We bring you last week's top performances from Czechs who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Tomas Satoransky (201-91, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. He could not help Cajasol (9-15) in their last game. Despite Satoransky's very good performance Cajasol lost 63-71 at home to the higher-ranked (#10) Blusens Monbus. He was the top scorer with 19 points. Satoransky also added 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 26 minutes on the court. It's Satoransky's first season with the team. Satoransky is currently fifth on the list of best passers with 4.1apg. He also averaged so far 12.3ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 51.5%, 3FGP: 34.0% and FT: 75.9% in the 23 games he played so far. Satoransky is currently a member of the Czech Republic senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international shooting guard Pavel Pumprla (198-86, currently plays in Spain) faced previously mentioned Tomas Satoransky in the Spanish ACB last game. Pumprla contributed to a Blusens Monbus' victory against the 14th-ranked Cajasol (9-15) 71-63. He scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. This season Pumprla averages: 7.0ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 58.0%(58-100), 3FGP: 46.2%(6-13) and FT: 82.5%. He is in the roster of the Czech Republic senior national team.

   #3. The Czech Republic player who performed third best last week abroad was an international shooting guard David Jelinek (194-90, currently plays in Spain). Jelinek was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Caja Laboral (19-5) in their game against Real Madrid (23-1) in the Spanish ACB. He scored only 4 points in 10 minutes. Caja Laboral lost 92-100 on their home court in Vitoria to the leading Real Madrid. This year Jelinek averages just 2.0ppg in the three games. He is also a member of the Czech Republic senior national team.

   #4. Forward Jan Vesely (211-90, currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Washington Wizards (20-42) in their game against the Brooklyn Nets (38-27) in the NBA. Vesely recorded only 4 points. The Washington Wizards were badly defeated 95-78 on the road by the Nets. Vesely's overall stats this season are: 2.7ppg and 2.4rpg. He used to play for the Czech Republic national team back in 2010.

   #5. International center Ondrej Balvin (216-92, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Tomas Satoransky and both played together in the last Spanish ACB game. Balvin couldn't help Cajasol (9-15) in their game against Blusens Monbus (12-12). He cannot count it as his best performance. Balvin scored only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 15 minutes. Cajasol lost 63-71 on their home court in Sevilla to the higher-ranked (#10) Blusens Monbus. This year Balvin's overall stats are: 3.5ppg and 2.8rpg in the 20 games. He plays currently for the Czech Republic national team.

   #6. An experienced center Ondrej Starosta (215-79, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Planasa NV (8-13) in their game against Ford Burgos (17-4) in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Starosta scored 7 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Planasa NV was crushed 87-55 on their home court in Pamplona by the second-ranked Ford_Burgos. It was Planasa NV's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Starosta is currently ninth on the list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has very reliable stats this season: 14.7ppg, 9.6rpg and 1.2apg. Starosta is a former international player as he played for the Czech Republic senior team five years ago.

   #7. International center Tomas Hampl (215-88, currently plays in Spain) managed to help B.C. River Andorra in a victory against the fourth-ranked Palencia Baloncesto (13-8) 82-74 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Friday night. He scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 14 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. B.C. River Andorra (3-0) is placed in the LEB Gold. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. This year Hampl's total stats are: 7.2ppg and 4.0rpg in the 21 games. He is also Czech Republic national team player.

Center Jiri Hubalek (208-82, agency: Two Points, college: Iowa St., currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Umana Venezia (11-11) in their game against Armani Milano (14-8) in the Italian SerieA. Hubalek cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points. Umana Venezia was defeated in an overtime 97-88 in Milano by the higher-ranked Armani (#5). Hubalek has averaged so far 1.7ppg and 1.9rpg. He used to play for the Czech Republic national team back in 2009.

   #9. Former international center Ales Chan (216-80, agency: Edge Sports, college: Seton Hill, currently plays in Cyprus) helped Apoel win their game against the league leader Keravnos (18-3) 74-65 in the Cypriot Division A on Saturday night. He recorded only 2 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Cytavision Apoel Nicosia (12-9) is placed fourth in the Division A. Chan has averaged so far 6.9ppg and 3.9rpg. He used to play for the Czech Republic national team three years ago.

   #1. Michal Kremen (200-G/F-81, currently plays in Cyprus) contributed to Apoel's victory against the league leader Keravnos (18-3) 74-65 in the Cypriot Division A last Saturday. Kremen recorded 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 22 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Cytavision Apoel Nicosia (12-9) is placed fourth in the Division A. This year Kremen's overall stats are: 6.7ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.9apg and 1.5spg in the 21 games he played so far.

   #2. David Steffel (212-C/F-85, currently plays in Romania) led Rovinari to a 2-point victory against the closely-ranked CSM Bucuresti (16-10) 86-84 in the Romanian Liga Nationala on Monday night. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu (13-13) is placed ninth in the Liga Nationala. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Steffel belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #4. He has very reliable stats this season: 12.6ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.4apg.

   #3. Jaroslav Tyrna (207-F/C-86, college: New Orleans, currently plays in Germany) managed to help Uni-Riesen Leipzig in a victory in overtime against the fourth-ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (15-10) 95-90 in the German ProA (second division) last Saturday. Tyrna recorded only 4 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in 21 minutes. Uni-Riesen Leipzig (5-20) is located at the very bottom in the ProA. Tyrna has averaged so far 5.9ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.1bpg in the 11 games.

   #4. Jan Kratochvil (200-F-82, currently plays in Slovakia), who plays in the Slovakian Extraliga could not help Komarno (20-10) to beat Levice (1-19). Kratochvil cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 9 minutes on the court. Komarno lost 77-82 on the road to the much lower-ranked (#10) Levice. It was Komarno's third consecutive loss in a row. Kratochvil's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Kratochvil has averaged so far 5.8ppg and 3.0rpg in the 26 games.

Turi Svitavy (NBL) inked 19-year old swingman Eduard Kotasek (187-98). He has played for the last two years at CEZ Basketball Nymburk B in 1Liga in Czech Republic. In 20 games he recorded 7.2ppg, 3.6rpg, 4.1apg and 1.6spg last season. Kotasek also spent pre-season at CEZ Nymburk (also in 1Liga) that year. He played in the final of Czech Republic 1.Liga. Pavel Benes Named Head Coach at BC Kolin - 4 days ago
Former Czech National Team member Pavel Benes (190-G-75) has been named the new head coach of BC BK Geosan Kolin. Benes 42, has signed a three-year contract with BK Geosan Kolin and it will be hist forst time as a head coach in the NBL. He spent the past few years leading Nymburk's U19 squad, this past season to a 4th place finish as well as an assistant on the Senior National Team under Ronin Ronen Ginzburg.   [read more]

Lamb Autrey (ex BK Pardubice) signs at Sopron KC - 7 days ago
Sopron KC (A Division) landed 28-year old American guard Lamb Autrey (190-89kg-89, college: St.Mary's, TX, agency: Octagon Europe). He played most recently at BK Pardubice in NBL league in Czech Republic. In 42 games he averaged 12.4ppg, 5.9rpg, 4.0apg and 1.5spg last season. It was a very successful year in his career as he was selected to Eurobasket.com Czech Rep. League All-Imports Team and 2nd Team.
