Congolese-French Boris Meno (203-F-83, agency: Two Points) had a great game in the last round for USK Praha and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 19. The 29-year old forward had a double-double of 32 points and eighteen rebounds, while his team beat Usti n/Labem (#13, 3-15) 82-69. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on the top of the standings. USK Praha maintains the 9th position in Czech Republic NBL. USK Praha is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 8-11 record. In the team's last game Meno had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be USK Praha's top player in his first season with the team. Davidson College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Meno is in league's top in points (3rd best: 18.1ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 10.0rpg) and averages solid 51.9% FGP and 41.5% from behind 3-point line.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old American forward Justin Greene (203-F-89) of second-ranked NH Ostrava. Greene impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds. Of course NH Ostrava cruised to a 87-76 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked J.Hradec (#12, 5-13). NH Ostrava's second position in the standings has not changed. His team's 14-5 record is not bad at all. Greene is a newcomer at NH Ostrava and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.
The third best performed player last round was American John Fields (205-F-88) of Chomutov (#8). Fields scored 19 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Chomutov, leading his team to a 82-80 win against slightly lower-ranked B&W Opava (#10, 6-12). The chances of Chomutov ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 11 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Fields could help Chomutov to bring them higher in the standings. Fields has a great season in Czech Republic. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.7ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 10.4rpg (#1 in league). He also has 1.1bpg and FGP: 61.9%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Evaldas Zabas (188-PG-88) of BK Pardubice - 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists 5. Salih Nuhanovic (208-C-82) of Levice - 21 points and 12 rebounds 6. Levell Sanders (189-G-75) of BK Decin - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Jan Tomanec (205-C-85) of J.Hradec - 22 points and 10 rebounds 8. Travis Nelson (208-C-87) of BK Pardubice - 22 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Ladislav Sokolovsky (200-G-77) of B&W Opava - 31 points and 3 rebounds 10. Corey Muirhead (197-F-83) of BK Pardubice - 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
