There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in NBL. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team and favorites losing the games.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of USK Praha (12-15) at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by Levice (14-13) 74-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of USK Praha. Levice dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to USK Praha's 24. They outrebounded USK Praha 41-28 including a 12-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Richard Grznar (189-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points. American forward Jeremy Simmons (204-89, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international center Stanislav Votroubek (212-81) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds for USK Praha. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Levice have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group A2 leader. USK Praha at the other side dropped to the third place with 15 games lost. Levice are looking forward to face BK Usti nad Labem (#5) at home in the next round. USK Praha will play against B&W Opava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked BC Kolin (14-11) against fifth ranked BK Decin (15-11) on Wednesday night. Visiting BC Kolin was defeated by BK Decin in a tough game in Decin 91-96. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BC Kolin. American guard Patrick Pope (183-81, college: St.Augustine) scored 26 points and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Miroslav Soukup chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. BK Decin's coach Pavel Budinsky allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Demarius Bolds (190-84, college: Missouri Western, agency: I.D.S. Law) responded with 29 points and 6 rebounds. BK Decin moved-up to fourth place in Group A1. BC Kolin at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. BK Decin will play against BK Pardubice (#5) on the road in the next round. BC Kolin will play against the league's second-placed NH Ostrava and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for CEZ Nymburk (25-1) which played road game in Ostrava against second-ranked NH Ostrava (18-8). First ranked CEZ Nymburk had an easy win 90-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of NH Ostrava. Radoslav Rancik notched 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 19 points by Jan Stehlik did not help to save the game for NH Ostrava. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CEZ Nymburk have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position in Group A1 with 25-1 record. Loser NH Ostrava keeps the second place with eight games lost. CEZ Nymburk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. NH Ostrava will play against BC Kolin and hope to secure a win.
An interesting game for Levharti Chomutov (10-17) which hosted in Chomutov 4th ranked B&W Opava (7-20). Third ranked Levharti Chomutov managed to get a 7-point victory 91-84. The best player for the winners was Curtis Allen who scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. B&W Opava's coach Petr Czudek rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Levharti Chomutov moved-up to second place in Group A2. B&W Opava at the other side keeps the fourth position with 20 games lost. Levharti Chomutov's next round opponent will be Basketbal Svitavy (#6) on the road. B&W Opava will play against USK Praha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Prostejov was also quite interesting. 4th ranked BK Pardubice (17-8) played at the court of sixth ranked BK Prostejov (16-10). BK Prostejov defeated BK Pardubice 99-86 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BK Pardubice. Ondrej Kohout orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. BK Pardubice's coach Jan Slowiak let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. BK Prostejov moved-up to third place in Group A1. Loser BK Pardubice dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. BK Prostejov will have a break next round. BK Pardubice will play at home against BK Decin (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In Group A2 J.Hradec beat Usti n/Labem on the road 91-87.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by Corey Muirhead of BK Pardubice.

NH Ostrava - CEZ Nymburk 71-90

An interesting game for CEZ Nymburk (25-1) which played road game in Ostrava against second-ranked NH Ostrava (18-8). First ranked CEZ Nymburk had an easy win 90-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of NH Ostrava. The game was mostly controlled by CEZ Nymburk. NH Ostrava managed to win fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. CEZ Nymburk had a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for CEZ Nymburk especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Slovakian power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, college: St.Cloud St., agency: Beo Basket) notched 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and American point guard Tweety Carter (180-86, college: Baylor) supported him with 18 points and 6 assists. Four CEZ Nymburk players scored in double figures. Even 19 points by guard Jan Stehlik (184-86) did not help to save the game for NH Ostrava. American forward Austin Dufault (205-90, college: Colorado) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Very important is a road loss of third ranked BC Kolin (14-11) against fifth ranked BK Decin (15-11) on Wednesday night. Visiting BC Kolin was defeated by BK Decin in a tough game in Decin 91-96. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BC Kolin. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BC Kolin won third quarter 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded BC Kolin 39-27 including 24 on the defensive glass. BK Decin shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. BC Kolin was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Ondrej Kohout (204-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. Slovakian Dusan Pandula (196-84) contributed with 20 points and 6 assists for the winners. Canadian-Jamaican forward Corey Muirhead (197-83, college: W.Carolina) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Travis Nelson (208-87, college: Minnesota St.) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for BK Pardubice. There was a small surprise when seventh ranked BK Lions Hradec (8-20) beat on the road 5th ranked BK Usti nad Labem (7-20) 91-87 on Wednesday. BK Lions Hradec made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 BK Usti nad Labem turnovers. BK Usti nad Labem was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Jan Tomanec (205-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Slovenian point guard Matej Venta (188-84) contributed with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four BK Lions Hradec players scored in double figures. American forward Brad Reese (199-88, college: Texas Tech) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and American-Polish forward Robert Lewandowski (208-89, college: Texas Tech) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for BK Usti nad Labem. BK Usti nad Labem's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Turi Svitavy (NBL) signed 32-year old American point guard T.J. Bannister (180-84, college: Liberty, agency: Inception Sports). He played last season at MBK Rieker Com Therm Komarno in Slovakian SBL league. In 25 games he had 12.5ppg, 3.5rpg, 8.5apg and 1.6spg. Bannister helped them to make it to the final. Abercrombie comes back to Svitavy - 4 days ago

Turi Svitavy (NBL) added to their roster 31-year old American power forward Cory Abercrombie (201-102kg-85, college: Independence CC). It is actually his comeback to Basketbal Svitavy as he has played here before. Abercrombie was about to sign at Usti n/Labem (NBL). The last season he played also at BK Usti nad Labem where in 32 NBL games he recorded 10.6ppg and 4.3rpg. Abercrombie also played earlier that season for Parnu Sadam in Alexela KML.
