Labem - 1 day ago

Canadian-Jamaica forward Denny McDonald (198) left SLUNETA Usti nad Labem (NBL). McDonald ended the last season at Windsor Express in Canadian NBL Canada. But in 7 games he recorded just 0.6ppg and 1.6rpg. McDonald helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in NBL Canada Central Division. They also advanced to the league semifinals. But the most of that year he spent at Saint John Mill Rats in NBL Canada where in 18 games he averaged only 1.7ppg. McDonald previously for...   [read more]

Ladislav Pecka claims Czech Republic NBL weekly honour - 1 day ago

Ladislav Pecka (197-F-91) put on an amazing game in the last round for Usti n/Labem and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2.
