American Travis Nelson (208-C-87) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best BK Pardubice and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4 (Second Stage). The 25-year old center had the game-high 27 points adding seven rebounds for BK Pardubice in his team's victory, helping them to edge out NH Ostrava (#3, 18-10) 80-79. BK Pardubice is placed at 2nd position in Czech Republic NBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. BK Pardubice will need more victories to improve their 18-9 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Nelson as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Travis Nelson averages this season 11.7ppg and 5.4rpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old American point guard Showron Glover (180-PG-87) of Chomutov. Glover impressed basketball fans with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. It was enough for Chomutov to edge slightly higher-ranked USK Praha (#-4, 13-17) by 3 points 101-98. This victory allowed Chomutov to move up to -3th position in A2. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 12-17 record. Glover is a newcomer at Chomutov and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was American Willie Kemp (188-PG-87) of Levice (#-5). Kemp scored 28 points and passed seven assists. Despite Kemp's great performance Levice lost 90-103 to #0 ranked J.Hradec. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Levice needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in A2. Their record is 15 victories and 14 lost games. Kemp has a great season in Czech Republic. After 20 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.4apg (5th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Jakub Sirina (185-G-87) of B&W Opava - 14 points, 2 rebounds and 11 assists 5. Thaddeus McFadden (188-G-87) of Usti n/Labem - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists 6. Roman Marko (194-SG-86) of BK Prostejov - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Michael Deloach (183-PG-86) of Svitavy - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists 8. Jakub Krakovic (205-F-90) of Usti n/Labem - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists 9. Thaddeus McFadden (188-G-87) of Usti n/Labem - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Curtis Allen (193-G-86) of Chomutov - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
