NBL Round 3: BC Kolin defeats NH Ostrava in the closest game of the week - Mar 2, 2013

The most exciting game of round 3 in the NBL took place in Kolin. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best NH Ostrava (18-9) to sixth ranked BC Kolin (15-11) 82-80 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 26-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. BC Kolin made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for forward David Machac (205-80) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Puerto Rican-American guard Emanuel Ubilla (188-86, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: Court Side) helped adding 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Austin Dufault (205-90, college: Colorado) with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BC Kolin maintains sixth place in Group A1 with 15-11 record. NH Ostrava at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. BC Kolin are looking forward to face league's leader CEZ Nymburk on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. NH Ostrava will play against BK Pardubice and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked USK Praha (12-16) against sixth ranked B&W Opava (8-20) on Saturday night. Visiting USK Praha was defeated by B&W Opava in Opava 77-62. It was an exceptional evening for forward Jakub Blazek (203-80) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. Radim Kramny accounted for 15 points and 14 rebounds. B&W Opava's coach Petr Czudek allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Viktor Cvek (200-89) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for USK Praha in the defeat. B&W Opava moved-up to fifth place in Group A2, which they share with J.Hradec. USK Praha at the other side keeps the second position with 16 games lost. B&W Opava will play against BK Usti nad Labem (#7) on the road in the next round. USK Praha will play against Basketbal Svitavy (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Svitavy. 4th placed host Basketbal Svitavy (9-19) lost to third ranked Levharti Chomutov (11-17) 85-75. The best player for the winners was John Fields who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Michael Deloach who recorded 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Levharti Chomutov have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place in Group A2 with 11-17 record having twelve points less than leader CEZ Nymburk. Basketbal Svitavy lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 19 games lost. Levharti Chomutov will meet at home league's second-placed USK Praha in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Basketbal Svitavy will play against the league's second-placed USK Praha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
NBL top team - Levice (15-13) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat seventh ranked BK Usti nad Labem (7-21) 95-81. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for Willie Kemp who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 4 assists. Levice have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group A2 with 15-13 record. BK Usti nad Labem lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 21 games lost. Levice's next round opponent will be BK Lions Hradec (#5) in J.Hradec. BK Usti nad Labem will play at home against B&W Opava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Pardubice was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked BK Decin (16-11) played at the court of 5th ranked BK Pardubice (17-9). BK Pardubice - BK Decin 68-85

The game in Pardubice was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked BK Decin (16-11) played at the court of 5th ranked BK Pardubice (17-9). BK Decin did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 85-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by BK Decin. BK Pardubice was better in fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BK Decin looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Patrick Pope (183-81, college: St.Augustine) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points. His fellow American import guard Levell Sanders (189-75, college: Seton Hall, agency: Stanley International) helped adding 13 points and 6 assists. Four BK Decin players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Zbynek Pospisil (206-81) with 15 points and 7 rebounds and international point guard Michal Carnecky (184-85) scored 5 points and 7 assists. BK Pardubice's coach Jan Slowiak rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Despite that victory BK Decin went down to fifth position (Group A1) due to points difference. Loser BK Pardubice dropped to the third place with nine games lost. BK Decin will face higher ranked BK Prostejov (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
