The most exciting game of round 17 in the ZBL took place in Karlovy Vary. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Kara Trutnov (10-7) to eighth ranked Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary (7-10) 66-65 on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 20-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Lauren Bell (172-90, college: Pepperdine) stepped up and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Sarka Kucerova (181-82) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Ambrosia Anderson (186-84, college: BYU) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary maintains eighth place with 7-10 record. Kara Trutnov at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary are looking forward to face higher ranked VS Praha (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kara Trutnov will play against Aldast Strakonice and is hoping to win this game.
Bottom-ranked BK Pliska Studanka managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of seven consecutive loses. This time they won against sixth-ranked VS Praha in Pardubice 58-54. Center Marketa Jedlickova (187-94) nailed 15 points for the winning side and Pavlina Jirkova accounted for 12 points and 5 rebounds. Center Petra Reisingerova (195-73) came up with 28 points and 7 rebounds for VS Praha in the defeat. BK Pliska Studanka maintains twelfth place with 2-15 record. VS Praha lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with eight games lost. BK Pliska Studanka will play against higher ranked Valosun Brno (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. VS Praha will play against Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-1 record. DSK Karlin lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. USK Praha's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Praha to the arena VSE Praha.
An interesting game took place in Strakonice where higher ranked VSE Praha (9-8) was upset on the court of tenth ranked Aldast Strakonice (5-12) 67-56. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of VSE Praha. Katerina Krizova orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. VSE Praha's coach Jiri Barta rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Aldast Strakonice moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Slovanka MB. VSE Praha at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Aldast Strakonice's next round opponent will be higher ranked Kara Trutnov (#4) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. VSE Praha's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Praha USK Praha.

In the last two games of round 17 Valosun Brno lost to Hradec Kralove on the opponent's court 57-68. IMOS Brno managed to outperform Slovanka MB in a home game 84-69.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists by Farhiya Abdi of IMOS Brno.


Lokomotiva - Trutnov 66-65

The most exciting game of round 17 in the ZBL took place in Karlovy Vary. ZBL top team - USK Praha (16-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked DSK Karlin (3-14) 101-62. The game without a history. USK Praha led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to DSK Karlin's 36 and made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. USK Praha forced 21 DSK Karlin turnovers and outrebounded them 43-25 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by DSK Karlin's players. The best player for the winners was American center Kia Vaughn (193-87, college: Rutgers) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. International center Ilona Burgrova (194-84, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 17 points. Four USK Praha players scored in double figures. Very expected game when 7th ranked Valosun Brno (7-9) was defeated on the road by third ranked Sokol Hradec Kralove (14-3) 68-57. The game was mostly controlled by Sokol Hradec Kralove. Valosun Brno was better in fourth quarter 19-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Valosun Brno to just 7 points in third quarter. Sokol Hradec Kralove forced 19 Valosun Brno turnovers. The former international center Michaela Hartigova (192-83) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Very predictable result when second ranked IMOS Brno (15-2) defeated at home 9th ranked Basket Slovanka MB (5-12) 84-69. It looked good early as Basket Slovanka MB took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then IMOS Brno had a 21-10 second period charge getting the lead and Basket Slovanka MB was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-84. IMOS Brno made 22-of-25 charity shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Basket Slovanka MB turnovers and had a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Swedish forward Farhiya Abdi (188-92) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line).
