Venta's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - Jan 20, 2013

Matej Venta
28-year old point guard Matej Venta (188-PG-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for J.Hradec and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 23.
He had a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat B&W Opava (#12, 6-16) 92-83. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. J.Hradec maintains the 11th position in Czech Republic league. J.Hradec is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-15 record. Venta just recently signed at J.Hradec and it was his first game, where he immediately became new team's leader.

Second best performed player last round was Showron Glover (180-PG-87) of Chomutov. He is American guard in his first season at Chomutov. In the last game Glover recorded impressive 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Chomutov lost that game 89-94 to slightly higher-ranked Svitavy (8-14). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Chomutov dropped in the standings to 10th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 8-14 record. Glover is a newcomer at Chomutov and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to another Chomutov's star - forward John Fields (205-F-88). Fields scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Despite Fields' great performance Chomutov lost 89-94 to Svitavy (8-14). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. The chances of Chomutov not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 14 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Fields could try to bring Chomutov's a little bit higher in the standings. Fields has individually a great season in Czech Republic. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.4ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 10.4rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Dusan Pandula (196-SF-84) of BK Prostejov - 28 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Brandon Fields (193-G-88) of Levice - 29 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Kamil Svrdlik (206-PF-86) of BK Prostejov - 21 points and 6 rebounds
7. Andrew Naymick (209-C-85) of CEZ Nymburk - 11 points and 13 rebounds
8. Salih Nuhanovic (208-C-82) of Levice - 19 points and 6 rebounds
9. Tweety Carter (180-PG-86) of CEZ Nymburk - 22 points, 3 rebounds and 9 assists
10. Radek Necas (205-F-80) of CEZ Nymburk - 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Chasson Randle Impressed at NBA Summer League - 6 days ago

CEZ Basketball Nymburk guard Chasson Randle (187-PG-93, college: Stanford) had a chance to show his stuff for the New York Knicks and the entire NBA at the 2016 NBA Summer League in Orlando. The former Stanford Cardinal, who went undrafted in 2015, appeared in just three games this summer, but made the most of his time on the court for the Knick's summer-league squad which consisted mostly rookies, young players and a smattering of seasoned veterans. Randle averaged an eye-opening 18.3...   [read more]
