Lubos Barton
Returning to play in the NBL for the first time since the 1997-1998 season, 32-year old forward Lubos Barton (202-SF-80, college: Valparaiso) made his season debut tonight with USK Praha, scoring a game-high 20 points in a 91-86 victory over NH Ostrava. The 6-8 Barton returns home after an extensive and successful career playing at the highest European levels with famed clubs in Italy and Spain. After starring collegiality at NCAA Valparaiso (Mid-Con Conference POY - 2002), Barton headed to Italy to begin his European career with Skipper Fortitudo Bologna. From there he continued his tour thru Italy with Lottomatica Roma and then on to Spain where he made his debut with DKV Joventut Badalona during the 2005-06 season. Spain is where Barton would play the remainder of his time prior to returning to the Czech Republic, highlighted by a Spanish ACB Championship season in 2008-09 with Regal FC Barcelona. Last season he played with Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in domestic and EuroChallenge contests before finishing the season with FIATC Joventut Badalona.
A long-time member and star of the Czech Republic National team, Barton has earned many accolades throughout his illustrious career; Eurobasket.com FIBA EuroCup All-Domestic Players Team -06, Eurobasket.com Spanish ACB All-Bosmans Team -06, Eurobasket.com All-Europe Honorable Mention 2007, FIBA EuroCup Champion -06 and ULEB Cup Winner -08. During this past summer's Qualifications to European Championships 2013, he appeared in eight games for the Czech Republic, averaging 8.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals.

CEZ Nymburk beat Opava to seal Cup trophy in Prostejov. The defending Czech champions posted a comfortable 72-52 win in the Final. They won the first period 19-14 and added a 21-14 rally in the second frame for a 12-point halftime advantage. Moreover CEZ Nymburk closed the game with a 16-8 run to triumph in the Hyundai FINAL 4.
